  1. It’s not just the high grades that are expensive and increasingly difficult to find. I am collecting low-grade issues and they’re mostly not cheap anymore. The horror titles, in particular, are difficult to find.
  2. I like the clips from this guy, all about EC:
  3. Just noticed a small mistake in the table, I think. You’ve got Showcase 22 listed as both 10/59 and 11/59.
  4. I’ve been a DC guy all my life (although I have had many Marvel and other comics). But I was impressed by someone on Comic Book Historians who said he had never collected by company, and had only been interested in various writers/artists. Sounded sensible to me.
  5. I bought this recently. Beautiful cover and (possibly more importantly) beautiful stamp!
  6. These Batman puzzles do turn up reasonably often on eBay.co.uk. The other series of four (the ones in the thin boxes that open at the top) turn up far less often.
  7. The manufacturer did a good job with the colours.
  8. Yes, I hadn’t done a puzzle for many years until lockdown. Anything to fill up some time. I found I particularly liked the ones with comic covers (as you can see from my posts).
  9. I thought these puzzles might be of interest. They are all recent releases, except for the TFTC.
  10. I know these don’t really fit in this thread, not being superhero, so feel free to delete them, but I think they are really nice. They are all recent releases except the TFTC.
  11. I’m particularly interested in the 1960s Batman puzzles. As far as I know, there were two separate series of four puzzles each. I think they may have been sold only in the UK. The two Batman puzzles I posted above are from one of the series. I have three out of the four in that series. The other series seems more difficult to find. That series has flimsier boxes that open at one end. All eight puzzles are nicely drawn, IMO.
  12. Apologies if this has been mentioned and/or disproved before, but is the idea that Batman 179 and 180 are rare in the UK because of a dock strike a fact or a theory? None of the other DC titles for those months are rare, as far as I know. My assumption is that Batman 179 and 180 are rare because they are the issues on sale in the US when the TV series started, so they sold very well, leaving few returns. By the time of issue 181, DC had increased its print run to cope with the massive demand. Any ideas? I remember knowing that 179 and 180 were rare quite early on in my collecting, and my delight at finding a 180 in a Blackpool newsagents when we were in holiday!
  13. That Blackhawk Annual only had five out of six comics remaining, which (IMO) would make it nearly worthless if it wasn’t for the Detective 359. Luckily I’ve already got the Blackhawk Annual, but I still need 5/12 of those T&P annuals. It’s a long search!
  14. No, no, that’s a bargain. But that Kid Colt Album even has a page missing!
  15. I seem to remember that Alan Austin’s Price Guide referred to those issues as ‘nd’ as opposed to ‘ND’.
  16. I remember those wrinkled Marvels. They were 10p and I could sell them to a dealer for 15p because they were ‘ND’. The most common one was Spider-Man 128 but there were several others, including Hero For Hire 4. I can’t remember the others offhand.
