  1. Grades not in yet! Still picking up the pieces of my dignity, does anyone have a vacuum cleaner I can borrow? These pieces are really, really small!
  2. I still remember coming across this cover for the first time. This mind blowing scene was a shocker. Such a dramatic cover with the colored halftone photo and the comic book elements and how Neal worked them together, amazing! We just did our top 5 SA Flash covers over in the Flash thread but if we had included early Bronze this would have been my personal #1.
  3. Such a great and iconic Flash book! Great to see in any grade! Lots of surface wear and spine wear. I'd give it a 4.0 maybe a 4.5. It's a little hard to tell from the photos. Thanks for sharing, I love seeing Flash show up in this thread, always makes me smile.
  4. Nice one! Looks similar to my copy from my 80's collection. But I tend to remember all my old books as being in better condition than they probably actually were.
  5. The main thing I learned in this round is that I tend to hit soiled comics a bit too hard. I guess CGC's graders consider that less of a defect. When the soiling (dirty, grimy, staining and general discoloring of the comic) is so obvious I will tend to bring it down a full grade. But with grading you kind of have to take the comic as a whole. Some of that grime is built into certain grade levels and I guess is acceptable and would not detract further?
  6. That's a nice looking Flash book there! Great key issue! I'd grade it at 6.0.
  7. I felt really good about my grades for this round ---no bullseyes though I was tougher on every book--but really felt these books deserved it, soiling, tears and creases, what looked like a little rat nibble on the corner of one. The Ghost Rider was filthy front and back as I recall. If I would have bumped every book I would have had 4 bulls!
  8. Wow just read through the Truckee Meadows thread! Lots more DC to come in June. Of course everyone is gushing over the Marvels in this collection - but it is mostly DC apparently. From the few pics shared I spotted 3 Flash annuals and a 105 peeking out from under a pile. The OO regularly bought double and triples, very interesting! How much more Flash will there be??
  9. Thanks for directing me to this thread! Its amazing!
  10. It's the Central Scrutinizer's job to enforce the grades that no one knows about yet.
  11. Recently I was talking with a fellow boardie about the importance of SC4 and comparing it to Action Comics #1. Where as Action 1 created the genre and the beginning of the Golden Age of heroes, SC4 marks the day the heroes made a come back and the beginning of the Silver Age. The two most important comics in the history of comics. If either of these experiments had failed we would not be talking about comics today. To me SC4 stands just as tall as Action1. What are your thoughts?
  12. I just wish I could take some of mine back now. You still have a chance! You are the lucky one! Grade wisely my friend!
  13. Sometimes I hate going to ComicLink Seeing all the books I can never have. Tons of Golden Age Flash too! Many, many very nice books - looked like a dozen 105's. A very nice #86 (first Joe Kubert Flash cover) I think I saw 3 Flash #1's???? an ABSOLUTELY Beautiful #10 (my fav GA Flash cover) 3 or 4 Showcase #4's. It was ridiculous! I had to shut it down!
  14. Is anyone suffering from PTGSS right now? (Post Traumatic Grades Submitted Syndrome) Trying not to think about it...its too late to turn back now!
  15. Wow! I love this issue! One of my personal top 5 Flash covers of all time. All I can do is dream about this copy though. Thanks for sharing!
