Two more issues arrived today - Four Color #64 and #251. The Hubert issue doesn't show up very often, though there is another decent copy on eBay now that was just listed.
I have 54 issues left - 33 from 1-99, 9 from the 100s, 8 from the 200s, and 1 each from the 300s, 500s, 600s, and 800s.

Place holders and waiting for potential upgrades
Or holding out for an accpetable copy in the first place
I generally don't buy placeholders these days, at least not intentionally. Sometimes I'll buy an issue that has a defect that I was unaware of such as a detached staple and I will keep it and add the book to my replace list. The Tarzan is borderline for me with the cover damage, but is one that I don't mind keeping it in my collection. However, I certainly won't turn down the opportunity to upgrade it for a better copy.
I've had many comics that I passed on because the centerfold was detached or the cover was detached at a staple or there was excess water damage, etc. I was less choosy when I was in my teens and early 20s and would buy placeholders, but those have almost all been replaced by now. Now if I found a number of hard to find issues that were complete, but with a number of problems in a 50 cent box somewhere, I likely would not pass them up.

Down one more. This one is emblematic of the disease of collecting. Since it reprints comic strip material that I have available across multiple hardcover collections of Captain Easy and Wash Tubbs, I really do not need it for its content. Same with the D_ick Tracy issues, etc. *sigh*. That said, happy to have it as this is my first Dell with the cool logo on the cover
Nice! I know what you mean about double dipping (or worse) on the material.
I picked up two more issues today, bringing the total I need (for series II) down to 68 issues.

Todd's a great guy to deal with and honest as the day as long. There were some heady days on eBay in the 00's that he was selling some sort of warehouse stock and had many, many multiples of all sorts of books- all in very high grade. It was mostly mid-70s Marvels but I'm talking Strange Tales, Warlock, Savage Sword of Conan, Captain Marvel, Ms. Marvel, Dark Knight sets, Watchmen sets, etc. All books that go for decent money now.
I still have my Savage Sword of Conan 2 that I purchased from him which is probably a 9.6-9.8. Back then, he did most of the grading and he's very strict. I think someone else is doing it now and it's less so but still a great dealer to buy from.
If it was in 2005 or later it might have been stock from the comic store I worked at from 1986-2005 (Classic Movie and Comic Center). Todd bought all of the store stock when the store closed, including stuff that had been in the owner's basement for decades. I'm sure Todd bought other store stock over the years, though.
