  1. Inquired with CGC directly and received this response: When a new character is first introduced, it may take some time for their first appearance to be added to the CGC database/labels. Some factors depend on how "important" the character is, and if there is a clear agreement among fandom on which comic actually is the first appearance. Also, with so many publishers producing so many titles, each with so many characters, it is impossible to tell which character will grow in popularity and perhaps have their own fanbase, as opposed to other characters who might appear a few times, get poor feedback, and never appear again. Your best bet, is that when you submit one of your comics that you think warrants a particular key comment, write it on a post-it note and then attach the post-it to the book's bag or mylar. For instance, you or someone else may write for BATMAN #43 "Please indicate first appearance of Mr. Bloom." This will let the graders know that there is something in the interior story that at least a few customers think is worthy of being noted on the label. They can then confirm, research, debate, etc, the info requested and assuming there are no problems, add the info to the CGC label.
  2. They start to separate once we get into the 9 category but 20K is far from "cheap". The middle to low ranges are pretty even. Still, it should be pretty simple to see that Daredevil has never been as popular as most of the other characters even though his 1st appearance is still pretty damn expensive and on par with other keys from that era. I think its a bit of a misnomer to say that its undervalued or "cheap".
  3. Isn't it kind of on par with Avengers 1 & Avengers 4 in terms of pricing?
  4. Is Daredevil #1 actually "cheap"? From sellmycomicbooks.com: CGC 9.4 $22,500 CGC 9.0 $9,000 CGC 7.5 $4,300 CGC 7.0 $3,700 CGC 6.0 $2,500 CGC 4.5 $1,500 CGC 3.5 $1,225 CGC 2.5 $1,075 CGC 1.0 $465
  5. I can't see close enough to see if there are spine ticks or any dinged corners. Looks like a clean copy though and anywhere from a 9.2-9.6 (maybe 9.8 if its close to perfect with a press) depending on if there are any creases or ticks. Worth it is subjective. Is this meaningful to you? Then get it graded if you want to maintain its condition. This would be a niche market so it may be hard to find someone willing to pay whatever it is that you are asking for it even though it is rare.
  6. Bingo, the hate for him is unnecessary. It was an awful interpretation of Joker and terrible writing/dialogue for the most part. He was setup for failure. I could definitely see him absolutely crushing a performance as Morbius granted as long as the writing is on point. He did the best he could with a crappy movie and a crappy version of Joker. People have been speculating on ASM 101 for a while now and its only confirmed the speculation with the supposed official casting.
  7. Solid question. I've wondered the same thing. Can always get it regraded in the future if in a rush to get it slabbed but in situations like these, i'll just hold onto them for a while until I know it'll be on the label and the price actually jumps enough for me to justify getting it slabbed.
  8. I bought them both at the same time , I appreciate the help greatly tho
  9. Another the seller overhyped as a 9.0 and thought maybe I could squeeze a 7.0 out of it. Thanks everyone for your input and help! Much appreciated!
  10. Thanks all for the help. I thought maybe it'd be a 5.0 at best but seller described the book as a 7.0 which it clearly isn't anywhere near.
  11. Another book I'm debating on whether I should send for grading. Looks like the bottom staple is detached from the first page and there's a spine split to the rear cover along with other condition issues. I appreciate any and all opinions. Thanks in advance!
  12. I'm debating on whether I should send this in for grading and if I could potentially get it to a 6.0-6.5 with a clean/press. A decent sized cbc on the upper right hand corner and upper left corner. A few spine ticks and faint lines running through front cover (maybe can be pressed out). I've tried to include as many pictures as possible to help the evaluation of potential grade. I appreciate any and all opinions. Thanks in advance!
  13. Won't ever bother buying from them again. Bought a variant for $50 and waited a few weeks before contacting them. Received an email back saying they were in the process of shipping the order. A week later and nothing. Had to reach out multiple times to cancel order. A good lesson learned for myself and anyone looking to buy from them.
  14. Great price for anyone that doesn't already have one...new CGC label + newsstand.
  15. I'd be curious if CGC would add "Stan Lee File Copy" if you chose to get them reslabbed with the new labels...
  16. Never mentioned anything related to age. I've been a long time lurker and a collector for 25+ years. I don't post often because of the elitist attitudes often present on forums as evidenced by your "You've been here 2 months and have still no idea what you're talking about." Hate to tell you this but someone's post count doesn't determine their knowledge in a hobby. I'm well aware of some from the older generations being way more technologically advanced than some knuckleheads from the newer generation who barely know how to turn on a computer. My post was related to inherent biases when someone becomes attached to a certain format rather than expanding their horizons. Much easier to dismiss something new than be a little more open minded. That goes for everything.
  17. Agreed, it may be user bias for veteran posters here bumping up the boards interface as if its something better than it actually is just to bash IG/social media.
  18. The Instagram format of having a pre-existing account and only having to open an app to search comics quickly with pictures is much more convenient than browsing the forum through the smart phones web browser. A much more efficient method of shopping for comics on the go.
  19. Nothing but positive experiences so far from buying through Instagram. It's a win-win as the sellers don't have to pay eBay fees and usually those savings are passed down to the buyers. It also seems like there are some really good genuine collectors willing to try to help each other out. As for the raffles, generally they are a waste of money unless you get extremely lucky but even then, the sellers too often make out with selling a book higher than retail with the amount of raffle tickets they receive. Not a big fan of that practice especially when people are shelling out hundreds of dollars for a single raffle slot.
