  1. Very nice copy! Show us the back cover when you'll get it It is a very good looking 6.5 (a high potential one ) Congrats!
  2. If it's from Marnin, I don't expect you to have a problem Very nice book (and a great coloring job!)
  3. My understanding, is the following : With heavy pre chipping you can get to the 8.0 level (my ST 103 for example) if the rest of the book is reeaal nice. With light pre chipping (see ST 105 Pacific Coast copy on Heritage's archives) you can get as high as 9.0. When a chip falls down then you get seriously hammered by CGC (see ST 108 CGC 7.5 copy on Heritage's archives and Burntboy's FF 16 CGC 7.0 on TVComics.com) Still, it was a gamble when I bought that raw ST 103... as I had no certitude of getting that 8.0, although as you pointed out , that book is incredibly fresh (supple pages, great color saturation and gloss...and nice smell! ) and has great structure appart from the pre chipping. It is one of my grail and it will be a keeper for a long time.
  4. Very nice X-Men 16! Now to the grading section...
  5. don't want to rain on your parade, but 8.0 for a comic with all the visible/extensive damage on the right front cover?!?!?! regards That damage is called pre marvel chipping, a manufacturing defect resulting from the use of dull blade...if you want to know more about it there used to be a long thread on this in the grading & resto section... Some are allergic to it, not me If it wasn't for that, this book would most probably be a 9.2 and I would never had the opportunity to buy it...given my budget and the fact that ST 103 is one of the most difficult Silver Age Marvel comic book to get in decent or high grade... Best, Frederic
  6. Fifth and last one : X-Men 15 To my surprise, CGC gave it a Universal 8.0 OW...this is surprising given the 1x3cm water stain near the spine of the back cover (and some blunting on the bottom of the spine) but who am I to complain !
  7. Fourth : Strange Tales 120 (Harry "Burntboy"s copy) Thank you CGC (and Harry!), I got the expected Universal 8.5...with OWW pages! This one's a keeper, and the former Blowout copy will soon be back in the hands of it's previous owner...
  8. Third : Strange Tales 116 (Mr Pym's copy) To my disapointment, CGC gave it only a Universal 8.0 OWW...I had hoped for a 8.5 but the chocolate milk stains on front cover killed it! At the end of the day, it's an incredible 8.0 copy of a hard to find book...
  9. Second one : Strange Tales 103 Mass. Copy To my satisfaction, CGC gave it a Universal 8.0 White
  10. Received the grades from CGC on 5 books I submitted recently... Let's start with Avengers 10 : CGC gave it a Universal 7.5 White (no surprise there for me as it was previously a CGG 7.5 White )
  11. As you know, I have a nice ST 120 in CGC 8.5 , and I'm waiting for another copy to be CGCed (Burntboy's) It's in Sarasota, and the grade will come up in the next two weeks...I'll PM you depending on the outcome
  12. very nice new books, and this one is my favorite of the bunch..... Yes, I agree, and one of the few SA Cap covers I've never owned . . . Congratulation! This is a great Kirby cover!
  13. That's a real nice grade that you got for this one (and OWW pages) ! Congrats!
  14. Jim, please post a scan in this thread when you get it!
  15. Jim, I'm curious to see if you did close the deal on that one...
  16. I disagree. Overall composition is nice and the coloring job is interesting. As far as the Thing is concerned, go see FF 18 & 19. He's as "rocky" on those covers. The difference with ST 116 is the use of greytone... Nice copy!
  17. No. In fact, I did not go after it since I bought recently a nice ST 104 CGC 8.5 OW from Korvac Saga and two other ST that I will send to CGC... That ST 107 went for a much lower price than Burntboy's I'm sure a 8.5 copy will surface at some point (without writting on the cover!) Until then, I really think you should give a shot at the 9.4 copy on Pedigree
  18. Kudos to Korvac Saga for a very nice Strange Tales 104 in CGC 8.5 and also for lightning speed shipping
  19. Great pick up! Very nice colors and it seems quite glossy!
  20. Congrats! This is a great cover and the colors look newstand fresh )
  21. Here's what I got today : A nice CGC 8.5 OW copy of ST 104 Kudos to Korvac Saga!
  22. does this mean the raw #120 i sold you didn't do too well??? Don't worry Harry, I have not send it to CGC yet. I think the copy you sold me has a fair chance of hitting the 8.5 mark (the copy seems so fresh! ) It's just that ST120 being scarce (especially since I'm sticking to CGCed 8.5 copies in my ST run), I just wanted to protect my downside with this purchase...If your copy comes out a 8.5, it will be the one I'll keep
  23. New addition to my Strange Tales collection, both are CGC 8.5 OW : Kudos to Rahigh
  24. Kudos to Rahigh for two great CGCed Strange Tales : 117 & 120. Great atomic bomb-proof packaging too!
