  1. Since you asked, here is what I can recall right now- John K (Ren and Stimpy) bought some 50s humor at SDCC in the early 90s Kirk Hammett (Metalica) Famous Monsters in the late 80s Reggie Jackson bought some GA Sups at a LAC fairgrounds card show in the early 90s Rick Springfield (yes, THAT Rick S-Jesse's Girl) bought a Aurora Chamber of Horrors Guillotine in the early 90s Glenn Danzig Bought a Blonde Phantom a couple years ago at SDCC Steve Bissette bought something off ebay a couple years ago John D from System of course Mark Hammil bought ECs in the late 80s at the Ambasador Billy Mumy bought ECs as well Kevin (Prometheus Productions) bought a bunch o' monster stuff over the years Don Rosa bought some comics at SDCC 2/3 years ago G.A.tor bought some slabbed high grade early Bats before I knew who G.A.tor was!
  2. yep...and a tec 31 in 1.8 sold for that price...and a batman 1 in 1.8 could have been had for 32K (2 k cheaper) so, they are now on even ground, for the most part, when it comes to pricing... will the trend reverse, maybe, maybe not... is batman 1 a better book...of course it is...it has always been, and I don't think anyone can argue to the contrary...but in the past 12 years, tec 31 has not only closed the gap (it was a large gap) but it has even surpassed in a few examples... so, unless the slab centric/cover centric hobby does a 180 degree about face and start appreciating "the book" again, I suspect the trend continues that tec 31 will outpace batman 1....strictly for the wrong reasons (thumbs u
  3. not that I've seen or received. Fully split spine seems like a "ceiling" defect that CGC automatically says 1.0 at very best even if eye appeal is much nicer. While mr primetime is probably right, NOT SO, the last Sup 1, on CLINK, or HA, or CC, was a 1.5 with cover completely split, I think
  4. I believe its more like 10K a point, IMHO
  5. Andre, (thumbs u 3.5 to a 5.0 What a stunner !!!!!!!!!!!!!
  6. Ditto plus (thumbs u X 1,000,000000000000000000000000000000
  7. My kind of books especially the 35. Man I am starting to think a large part of the pre Robin books are owned by only a select few that hoard them.... James G When there's only 20-40 unrestored copies of a book known to exist that isn't really that hard to do. (thumbs u -J. There are hundreds of copies (large portion unrestored) of these books out there. They may not come to market that often bc folks don't want to sell them, but 20-40 is absurdly low. I myself have sold over 30 copies of Tec 31 of which some 18 were unrestored. That wouldn't surprise me but Rick, how many of those copies do u think may have just been the same copies circulating back to you. And how many copies on the census do u think might be resubs? I just don't think there's many of these books out there, or readily available as you said. -J. These were each unique books I sold. True, I did resell many of the same copies too (about a dozen) As for readily available, they are not. As for existing, they do. I know, literally dozens and dozens of folks that have raw copies and cgc copies. I know folks that own (like i did) multiple restored and unrestored copies. There was a fellow at sdcc a few years ago (2006, I believe) that had 8 copies (all raw, none that I know he ever sold or made available) While I do not have the proof, like the Gator, I would believe this to be true, I suspect there are hundreds of the above mentioned books, locked away, or forgotten about throughout this land. Wouldn't it be fun, to have some type of mystic crystal ball, showing us where all the remaining treasures lie,
  8. I crack em all out, at some point,
  9. I'm bored, lets bump this crappy thread once more, for fun How about a well loved 31? or a 35, from the same collection, no BC
  10. Unfortunately I don't know. I would hazard that they are peds (church or Allentown etc) Here's one, from the late 30's Church Copy, cracked 9.8
  11. Matt Purchased a nice AF 15 from me and was prompt with payment, and easy to work with, bunky Brian
  12. Including the remarks above I have looked at this book many times, and have been very close to pulling the trigger, has great eye appeal, and in 5 years will look like a huge bargin, I say fire away, BB
  13. That seems to be the direction the market is headed, if it hasn't reached that point already. Throw out the entry .5 and the uber high grades, 8.5 higher, in the middle area, looks about 14K a point, less if the book is skanky, and more, if the book has great eye appeal, IMHO
