  1. I think you need to know someone a little better before you use terms like passive aggressive, Steve. If I didn't come right out and say that I thought you were being mean about the changes and nasty last year, it was because I was trying to be polite. Sorry if you took that the wrong way. I guess I should have just said you were being awfully aggressive for someone who was so new to the community. THAT was what kept convincing me that you were not really new. Tim was right about thinking SOME new people are shills, I thought (and I was not alone) that you were either a long time lurker, or you appeared to have been here before, then you posted with 2 voices, you and your wife? That is not usual. I'm not sure what kind of bus I threw you under, but did I think there was something wrong absolutely. I doubt very much I hid those thoughts, if I did, I apologize. Then there were your two dramatic exits. I'm usually ok with the first dramatic exit. By the 2nd one, I try to just avoid the person, because I don't think it's going to stop. As far as seeing your contributions, they sound wonderful, but I don't really read the variant threads, nor the modern threads, I don't collect those things and my time is limited, so I just skim the stuff that I'm more interested in. NOT THAT GA is better, I might like it better, but you don't have to. As far as new people go, I honestly try to be nice to them. I don't think too many other people will accuse me of not being nice to a new person, UNLESS, I think that person is a shill, then I'm really cautious. It has nothing to do with not "liking" you. I'd have to know you to "like" or "dislike" you. I didn't like the constant kvetching about every tiny thing that was going wrong in the beginning of last year. Did I think things were going wrong, ABSOLUTELY, but my goal was to preserve this place, because I've loved this forum and the people here (with very few exceptions) for years. I was afraid that with everyone complaining, it would drive more people away. What I tried to do instead was to help some friends who were not posting, learn the new boards, as well as I could. You actually had a few good ideas regarding software that I found very helpful, and I vaguely remember saying that, if I didn't, I apologize for that, but it was probably because I was completely lost in space myself at the time and really struggling to make sense of it all. Had nothing to do with liking or not liking you. Now can we be done with this, please? I know you've had at least one other thread where you mentioned me. It did not seem like it was positive. I didn't go after you in that thread, nor was I here. I really absolutely do not get what is so wonderful about "likes" that you need more than 50, EXCEPT, it's easier to hit a heart than to type +1. If it helps to understand, I don't do facebook. It just was not something I wanted to spend time doing, and I don't like posting personal stuff in an open space. If you have anything else to share about me, feel free to pm me. Thank you. Happy Valentine's Day.
  2. Nice, I won the 4.5 on Clink...had I seen this one, I would have waited;)
  3. Maybe you should stop worrying about what *I* like. I have zero idea whether you have ever liked one of my posts;) and I've never seen you post a comic (that I can remember).
  4. I don't really care either way, but I'm just curious as to why you would want more than 50 likes a day? I'm usually a pretty positive person, but unless I sat here all day, I'd have a hard time finding that many things I "liked". BTW, if you are going to quote me with a picture that I won't understand, please add a translation...;) I've found some threads to read when looking at the leaderboard. There is a list of recent threads with the most "likes" otherwise I'd agree with you. I don't really see the point. We did perfectly fine when all you could do was +1 to indicate that you agreed with something.
  5. One of my new toys has been the online users list. If I sort it, I can see about how many people are signed on with their IDs. 30 people to a page, we have been averaging between 4 and 6 pages since the software change, but tons of "guests" are also online. Some of those are "bots" I'm sure, but some seem to be viewing things that people would look at. I check once or twice a week when I remember to look, sometimes more often. It's been pretty consistent this whole year. However, this has not been the only time I've seen more than 1/2 of the # of people who are signed in posting in this kind of thread. If I had more time I'd check the names against the lists, but I'm not that curious;)
  6. Maybe Liz should just post more threads, he gets a lot of people to show up;)
  7. I just did a rough count and about 79 people posted in this thread. That's over a 24 hour period. Some of the posters, I rarely see post anymore, which means maybe, that some people lurk and don't sign in. More and more people seem to be getting used to the new software (after a YEAR;) but there are changes. Lots of people just selling. I think that comic prices have definitely priced out a few people. Some of the younger posters have kids now, or older kids and that's a change, children take up lots of spare time. But I also see a lot of the same complaints, same kvetching by people with the same issues, and the same upbeat people who don't let the small stuff bother them. Not that much difference;)
  8. LOL...maybe for someone who is not married, or is not fond of the person they are married to;) that's not the case for me, there is no book I'd trade my husband for. But don't ask me that the next time he forgets (or choses to ignore ;) what I asked him to do 2 minutes before;)
  9. Beautiful books, I'd better sign off before I risk a divorce;)
  10. Chris bought some books from my last sales thread. He was super polite, a very nice guy! He paid more quickly than was agreed upon and communication was top notch. Thanks so much, Chris, it's a pleasure to work with you!
