I stumbled upon an Australian artist Will Pleydon while checking out a new art rep company belegendaryillustrations.com - so I bought a pre done piece the Batgirl/Joker and commissioned a painted Phoenix. In less then a month they were at my door all the way from Australia.. I could not be happier with the art , the process pricing or timing. Check them out!

I was there..it was cool. Anthony was the only "art dealer" but scott hanna had a ton of published art and I found this at the comic upstairs... A few comic dealers brought some art because they knew what anthony was doing downstairs the comic show

My first banger of the New Year was a surprise! I’ve been looking for a nice Mike Zeck example for a while.. and while I was at a small comic show this beauty was sitting on top of a comic dealers wall ! Very early Zeck - issue 224 from 1978 but such a fantastic page. not sure if this is splash or a panel but either way very happy to have it!

Someone who buys these... is stealing them for this price... if these were on Heritage they would probably go for double the price!

I have been thinking about this for a week or so.. and with my 2nd full year of OA collecting behind me i finally think I am getting the hang of it... Goals for me 1) Be disciplined... think before you buy. Sleep on it before making a decision unless you are sure 2) Continue My X-men plan.. lots of artists to still check off my list of everyone who worked at least three consecutive issues on the main title.. but Jim Lee is time.. I need an uncanny page this year 3) Be selective with modern art.. good subjects with great art and A pages only 4) trust my instincts and do not be afraid to stretch a little for something I love.. do not be a slave to comps the way the market is going it will quickly catch up and I may not get another shot. 5) Finally a couple artists I would like to add representation to my collection from Sam Kieth, Bernie Wrightson and George Perez.

Art related positives from 2020?? OK I have a few @AnkurJ Helped me get a piece I wanted real bad by facilitating a trade with his own stuff to acquire the piece and then sell it to me at a fantastic price! Bought a couple beauties of pieces off of these here boards for very fair prices thank you @Unca Ben and @Infamouspure22 and one other that their screen name escapes me at the moment Made a great trade with @romitaman ! thank you Mike! Anthony Snyder has hooked me up with a few great deals this year.. he always takes care of the locals! Paolo at cadence helped me get a page I wanted before it was even published!! And finally thank you to the new Hobby friends I have made in 2020 and the boardies who are always here to help!

I ordered a couple pieces at the end of November and received them the end of December. I think this thread pops up around this time every year.. Cadence has holiday sales on all their artists at that time.. they sell an immense amount of stuff at that time and get backed up shipping.. personally I would prefer the sales continue even if it means waiting a bit longer for my art... just my 2 cents.. I also think the USPS is a mess right now and that is amplifying the problem.

Holy ! Not only did my gift giver @Old_Man_Adam personally drop my mystery box off (who knew he was local) he packed it full of so much goodness! What an amazing assortment of goodies!! One of my favorite OA threads of the year!

It is possible it was less attended.. but I think it was difficult to read..as there was a line to get in from the time I go there until when I left. So I think it seemed like attendance was off because of controlled admission.

It is not that I am not concerned with what is going on.. but what I am saying is that the comic shows JP runs and the NJ art con were both very well done from a safety stand point and as far as I know there were no issues. I was at the comic art con in NJ and the attendance seemed just about the same as it was pre pandemic.
