  1. One more with some interior pages: LTMM 129 -- looks like the whole Bunny family got at this one I really like the alien in the Bugs Bunny story I have a feeling that this wonderful Mary Jane and Sniffles story is a reprint -- old-school MJ and fancy lettering, much more attractive than the story in 105, for example. Jack
  2. Since we have a run of Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies going, here are some cheap readers that I picked up at a local show: LTMM 105 LTMM 107 (my favorite cover of the bunch) LTMM 123 (little bit of bunny chew on that one) LTMM 127 I also got a LTMM 99, but it's ashamed to be seen next to the gorgeous copy just posted -- the Bugs under mistletoe cover. Jack
  3. I don't remember whether I ever posted this one. I was scanning a story (and abusing the spine) for a good cause and figured I'd get a better cover scan. Heroic Comics 15 A great Golden Age book from ciorac last year (thanks). Hydroman featuring helium thieves and a Rainbow Boy crossover. Rainbow Boy with a lab scene. Music Master (cover) with first app. Downbeat (sidekick) Man O'Metal by Harry Peter and more! Jack
  4. I'll check the shelves... :wishluck: Wouldn't seeing more non-existant Four Colors either Most of the non-existent Four Colors are the books I should be receiving in trades from Jack, really Those are known as "virtual Four Colors". IRS is dealt with and end of semester is in sight. :wishluck: Jack
  5. In honor of Smilin' Jack's ranking... Four Color Comics #5 (1940); Four Color #14 (1941); Four Color #36 (1943) .... Sh-h-h! Scrooge says that Four Color Comics #5 (1940) doesn't exist. Wryly Smirkin' Jack
  6. As long as I'm posting it in the calendar thread... New Funnies 104 Still some worthwhile features at this point -- Raggedy Ann and the politically incorrect Li'l Eight Ball. Even Andy and Oswald aren't bad. Jack
  7. very nice pons. words escape me, so I will just say "wow" Same here -- spectacular. That's a Jack Binder cover? Not sure if the label means Carreno inks. Jack
  8. Nice 1106 -- do you think that the photographer had an odd sense of layout or an wicked sense of humor? Jack "...but sometimes a pistol is just a pistol"
  9. Lambiek entry Apparently (google) his name is Filipino Jack
  10. I concur. It's a neat book. I see a sig on the pic but can't make out the name. Who drew the cover? GCD says Art Peddy? on 12, Ray Isip (who?) on 16, agreeing well enough with the signature (readable at GCD -- I don't have my copy nearby). Jack
  11. Well, it's not like the person, DREW it in there for you... No, but they drew ME in! Be glad that I cropped the messy desk out of the photo Thanks, Jack You mean the desk with the Artistically placed artifacts, carefully placed in accordance within Feng Shui guidelines? I bow before your interior decorating skills. Jack
  12. That 16 is very cool Jack -183.0 °C, in fact. Thanks! Jack
  13. Well, it's not like the person, DREW it in there for you... No, but they drew ME in! Be glad that I cropped the messy desk out of the photo Thanks, Jack
  14. No side panels or Überscarcity, but here are my recent Champ Comics. I'm glad to have them "even in this grade" too! Champ Comics 12. I'm glad I don't live in that path of that plane that the Human Meteor just abandoned in mid-air. Champ Comics 16 -- looks like I need to scan that one. The highly desirable liquid oxygen panel. The lengths that some people will go to in order to sell a book! Tch. Jack
  15. ... What's the mix of stories inside? Inside? That's right, you're one of THEM! ... Captain Stand-In Jack What is this one like? Hero of the second stringer? Champion of the not quite good enough to be first? A Hollywood stunt-man gets revenge on the Nazi pilot that tortured him during WWII. The last page says that it's a continuing feature, but it seems like all the loose ends are tied up in one tale. Jack
  16. Very nice! Al Taliaferro -- I had to look that one up. I don't have a handle on his style. Can the expert spotters suggest any earmarks? Jack
  17. Two Woozy Winks fans! Thanks. "Even in this grade?" Looks great to me! Slim Jim was a pretty funny strip. Can you tell whether they're Sunday reprints or originals? Jack
  18. I'm guessing A-man #25 and #26 as the sig line so beseechingly lists. Why is he throwing Giant Tonsils around? While the villagers up front are deciding who gets to bat first? Jack
  19. Bah! Not even a wooden coaster. What's the mix of stories inside? Inside? That's right, you're one of THEM! Big Town adaptation Flicker Funnies (parody of Gone w/ the Wind -- where have I seen those before?) Johnny Danger of the Screenland Patrol. Adaptation? I don't think so. Not bad looking. Filmographs (text) Wolfred gag Captain Stand-In Garret McBard gag Mitzi of the Movies, GGA mystery Jack
  20. We interrupt this culinary discussion for a comic book interlude Dillin/Chuck Cuidera cover. Lots of reprints inside. How many Iron Fists have there been? Jack That's a hilarious cover We found the Woozy Winks fan! Next: Doiby Dickles. Jack
  21. rare, scarce, unique---whatever you call it, when are you sending it to lou? She'll have to come pry it from my cold, clammy fingers! But it coordinates so well with my matching bikini and sedan! Thanks. Impulse buy. Jack
  22. We interrupt this culinary discussion for a comic book interlude Dillin/Chuck Cuidera cover. Lots of reprints inside. How many Iron Fists have there been? Jack
  23. Movie Comics 1, December 1946. Lubbers cover. Cool full-page Sheena ad inside back cover. The scan is BRUTAL to that yellow cover -- it's really not that ugly! Scarce? I've never seen it. Jack
  24. Not exactly a newsstand pic, but comics-reading in the media. This is from a 1960 issue of "TV Radio Mirror" -- Dee Finch from WNEW in New York. He and his radio partner, Gene Kalvan, are dubbed "Masters of the Mad Lib" in the mag. A condescending "even Superman" (127) comment, isn't it? Mrs. Finch looks to me kind of pizzed off about the whole thing. Jack
