Florida resident and WDW regular here. I can tell you right now, Disney can't have anything Avengers themed at the Florida parks because of the contract with Universal Orlando that Disney Parks can't have Avengers, X-Men, or Fantastic Four east of the Mississippi River. That's why Epcot can have a Guardians of the Galaxy ride, they're not Avengers. There's talk that Disney World can build Wakanda at the Animal Kingdom, as long as the Black Panther doesn't show up in costume, though I think they can have someone play King T'Challa. It sucks. Would love to see a Marvel Universe land at Disney World.

Wonder why they would make a contract like that? And I do find it a bit humorous of still using the Mississippi River as a demarcation line. There's always the Marvel-themed Disney cruises out of Florida though!

What?  No celeb reaction video from the actual ride?  I wanna see which of the four freaked out the most.

Also, GotG: Mission Breakout opened in May 2018 and replaced the Hollywood Tower of Terror at Disneyland's California Adventure.  Disney World still has their Tower of Terror and there are no plans at this time to convert it to a Marvel themed attraction.

Tower of Terror is great, they better not get rid of that!  Some rinky-dink seat belt keeping you in your seat as you plummet :)

You missed the other link from Entertainment Weekly. It was an Avengers: Endgame promotion that also included the $5M children's hospital donation at the Disneyland LEGO Store. Part of the donation was free toys from multiple companies partnered with Disney.

Here's the larger summary of the event.

Disney, 'Avengers' Stars Team Up for $5M Children's Hospital Donation

As far as the ride goes, that's discussed in the Reddit posts. I didn't see which ride it was. I know the Guardians of the Galaxy ride replacing an old attraction won't be open for some time now.

I had clicked through the entire EW article, and it really seemed focused on the charity event/announcement as well, but obviously there will be Endgame promotion as a (purposeful) side effect.  I'm cool with that as it's a great cause.

I think they are confused on the 'ride'.  There is a photo-op area with a mock F-15 and some other props where you can take pictures, but it looks like it was opened in March.  There were also several Reddit posts about how encouraged several felt after seeing the movie (or some previous comic/movie/tv show such as Wonder Woman) and having a representative role model they or their children could identify with, which I also thought was cool.

Very cute. But then read down further what this was - a Disney marketing event to celebrate the opening of a new ride. This was a staged photo event.

'The cast is at Disneyland for an Avengers ride opening as part of the movie press tour'

'well a press tour for the movie isnt exactly off time'

'It’s an event, you think 10kids in matching costumes just ran into her on the street? It’s possible but unlikely'

'This is clearly a planned photo op'

Certainly it was a photo-op, but I think the main goal for the day was the charity they launched that you also mentioned.  Curious as to what new ride is being opened?  I didn't see any information about that, but may have missed it.

Sorry if the question has been asked before, but I do have one regarding pressing.

why does it matter much if a book has been pressed and slabbed versus not pressed then slabbed, when buying a book?

is it because for non-pressed books, there’s a slight chance for doing so after then resubmitting for a higher grade?

I’ve seen a lot of people asking when buying a slab or sellers revealing if it was or not so just curious.

    Thanks

    Some people prefer unpressed books.

But I think the main reason to is the bolded reason above.  Really only matters if you can discern what are pressable defects and what are not.

I expected them to be laying the misogeny angle on way too thick and then did not wind up seeing it in the movie. That's why the "you're just a girl" flashbacks actually didn't make sense to me. It wasn't part of the plot. Frankly, I think they tried to make the movie sound like this was an issue to get mothers to take their daughters to the movie....and there were a lot of mothers and daughters in my theatre, so it worked I guess. The Kree looked down on her because she is human, not because she is female, and frankly, that didn't even become an issue until she rebelled.

Spoilers ahead, for those who care.  I took the flashback scenes to show how humans can be resilient, since the scenes show: a go-kart crash, falling off the rope, the male pilot misogyny angle, and plane crash on the beach.

    Spoiler

Each time she was able to stand back up in the face of those obstacles and overcome defeat.  This human resiliency, combined with her tesseract power and Kree training allow her to "awaken" and realize her full butt-kicking potential.

You may laugh at me, but it reminds me of this scene from Rocky Balboa, which I love:

I saw CM with my younger daughters, and thought it was great.  Will probably see it again.  But I've actually never read any of the comic iterations or really knew much on CM history either.
