For Today's Madness is Mad #366 the NHRA variant. In 1998, the Toliver Mad Racing Team gave out free issues of Mad #366 with a slight cover variation, it did not have a UPC in the lower left like the newsstand version, this was not available at the newstand either. All of them were bagged in plastic and bundled with the NHRA promotion Jr Dragster Membership. As far as I know that is the only graded copy of this variation. When I sent it to CGC, this copy was still sealed in its plastic bag, so I was a little unhappy with the 6.0 grade but unless I get a 9.8, I am always unhappy with the grade, that how it goes

For today's Madness, is Mad #521 that was recalled and features the only unpublished Al Jaffee fold in. Heritage Auctions actually sold the original Art for the unpublished fold ind
Basically, it was too similar to the Auroura, CO movie theater shooting. With this issue in my collection it completes my Mad Magazine recalled set, As far as I know, the only Mad Magazines that got recalled where Mad #521, German Mad #180 and Millenium Edition Mad #1. Does anyone know of any other Mad Magazines that have been recalled that I am missing? Btw, Mad #166 the middle finger issue does not count because it was never formally recalled

Was there a corrected edition released?
May I take your scan and use it on the Grand Comics Database?
Yes, this is what Mad German #180 looks like with the released cover:

I don't own the released cover of German mad #180, only the recalled edition.
Yes, feel free to use my scan. I also have to give props to the CGC research department for knowing that this was recalled and put recalled on the label, since there is next to zero information on the internet about German Mad #180 being recalled.

After being at CGC for over a year, I got this CGC Mad Magazine back and the first Mad Magazine I have in the new CGC magazine holder. For Mad Magazine Collecting it doesn't get any more rare or obscure then this issue. This is German Mad Magazine #180 and what makes this really special is it has a recalled/ never sold/released/cover. German Mad Staff decided not to release this cover due to it offending the country of Turkey. Only a hand full of issues survived and all the ones that survive were kept by staff members of German Mad Magazine. This is also one of the very few Mad Magazines that had an official recall and gets the recall note on CGC label

For Today's Madness I have issue number 24, first Magazine format. Pictured besides it is a 9.8 of the Australian reprint of issue number 24. This is the only Australian Reprint in the CGC census, so I am the only one Mad or Stupid enough to get it graded. There is a US reprint of Issue 24 but it is much more rare than the Australian Reprint and I hope to get my hands on it someday

For the Nostalgic Mad the 5.5 is the top one on the cenus, go me. I am surprised that there are a total of 11 Nostalic Mads on the census.
I agree they were not meant to be removed and I was suprised that CGC grades them seperately.
I had to get one CGC graded because I thought it looked nice next to my CGC graded Mad#1 and I wanted to get both the main reprints of Mad#1 CGC graded.

Thanks, I have a ton of CGC graded Mads will try to post them, occasionally.
Mad #1 and two of the main reprints of Mad #1. The millenum edition is recalled due to having incorrect copywrite information, I believe they are around 4 different recalled Mad Magazines, I have them all buy the other ones have been at CGC for over a year, will post the other recalled Mad Magazines when I get them back. The nogistalic Mad was in Mad Special number #9 and ripped out, CGC grades them separately eventhough they all came with Mad Special #9

This is bad for the common collector but good for CGC and the big auction houses and dealers.
Good for CGC, they seem to want to use their subscriptions as more of a source of revenue. '
Good for big auction houses and dealers, get maximum value for the books they are selling, hoping that the buyers don't bother looking up the certification number.
This is horrible for the hobby and collectors because we don't want this. This is also bad for the hobby, because once buyers find out they bought tainted books that had the flaws hidden away, they will want out of the hobby.

Same thing happened to me sold, a CGC graded 9.4 book. Buyer wanted to return the book since he didn't agree with the grade that CGC gave it. I refused the return, he then accused me of swapping books in the CGC holder. I told him that is impossible, told him to take pictures of the slab where he felt the slab was compromised. He never responded and when ebay did their investigation they sided with the buyer in under one minute, I doubt a human looked at it.

I email Mad in with my picture and they never email me back. The way I found out I was in Mad Magazine, is my coworker saw me in the hallway and said your in Mad Magazine! I immediately went to the store and bought all the issues of Mad they had and made sure to show everyone in line and the cashier I was in Mad Magazine. I emailed them asking for my promised Alfred E. Neuman ornament and asked for a tour of Mad HQs and I of course offered Mad Staff a tour of my museum and no response. PS. On the picture in Mad they photo-shopped the 2nd framed Mad, so it is the same height as all 3 of the Mads. The middle frame is comic sized and the ones on the other are magazine sized. See attached unedited picture
