Some Friday Fun. A day when you upgrade three sweet Dells is always a good day
This little puppy is high on my list of books I'd like to hoard, but have a hard time finding copies with nice lamination
This blurb suggests his lips make a "Z" Bob Stanley cover art
Victor Kalin scored a knockout on this cover to No. 848, maybe trying to outdo Bob Schulz's shiny fabric/bondage cover on No. 842 "The Corpse Came Calling"
Love the Bagby.

I sold my later print of this last sale since I finally found a nice copy of the first print. All I can say is that it's the Dickens trying to find the first print of this unforgettable fantasy in nice shape.
Bill Teason's cover art on this captures such a strange creature with eerie detail. It fits the story so well - is she or isn't she a witch? Shapeshifter? You'll have to read it for yourself, sometimes she seems like a very ordinary wise azz child-teen.
I had long discussions with several dealers at the L.A. Vintage paperback about how compelling a little book it is (and how no one at that show had a copy - it was one I was looking for there.)
I've been looking for a nice copy of "The Lottery" with no luck so far. Looks like I have to add this one to the list.

Surprised this went for 380. There are a couple nicer presenting copies on ebay for $100, disregarding the trimming.Yeah, I went ahead and ordered the nicest one of the eBay books for a nice, fat discount. Probably trimmed on one edge, but I'm not paying more for one right now. I will assume prices will drop when there are a few hundred on the census. Of course, there are a few thousand common Spideys and such on the census that go for more than their rarity should warrant, so who knows?

We have some similar tastes, John. This one's going on the huntlist. Lots and lots of Chiriacka on the huntlist Might be one I get picky over, too, with the white cover.
Really like the freebie, as well. Not always a fan of the many "porch" covers I see on the trashy "hotel" and southern life covers, but this is laid out a little different.
I'll take that as a compliment. Yeah, I really like Chiriaka. He's different (looser?) than the early Avons I am usually drawn to.

I'm passing on this one but thought I'd share because of the PB crossover. Rough shape (if that cover's not detached it will be), but first use of a classic Belarski posted a couple pages back for those of you that collect the pairs.
I never even knew. Thanks for the info.

OK, I bought an Amazing Stories CGC 7.0 as a grading reference and plan on getting a 5.0 and 6.0. Will post a pic when I receive it.

Let's go 25 per book or 40 for both.

Once Off Guard by J.H. Wallis Popular Library No. 385 1951 $35
Basis for the 1944 film noir "Woman in the Window" - a scarce book in any edition and this is a very nice high grade copy with great uncredited cover art.
VF minus/VF Has a hairline reader crease and light indent on back cover, that's about it!

Nude In Mink by Sax Rohmer Gold Medal 105. PBO 1950 $40
Classic cover and title. One of the 1st Gold Medal PBO best sellers. This weird one by Fu-Manchu and Sumuru author Sax Rohmer.
Fine Plus/VF Minus. Solid square with nice spine, has a small tear to the spine paper, glossy bold covers. No creases, the lamination only has a few issues. A nice copy

Both books are in VG+. 30.00 per book or 50.00 for both. Will trade for paperbacks or cool HG paper ephemera. Will make up the difference in price if the trade is lopsided.
Thanks for looking-John

I have been on the fence, but I will buy slabbed pulps eventually.
1 factor for CGC:
Old grading of Fair G/VG and fine doesn't say enough about the grade for me. Like anything, all pulp seller's grading is not created equal. Tired of buying fines that don't seem/feel fine to me.
1 against:
Just because it's graded doesn't mean it's a 600 dollar pulp. I have seen too many "common" pulps immediately go to 300 and higher for books you can get(if you can find a reliable seller) for 50 to a hundred bucks.
So, if prices start adjusting to reality, I will probably buy graded books just so I can "rely" on the grade. If, everything gets graded, I will probably quit pulps and stick with paperbacks.

The answer to the question at the top is probably not:
