  1. I guess there was nothing in the Silver Age or Golden Age either? Flash never got the love he deserved. First he got canceled in 1949 then they revamp him only to kill him off and cancel him again maybe thats why we love him so much?
  2. Thanks, now I guess I will have to hunt down one of those Kid Flashes.....hey, wait a minute, I guess I am collecting the toys now...oh no! I always told myself I wouldn't fall down this rabbit hole!
  3. I never saw a Mego Flash figure in the 70's. If that Kid Flash is a real 1970's figure that may be the first. It's not the Flash but it is a Flash. Yes my little 1980's Flash has the 'running legs' action
  4. I do not collect the toys but over the years friends and family, knowing my interests have given me a few things. Here they reside on top of one of my bookshelves. I love the history of comic books and am putting together a library of related books on comics (with an emphasis on the Flash of course). Notice the little Flash in the front next to Captain Cold? I believe he is the first Flash toy from the 1980's? Is that true? Is there an earlier Flash toy?
  5. Happy Thanksgiving to all you wonderful Flash Fans! After years of collecting I finally found my tribe here on the boards with you. I am so glad to know you all and so grateful and thankful to have found my way here to this thread! I began collecting Flash some time in the early 1970's and for decades I was always the only Flash collector I knew of. I knew there had to be more out there! You all have taught me so much and shared new things with me here, I will be forever grateful! And for my fellow Texas Flash fans lets start working on that great Texas get together we were planning before the pandemic! Of course you all are invited if you can make the trip to our fair state. PM me and lets put something on the books for 2022!
  6. I have a shelf I will have to share later!
  7. Great iconic stuff there Terry! Thanks so much for sharing! You know I am a huge fan of Mr. Broome's. There is very little out there about him but every once in a great while I discover something new from him. I am so glad to see this! I knew about Alter Ego and Roy but I have never had a chance to see inside one of these early issues!
  8. Awesome! This has been so much fun finding these titles randomly and seeing these covers for the first time!
  9. Awesome new stuff guys! I gotta do some more shopping!
  10. Flash toys? That could be interesting. But if I remember right the first Flash toy was that little running figure from the 1980's?? Does anyone know of an earlier toy?
  11. If you have any ideas about what to do for our 200th page PM me.
  12. This is just hilarious!!!"The curse of the USS Codfish"
  13. We are getting very close to the 200th page of this thread Flash Fans. I would like to do something special for that page. Any ideas?
  14. Congratulations!!! This is a true triple dancing banana event! I am very happy for you!
  15. When he pushes the button a tuxedo pops out just in time for the wedding!
  16. We will have to think of doing a 200th page party! We are almost there Flash Fans!!! Just 6 more pages to go!
  17. Now THAT is really something!!! Nice one KJ I don't think any of us can top that!!!
  18. These are my kind of books! Own a legendary piece of history without breaking the bank! It's books like these,in this condition that allowed me to fulfill my life long dream of completing the run! And as an added bonus you don't have to worry about reading them, which is my favorite part!
  19. Here's one from that haul, with my archive notes on the back. It is virtually flawless! But I've never graded anything higher than 9.8. Maybe it's a 9.9 but I settled happily on 9.8 for the grade.
  20. This was the part of the run for me that was much harder to put together than I though it would be. They were nowhere to be found in my LCS's and many gaps at the big websites if they were available at all. Fortunately I was able to pick up very high grade copies from a private collection of everything I needed to complete the run. My theory was that these issues were typically turned down for many, many years by dealers as they were considered dollar books and not worth it to buy when they came in door. They cherry picked all the silver age stuff and sent the rest home with the seller. I believe they are all still sitting in basements all over the country with all the other "unwanted" DC Bronze age. All the stuff that the comic shop turned down all those years ago when they made that tough decision to sell that fateful day. That combined with the smaller print runs really puts collectors like us on the hunt. Many may have been brought in by a relative of the collector and they are just unaware if their current value. So there they sit collecting dust. After lining up and purchasing issues like 123, 139, 105 I was starting to wonder how in the world it was seeming more difficult to find a 348 or a 346??!! Kinda drove me crazy for a bit. Thank goodness I found a true Flash fan who was willing to let go of them! I will be forever grateful! And in such great shape! Nearly all of them 9.6's or 9.8's!!! I expect their value to continue to climb.
  21. If you Flash fans haven't seen this movie yet, give it a try! Great interviews with many creators including Julius Schwartz describing how he reinvented the Flash!!!
