  1. Nice copy of a tough book to get in high grade
  2. That's an outstanding copy of one of my favorite SA X-Men ! Congrats on picking that one
  3. My most recent pick, and a great 8.5 it is (looks more like a 9.0 to me!)
  4. I just picked this one from Metro, at a great price
  5. Very nice copy You should slab that one...if you're in CGC books that is.
  6. Hi all, for those interested in the FF 15 CGC 8.5 White listed on eBay, take note that this one was a great looking 7.5 that was pressed into an 8.5. Here's the before and after scans : I have nothing against pressing, but I prefer proper disclosing...
  7. This board is a nice place to sell also ! BTW if you have scans of some of your ST and want to share them...go ahead !
  8. Is it the grade or the fact you never saw those ? I upgrade my copies when I can, but I found it pretty tough to complete that run. Maybe the higher grade copies are on the other side of the Atlantic
  9. For a change, it won't be an addition to my ST run, but new books added to my childhood pet project : to complete my french-translated "Interpresse" Batman run Those were published in Belgium and sold in Europe and Canada from 1972-1980 and there were 103 issues in the run. BTW if any of you European or Canadian members have such Batman books (especially in high grade), PM me !
  10. I PMed Rich (Korvac Saga) about this and here's what he had to say (reprinted without his permission ) : "I actually bought my first CGC ST (#118 9.0) from Sullypython on ebay circa 4 years ago! I think he owns a comic store in Nevada or thereabouts." Anybody knows more ? I sent him a PM via the Registry inviting him to this thread (and also to let him know about my interest for his ST 103 CGC 8.5 OW ! )..but I did not get any reply I did a search under "username" and it seems that Sullypython is registered since 2002. Go there for more info.

  12. Not me. I pity the poor guy (or gal) that picked up that Oakland ST 157 CGC 9.4 OW at BIN price ($300) just to see another copy pop up less than hour after in CGC 9.4 White...at a BIN of $200!! Worst of it is that it was clearly annouced that a ST 157 CGC 9.4 would be posted along other "Iceberg' books...
  13. Nice pick up ! At that price, will you have this one restored to repair its spine ?
  14. A new addition to my ST run. This is probably the ugliest Marvel Silver Age cover that I can think of ! Focus on the label or you'll go blind ! Why didn't they use Ditko once in while to do a ST cover escapes me
  15. Good question ! My ST collecting started about a year and a half ago. I was going back to collecting after a 15 years break and knew I wanted to focus on Silver Age Marvels. Being a Kirby fan, I was quickly attracted to Strange Tales especially ST 101-109 since they had great covers, included early FF apparitions (that were much cheaper than the originals) and were not easy to find (a good thing if you want to manage your comic book collecting budget ) The first book I ever bought on eBay was a raw ST 106 for $80...that subsequently became a CGC 8.5 OWW A good Omen At first I wanted to focus on FF apparitions only, but more and more I liked this title as it included some notable "first" : ST 102 : 1st Wizard ST 104 : 1st Trapster ST 106 : 1st FF cover apparition outside of FF comic book (same date as ASM 1) ST 110 : 1st Doctor Strange ST 114 : 1st Captain America apparition since Golden Age ST 116 : 1st Thing cross-over ST 123 : 1st Thor cross-over ST annual 2 : 1st Spider-man cross-over (and 4th overall apparition) I then decided to eventually build an 8.5 run of ST 101-129 (the last good cover IMO) But then Rich (Korvac Saga) opened his vault and unleashed all his ST dupes that he hoarded in the last years...and I had no choice but to go up to ST 134 That being said, a lot of books are tough to find in high grade, since some collectors still hold on to them ( I don't blame them...well, maybe a little!)...but it only raises the thrill of the hunt.
  16. Very impressive. The colors inside & out look quite fresh. Congrats !
  17. Since some you Strange Tales fans are not aware of this ST Pedigree table compiled by Steve Filosa, here it is for your perusal : Now if one of you have the Northland ST 105 CGC 8.5
  18. October, I have only one question for you : How come your scans are so great (color + sharpness) ?
  19. Nice books ! Peter, given the number of Thor you bought in 2006, there's probably not much issues missing in building your 9.8 run
