    I am not old enough to remember the Byrne stuff as it was coming out: Paul Smith was the first X-men artist I knew so it holds a dear spot with me. But it is funny- if money is not an object you can always find X-men examples from Byrne/Kirby/silvestri even Lee for sale.. but Smith pages are not even out there with huge prices... nothing.

    Italy- Black and White, I was not aware of that,but I would think the rep would be who originally quoted me $200. This would be my first drop into one of one prints as I am more of a traditionalist. The rep is US based and i would have to wait for his next shipment from the artist. I guess my biggest issue is the jump from original quote. It is what he presented .. a one of one in lieu of traditional OA, he sells other digital artist like this on his site all the time. I asked for the remark to make me feel a little better about diving into the digital stuff and also as somewhat of a provenance.

    I agree- direct with artist no negotiation... but that is why they have reps.. so they can work out what is best .. both higher and lower.. Here is a fun one from an unnamed rep this week... I was after a specific page that was not listed yet by an artist he reps... and the art was digital so it would be one of those One of one prints (I do not usually collect them but I really wanted the page) he offered it to me for 200- I said ok, if the artist will sign and remark the back of it- he says no problem.. I then get an email saying it may be slightly more as getting it printed proper over seas is an issue. OK... he comes back at $350?????? ... But we are not supposed to negotiate with them?????

    I did not want to send the new guy out insulting reps the first time through lol.. as a lot of people have said, relationship and reputation go into it too.

    Negotiations are an art form so it is not a hard and fast rule.. and some will not negotiate at all be aware of that (cough cough ALbert Cough).. I would say depending on the size of the piece 10/20% -

    New addition and a BIG thank you to Fellow Boardie @kopter Silvestri was the sweat spot of my comic collecting .... I probably read this issue 100 times when I was a kid. Could not be happier to add this.

    The Byrne xmen pages were all available to buy for months at what the reserve was... Did not make sense that they would move.

    Will the reserves be revealed prior to the end of the auction? and on the Byrne xmen stuff is the reserve lower then they were for sale on the site prior?
