  1. x2, even a reseller could have gotten it graded and possibly get 6K for it as it sits by anyone whos hungry and will over eat for any FF1
  2. Bought 1 CGC book off Kevin. Packaged well and easy to deal with. Great communication the entire time. Thanks again!
  3. I personal messaged him before he even posted about the Grandparents issue and he never opened the message either. Emailed him last week to his personal email along with trying to contact via other social media outlets. I do hope that everything is OK with him and his family but there really is little excuse to not get back to a group of people after taking their money. Agree at this point that everyone should be putting in disputes with Paypal and/or doing chargebacks. Unless something changes, I'm screwed since I made the dumb mistake of sending friends and family. Trusted him as a long standing board member here a bit too much. Lesson learned.
  4. Bought a small cheap lot off Eddie and he treated it as if we made a larger deal. Super communicative and even threw in a free book. An overall good dude who i'd buy from in a heartbeat. Go check out his artwork too!
  5. Ugh, the awful Facebook and Instagram raffles (the 2 worst parts of each community IMO). I understand the quandary but realistically, its his right as the owner to do what he wants with it as long as he has given what you are asking. I'd feel the same way as you so I understand.
  6. Sellers that don't show an interest in listening to a customer is an immediate walk off for me no matter how good the deals are. I'd rather spend a bit more with someone who is friendly than get a deal from someone who's grumpy and has an outright or even subtle attitude. I've seen this time and time again at cons where sellers carry a certain attitude (usually only a small percentage of sellers, maybe 1 or 2 per show) and personally for me, I avoid them and would suggest you do the same if you feel a certain way about your experience with them. I'll spend up to a few books on a book without taking it out of the plastic but anything more than $10+ requires an inspection or else the $10 book becomes a dollar book and i'm just wasting my money. A seller should understand this and be OK with it as long as they aren't asking to see 100 books and not actually buying anything.
  7. Hi everyone, would appreciate some different perspectives on the grading for this Captain Britain 1. Didn't realize how thin the paper was on this book until receiving it in hand and have heard different things on the mask being attached or loose (the mask is loose). My main concerns are the rip on the back cover that goes through a page or two and what looks like rubber band remnants stuck to the pages. Also the loose mask and faint line that runs through the cover and back cover. Any thoughts or opinions are welcome especially for someone who sent this in with a loose mask. Thanks in advance!
  8. I shake my head every time I see someone post a book for sale or worse, something they bought with a recent awful Stan Lee signature especially when its on A) a book he never had anything to do with and B) a character he didn't create.
  9. Board members are in the right to disagree and have a cordial discussion about it but look up and down the boards and you'll see entire threads sidetracked by a continued push over someone being an expert and acting as if there opinion is worth more than someone else (hence my elitist comment). Not to mention the attitudes of someone who has thousands of posts acting as if they know it all when posts on this forum do not dictate collecting experience or ones own personal experiences. It is not the first time either I see posts from you dismissing someones opinion or personal experiences but alas, I digress and simply ask that we listen a little more instead of dismissing someones complaints even if they are somewhat in the wrong.
  10. He did his complaining to the company AND decided to post here. So its not like he complained for nothing and didnt reach out to CGC first multiple times before posting. Him being green gives him every reason to complain since the first impression can be a lasting one for customers. It seems like these forums are a place for people to argue with one another instead of listening to each others perspective on our experiences and hobby that we all share. Sad really, long time lurker here who recently started posting more but notice this more and more around here. The main reason why I never decided to be active on the boards in the first place was because of said argumentative and elitist attitudes devaluing each others perspectives and experiences instead of supporting each other in our hobbies and listening.
  11. Edgy as in I need you to hurry up because I stole them?
  12. It's a fairly common complaint towards CGC about their response time and lack of responses when things to awry. At times they can be golden in fixing problems but other times, they can disappear with invalid responses (all you need to do is look at the response to the Newton rings that went on much longer than it needed to and the continued long wait times). Rather than saying "oh well, no need to complain", maybe us as customers should uphold businesses to responding in a prompt and effective manner. Make these issues public as well as when they do the right thing.
  13. If the OP is asking if he should get them pressed then odds are likely that he may not properly know how to check for some flaws that could be pressed out.
  14. I agree to a certain extent but thats the game you are playing when going after a 9.8 instead of a 9.6 or any grade for that matter considering how miniscule the difference can be especially on modern books. New books are still shipped and handled causing minor non color breaking creases which can often be pressed out.
  15. Hesitant to pick it up as I wasn't sure the game would be as good as people were saying. My older brother let me borrow it and i'm hooked. Going to be buying my own copy soon. It's some of the most fun I've had playing a game in a very long time. It's not perfect but its as close as we can get to right now. A great sign for the potential and capability of what it could be like to have other open world superhero games, i.e. Iron Man.
  16. Not sure why some are quick to say its a complete waste of money when a press on a modern book can ensure it does get a 9.8.
  17. Family comes 1st, comics come 2nd. Sorry to hear about that and hope they get back on their feet in no time.
  18. Post it here with clear pictures: https://www.cgccomics.com/boards/forum/42-hey-buddy-can-you-spare-a-grade/
  19. There are short boxes that are the correct dimensions to place the graded comics into. HotFlips and BCW are a couple of examples.