  11. I have a 3.5 with a small piece out of the front. I was willing to upgrade to one with a piece off the back;) But I was outbid, I actually lowered what I was going to bid at the end because 2 people withdrew their bids early, I guess they were testing mine because I got notes that I was high bidder again. I don't think it was the seller, but that stuff turns me off, so I didn't want to bid what I had planned. Both of them sniped at the end, one of them won. I was wondering if it was a boarder.
  12. Anyone here win the Sensation 13 on eBay last night?
  13. @comicsyte95 Chris, you need to delete your name and address from that post.
  14. I'm repeating myself, but he's spectacular! Thanks for buying books on my latest thread, Dwayne!
  15. So nice to see you here again and posting @Marty Mann
  16. Does anyone else recognize Lena Luthor from Merlin? I'm really beginning to like her character. In the beginning, I kept waiting for her to put a spell on them while pretending to be nice;)
  17. Someone has a book for sale in the marketplace by Eisner, that was printed in White Plains NY. I was curious about the publisher because I worked in White Plains at one time. Anyway, I was googling the publisher and I found this other book online. I only read the beginning, I don't have time right now, but I was thinking some of you might also find it interesting. I had no idea Eisner lived in White Plains at one time, but that's not what this book is about, there is some comic history here:) https://books.google.com/books?id=s2F6SKOBj_0C&pg=PR17&lpg=PR17&dq=poorhouse+press+white+plains+ny&source=bl&ots=5tK_EwLQu3&sig=drDhxXMJKq5TniEWdp7oOWh2zRg&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwiO75epuozZAhXLrVkKHQxmAsIQ6AEIQTAE#v=onepage&q=poorhouse press white plains ny&f=false
  18. This reminds me of a Blonde Phantom cover, nice colors, movement, almost the same layout as in Blonde Phantom...but in Blonde Phantom, Louise was the one carrying the gun and she doesn't come across as quite such a brainless ditz. I understand that times were different, most of the artists were male, but I look at those covers, read the word balloons and cringe...and I felt that way the first time I saw them, and I must have been pretty young. Now if you could show me a few where the guy is the du...umm less bright person and the woman showed common sense instead of just being in heat..maybe I'd read that one;) At least the majority of female superheroes were not just turned to jelly by the sight of a guy Even though Wonder Woman was a little too impressed with Steve she didn't need him to save her every time. If Lois Lane were a hot GA comic, I might have mentioned her here;) Do romance covers have wonderful art and colors, do I find the artists talented...absolutely, but they just don't make me want to buy them.
  19. That's because YOU are a romantic at heart, Richard;) which is sweet....Besides, this is just about what is hot that you don't like;) I strongly resented the fact that those were the "girl comics" I was supposed to be reading, lol...I only liked the people who could fly for the most part. My first love was GL, he could fly AND he had jewelry;) Don't get me started on Spidey, or I'll get stoned (and not the 60's type of "stoned";)
  20. Dan bought some DCs from my latest sales thread, great communication, super fast pay, and he's very very nice! Thanks, Dan!
  21. I never liked Romance books. When I was a kid, if that was all that was left in the store, I'd leave. I liked Blackhawk better than Romance, any I've gotten in lots, I promptly gave away. There is something about those posed women in tight sweaters that just screamed "PLEASE GO TO SCHOOL" to me;) and the stories..well, I guess you guys aren't reading many of the stories, so scratch that;)
