  1. I have a few, typically bought dirt cheap (who's surprised?) My favorites are Raggedy Ann and Andy and Pogo Parade. Silly Symphonies and Little Lulu are fun too. Jack PS *look at list* more than a few
  2. I love to scan I flip through one book while another is being scanned. Makes it fun I like it too. There's something about it unlike the majority of Mickey Mouse covers and esp. most after this one. The other MM I picked up has a blah cover but there's a story inside with MM and Goofy stuck in the Middle-Ages and those are always fun. More pick-ups. Probably shouldn't show my ratty copies but oh well. It's not like I paid for the Chip'N Dale or the MJ&S posted above. The dealer threw them in the deal with some cheapo Uncle Scrooges I needed. Free Barks! Can't beat that Plenty more Four Colors at the show but I had to refrain myself and had to pay for those Nuts and Atlas books I picked up too. Not the nicest Alice but it's a nice wrap-around cover. Photoshop accentuated the blue beyond what the cover actually looks like but they are deep enough naturally - You should see the ratty copy of 331 I picked up from Big/Little Mike yesterday -- it makes yours look like a Church pedigree. The effect of the wraparound cover is lost when most of the spine is missing. A hole-filler for about a buck. This one looks familiar I think it's one that I picked up dirt cheap several years ago from a very small shop near our house during the few years it was open. At the time, I didn't even know why the issue numbers were so high! Little did I know that I'd get started on the series. Familiar story? Jack
  3. Generous offer -- I have that one, remarkably in higher than 3.0! Thanks, Jack
  4. You really did well! I wish the show yesterday had the Mary Janes -- although I didn't get to all the tables. You're a more persistent scanner than I am, too. Great cover! Another one I'm missing. Why do malevolent ants wear yellow gloves? Jack (To keep their hands warm.)
  5. In making you jealous? I got more books including a couple of MJ&S. I assume you have them all? Here are some of my other pick-ups. I picked up 2 fave DD stories in the mix - Who does the art for MJ and S? I noticed that Hubbard did similar work on Peter Wheat. Just wondering. bb Apparently the strip changed hands a lot -- Jerry Bails' Who's Who says about 13 artists (below). The strip does vary during its history, but I can't ID the artists. I mostly associate the feature with Chase Craig and Al Hubbard -- I didn't know he started on it so late -- so your attribution may be right. I don't know the date of the MJ&S Four Colors. 6. In making you jealous? I got more books including a couple of MJ&S. I assume you have them all? Here are some of my other pick-ups. I picked up 2 fave DD stories in the mix - Yes, green eyes here (mostly). Your 205 (great cover) looks much nicer than my Fair. No 328. 367 in in the mail. No Mary Jane and Sniffles (*sniff* *sob*) No 788. Your copies all look very attractive. All from your local show? Ya done good. Jack
  7. That's just such a low blow. Yes, but it's all I got! You succeeded! Nice one. Cotton Woods (837) should be by the same artist. You must have that one since I have your double. Even The Parent Trap? Hang on, maybe I shouldn't mention Hayley that way... Jack
  8. Nope, local show. There may be some duplicates for you too. Jack OOOOhhh goody goody ... Of course, when I'll see them is anybody's guess Tit for tat -- you can bug me about being slow about rummaging through the piles (and please keep at it), but I can trump that just by showing my Four Color 93! Good luck. Sellers seem generally happy to find customers for their moribund Dell stock. Jack
  9. I'm glad you did post it Jack. That's one I rarely see (thumbs u Thanks! More pride-and-joys on the Four Color thread. Jack
  10. What the heck, I might as well post it here too. One of them's a duck. Four Color 71, loaded with Walt Kelly goodness. Jack
  11. Nothing wrong with those books. Sometimes, it's an accomplishment just to find the early #s. Here's my #19 I found just last week: I saw yours and was jealous when you posted it (mentioning half-price box), but I didn't have long to stay jealous. I can't complain about the price I paid. (I can complain about the total amount I spent today though. Oy.) Jack
  12. Nope, local show. There may be some duplicates for you too. Jack
  13. Thanks! I didn't know that 71 was loaded with Kelly until I opened it! Confirmed in Overstreet. I don't know whether he did all the artwork, but you sure can see his hand on most pages. Jack
  14. Great stuff, Seadevils! Switching over to Dell, here are three funny-animal Four Colors that I'm glad to have in any condition. Four Color 19 -- one of my favorite covers of the run. A rousing adventure story with great artwork inside too! Four Color 71 -- Walt Kelly artwork and supposedly one of the toughest books in the run. Four Color 129 -- supposed to be another tough one, but Gerber gives it SI 3. (#$%^ rust and water damage) Jack
  15. OK, take your pot-shots at the condition, but here are four that I'm glad to have any copy of! Four Color 19 -- one of my favorite covers of the run. A rousing adventure story with great artwork inside too! Four Color 63 -- very early Roy Rogers Four Color 71 -- Walt Kelly artwork and supposedly one of the toughest books in the run. Four Color 129 -- supposed to be another tough one, but Gerber gives it SI 3. (#$%^ rust and water damage) Jack
  16. Interesting that DC didn't bother with a full origin story until Robert Kanigher was scripting and Irv Novick was doing the covers. I guess Moulton and Peter were more interested in telling fanciful tales than in continuity. Peter did the interiors though, right? I wish they had left him on covers, not that this is a bad effort by Novick. Congrats! Jack
  17. Our Gang Comics 17 -- War Bond cover, Walt Kelly lead story, Barks on Barney Bear, and the other backups look interesting too. Four Color 226 -- the cannibal cover. This is the pig equivalent of a ghost walking by with a human leg on a platter! Is Porky upset because his Dahmer-like secret life has been exposed? Jack
  18. This one has surely been posted but here it is again. Four Color 226 -- the cannibal cover! What the heck is Porky Pig doing with a ham around his house? I like the ghost covers. Jack
  19. Now, THAT's a funny cover! "...YOUR SECRET GOVERNMENT PROJECTS..!!" Jack Strangely enough, my wife says this to me all the time! Does it make you spill your drink? Jack
  20. Now, THAT's a funny cover! "...YOUR SECRET GOVERNMENT PROJECTS..!!" Jack
  21. FC 19 from a half-price box -- WOO HOO! Here's my new FC 73 from The Seller We Must Hate And FC 5, 256 and 367 on their way from shiverbones! Jack
  22. The poor, neglected Four Color thread. Another batch came in from the seller everyone (except me) loves to hate -- Mile High Comics. Here's #73, a 64-year-old Gerber 6 in presentable, solid, good condition for about $10 shipped. No time to scan any others tonight. Jack
  23. I'm gonna get me a copy of "Murder"! (Actually, there was Murder Incorporated and Murderous Gangsters.) Jack
