  1. I can't find my post, but somewhere I mentioned "hiding the picture" once the book is sold, I should have said "please put the picture in a spoiler" don't delete the post. The spoiler if you are not sure what I'm talking about is that EYE thingy in the top row of your post . Just click on the picture and hit the eye thingy. Thank you
  2. OK, important update I spoke with DavidTheDavid a little while ago and he kindly offered to take over the PMs regarding sales. David will PM both the buyer and the seller. He has Jim's PP address and access to the spreadsheet and I thank him a zillion times for the help. I will update the spreadsheet with the new listings, provide Jim's PP for anyone who wants to send a cash donation and help with the thread. I'll continue with any PMs that are open regarding purchases made so far, so no need to change any that you have started. I think this will break up the tasks a little bit and make it easier for all. I will post a nightly update of how many funds we've gathered so far. Thank you!
  3. https://www.mycomicshop.com/account/consignment There are options for selling the books to them, consigning them or auctioning them...you'll have to work that out with comicartfan, but what a nice idea. @mycomicshop is a board member, if Conan is around maybe he has a suggestion!
  4. For our wonderful new members, my apologies, I sometimes forget not everyone has done this before. If you donate a book, the buyer pays Jim's account directly, copies me (and you) and you get his/her address to send out the book. I'll add this to the top as well. Great question since I'm sure you are not the only one I've managed to confuse;)
  5. I posted this correction in the first post...but I'm putting it here as an update. I'm not sure I was clear about the pms. I was not thinking that the buyer does not have Jim's PP address, my fault. If you send me and the seller a PM together, I'll post the PP account in the thread. Once the buyer has paid, please Once the book is shipped please bump the pm thread (with the 3 of us) so that I can update the spreadsheet. DavidtheDavid will now be sending pms to both the buyer and the seller, thanks! He has the PP address.
  6. Sgt Fury #13, CGC 4.5 Total proceeds to JimJum12. I will cover U.S. Postage, anywhere else I'll cover the first $15.00 of postage. Bin is $225.00 Sold to Blackout21
  7. I've been trying to find words to explain the dire need for this thread, but I can't express them any better than Jim did in the note that he sent to me on Tues. TI knew something was amiss because the title of the PM was "A favor" because Jim is not the type of person to ask for one. Jim's PM "I've had a stroke and have zero money coming in. I've applied for disability, but that takes at least 6 months to kick in. Judy is also disabled, so our options are limited. I was wondering if you might possibly be able to do a charity thread for me. This is embarrassing to ask, but here I AM. I'm in intense physical therapy to learn how to care for myself ... until the first. I have enough saved for this months bills. It takes a long time to peck this out. I'm sorry to ask this awkward favor. GOD BLESS ... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) I said yes, but that I had some questions. After being involved with too many of these threads I knew some of the questions that would be asked...so here are some of the answers. He lives in Virginia. Virginia does not have disability insurance for people who are unemployed due to health reasons. They have compensation only if it's work related. He had "a cerebellum stroke affecting equilibrium and coordination" Judy (his partner) is permanently disabled with"advanced osteo arthritis". She gets a small stipend from SSI but has separate bills to cover. Jim prefers Paypal to a gofundme page. He is unable to wrap books at present and will not be able to send invoices for his sales thread just yet. A kind boarder has offered to go there and take the books and mail them out, but that's pending for a bit . I know Jim is hoping to do them himself. Jim applied for SSI through a caseworker, but the optimistic time period for that to kick in would be 6 months. I know from friends who have applied and friends who used to work for Social Security that it's usually longer. He has health insurance, but there is a $5500 deductible, that deductible is met now but it "restarts" in January. I'm not sure if it would reset for the stroke expenses, I didn't get a clear answer to that. He's presently in the hospital. I have the address if you want to send something, but he says phone calls are difficult, the phone keeps dropping, so please don't call. He is hoping to be home on Jan 1. Nothing is definite, but they are aiming for that date. He's taking intensive PT right now. There is no pension, no IRA, he can return to work when he recovers, but the doctors are not sure if he will recover enough to go back. His comics are listed in Mixed in this thread. I called Paypal this morning, there is no problem with paying him personal payments to his PP account. PLEASE write a note so they don't think he's a drug cartel. Just say ..."hope you feel better, hope you recover from the stroke quickly"...doesn't matter how you phrase it, they look at the notes if there is a lot of new activity. There is no limit on what we can send to his account. Judy is OK on food for now, I checked. He owns his trailer but not the land it's parked on, so there is rent. Writing is slow for him now, so if you wish to send him a personal note, please post it on the thread here or in CG or send it to me and I'll compile them for him. I added up his monthly expenses, plus food (that was not factored into his number) and added the Health insurance deductible and came up with a preliminary goal of $20k to cover 7 months, but that's a very modest amount which would leave him with no funds...so I'd like to go past that if we can. So let's get to this thread. Donations for Jim. If you wish to make a cash donation and do not have his PP already (it's been the same for about 10 years) please PM me, as he does not want it listed in the thread. The gofundme plan allows donations to be anonymous. PP does not. If you don't want Jim to know you sent something, you can pm me, I'll send it from my account. ..not that it's perfect, but I've done that in the past. Same for donations of books. If you want to be anonymous, pm me privately and I'll post the book for you. Please only post books that you are donating completely to Jim's fund. If you have a book or books that you wish to only offer a percentage to Jim (still very nice of you) ...please start a separate thread for that. Post a picture of the book, art, or whatever you are donating in the thread. If you have trouble posting pictures, just let me know. Specify if shipping is being covered and where you will ship to. IF you have nothing about it in your thread, everyone will guess that you are shipping anywhere and covering the cost. Because it's going to be a little tough for Jim to keep up with Paypal, I'm going to ask that the buyer of any books, send the seller a PM and copy me. Once the payment is made post a screen shot in the thread (or copy and paste). I'm suggesting the buyer send the pm because otherwise I get duplicates. Updated see below I keep a spreadsheet for every charity thread, listing every transaction. I keep it in case there are tax or other questions. Jaybuck43 has kindly offered to help on the thread and he is going to post the items donated on the thread to the spreadsheet. I may want to add a helper to the PMs if I'm not going to be around. I have a bunch of company coming this week, so I'll be on and off of the thread. Hibou is going to help keep the thread current (thank you's etc) (thanks, David) and Crassus has kindly agreed to do updates. If anyone else who is familiar with spreadsheets wants to help, please PM me. I use Google docs. 8. Dan is a pleasure to deal with, great communication, beyond prompt payment and he's a really nice guy, too! Thanks Dan!!
  9. I'll post a link here tomorrow, to the thread in G/S/B. A few people asked me to let them know, but I'll never get through all the pms. Someone mentioned sending payment to Jim directly...all funds will go to Jim directly through PP, I never want to touch any funds in a helping thread with the rare exception of people who want to remain anonymous to the recipient. . Since it's not that easy for Jim to scour PP, I'm going to set up PMs with buyers and donors, so I can verify most payments myself by viewing the PP receipts. I know it's more of a PITA for the buyer, but I'm sure/hopeful that people will understand.
  10. I'm sorry I can't edit that post in page one or the other posts, but I'm quoting anything sold to make it a little easier to check.
  11. Thanks Dwayne for taking Gunsmoke 10 and the Hulk #11 (I'm guessing that's a magazine. Sold to Azkaban
  12. Hi Lou, just look for a thread in G/S/B tomorrow to add items or buy...or if you wish to send cash, PM me for his PP address. Thank you
  13. Since I've obviously failed Calendars 101 (I thought Christmas Eve was Sat not Sunday) seems I have an extra day before people show up;) so I'm going to try and set something up starting tomorrow afternoon. I really love all the kind responses and the wonderful people on this forum. Thank you all (I was afraid I was running out of "likes').
  14. Since I don't know what one you have, I don't know if it's the same. I'll be happy to verify anything through PM
  15. Thanks everyone...for the offers of help AND the good wishes. . I know Jim is watching the thread and I'm sure the support will raise his spirits. I'm going to try to write something up tomorrow night with all the details and I will post Thursday afternoon in G/S/B and put a link here. I DO have Jim's PP address if anyone wants to donate cash. He does not want it posted for privacy reasons (which I understand) but if you want to send something in cash, just PM me. I'll be out till about 10 EST, so if I'm late replying that's why. Sha
  16. Thanks, Mike...that Challengers he bought from me eons ago. It was one of the Bakerstown books, hence the distributor spray. The colors were amazing.
  17. I got a PM yesterday from Jim. He's in the hospital and will be there until at least Jan 1. He had a stroke that affected his left side and his equilibrium. Right now he's getting intensive physical therapy, but they don't know if he will be able to work again. He's asked for some help and I will start a thread for him Thursday afternoon in G/S/B) ...meanwhile I put the information in his most recent sales thread. I know there are people waiting for books and there are more books available for purchase. His wife Judy is going to help pack, but she's also disabled, so it will be slow. I'm gathering facts at this time, but he's got no income right now...and probably won't until SSI kicks in which usually takes 6 months (I've seen it take even longer). I'm hoping to get some donations of books for the thread, so consider this a head's up. BTW, happy and healthy holidays to all. Sharon
