    Anyone ever seen these? They were offered in Marvel Comics in 1966-67. I still need the Hang Loose button as there were 5 of them.

    Very jealous. Never seen anything other than a picture (but I am in UK). These are genuinely scarce and usually sell for several hundred dollars each. Produced by the Super Heroes Club (who also did some Marvel posters) they were advertised as Batty Bullpen Booster Buttons. As you say there is a fifth “Hang Loose” button.

    I found this thread by chance . Some great videos there . Any information about this decal sheet in particular I pictured below it seems impossible to find compared to others I’ve seen .

    Marvelmania produced 4 decal sheets of which this is one. This one is different from the others in that it shows only heads of the characters, it is scarcer than the others as you have observed.

    Cheers Yoz. My first choice - CRETINSLONDON@whateverthisis.net - was already taken.

    And thanks again for being the only person on this forum to read and comment on the wordpress article :)

    I did read it but you've now shamed me into giving you a Like.

    About 16 minutes in he pulls out a UKPV Amazing Spider-man and claims these were printed a day before the cents copies - don't think I've ever heard a day before mentioned.

    ST #188 last panel says 'follow Dr Strange in his own title and in the Defenders' so seems to indicate this is the last issue.

    Strange Tales #188 is another which might exist as a pence (but probably not). MSH bucks the trend with the last but one and two issues turning up as rare pence issues.
    As an aside my favourite title Silver Surfer had Herb Trimpe lined up as penciler for #19.

    I miss the days when the discovery of a new Marvel UKPV was still a possibility. And the days when this thread would chug merrily along.

    If any more turn up my bet would be Journey Into Mystery (Vol 2) #19 or Where Monsters Dwell #38. Both of these series had the previous few issues distributed then the last issue went ND - just like Sgt Fury.

    @Garystar

    Remember this one Gary?

    I think this is the first copy I've seen to buy since one finally turned up years back:

    I won't be going for it myself, but if anyone else is frantic for a copy....

    Bit of an odd description. I’ve still got the copy I got several years ago just to see it was real. I remember we were debating how UK distribution of last issues were quite often a reverse of preceding issues distribution and mooted this as one which might turn up and low and behold it did.

  7. The Avengers weekly, released in UK week ending 22 September 1973. Reprints Avengers #4 and Dr Strange from Strange Tales #115;

    The free gift was a set of 4 transfers - Hulk, Spider-man, Daredevil and Thor. These transfers were dampened and then applied to the skin;

    The transfers were by Spanish artist Lopez Espi (He also did a set posters you could buy through Marvel UK and many covers for European Marvel editions). Unfortunately you can't appreciate his art on these transfers without applying them but here are stickers of Spider-man, Daredevil and Thor which have the same images;

    Well, you know the rules.  We confidently assume it doesn't exist. And then @Garystar logs in and sends us a picture (from deep in his labyrinth) of the whole collection sitting on a shelf.  And even the shelf is an autographed limited edition. (worship)

    Sorry can't help as my collection is all Marvel, wonder what the poster was. Contemporary Marvel figures would have been Mattel Secret Wars series and none of mine have any stickers. 1990s Toybiz / Tyco figures were more likely to have stickers telling us what we couldn't get.

    Anyone that's really into this kind of stuff should look for these 2 books focusing on Silver Age and Early Bronze Age Marvel Collectibles. I looked for years for reference books that contained all the Marvel stuff put out in the 1960s and 1970s and these are the best source I have found.

    I 100% agree, essential for any Marvel memorabilia collector. I have mentioned these a few times in my posts. I have bought a few things direct from the author including the Marvelmania mailing tube in the video.

    MMMS Hulk Poster Production Materials (Marvel, 1966). Make Mine Marvel! This large stat image of the Hulk (taken from the Jack Kirby side of the cover from Tales To Astonish #67) was used to create the much beloved Hulk poster offered in 1966 Merry Marvel Marching Society poster set. The image was created from a 18.5" tall stat image that was then altered with a small amount of original art shading, and white paint highlights. This group comes with the black, yellow, and red rubylith overlay acetate sheets for color separation work by the printer. The stat is affixed to a 15" x 20 illustration board with a few ripples in it. The board is tanned and the stat is starting to come loose, otherwise in Very Good condition and a wonderful part of Marvel Comics history.

    @Garystar will love them.

    Very jealous, still on my wants list. There was a set on eBayUK not too long ago for £800, I held out hoping price would drop but they just disappeared, probably sold off eBay. There is someone in France currently selling the rarer set with red and white header for €995.

    I did Gary. Even if you're not intending to collect, it's a great trip down memory lane for the collector of a certain age. Looking forward to the next one :)

    Great. I started collecting in 1973 but such was distribution in my area I was as likely to pick up issues from 1969/70. I used to covet all the Marvelmania memorabilia being offered for sale, sadly it was another 25 years before I started getting any of it. Revisiting those ads still takes me back to my childhood days.

    That kept me busy for an hour yesterday - cheers Gary. I didn't know most of that, especially the shenanigans stuff!

    Cheers, hope you enjoyed it. My intention with the video is as an aid for collectors wanting to put a kit together now or in future. I didn’t really want to get into the story of Marvelmania too much but it’s hard not to go into it to some extent and the “shenanigans” do explain a few things like why there are two #4s.

    Hope to get FOOM/WAM video out before end of year.

    I imagine someone will now prove me wrong. My money is on @Garystar

    I'll have to have a think, as you observe Kirby's cover output was predominantly 1960's and Kane 1970's so there can't be many possibilities of Kirby replacing Kane, just a small window on Kirby's return in 1975 to 1978. I've sold all my reprints post 1971 so will have to have a search on-line and Gerber photo-journal.

    Kane did do some fantastic covers in the 1970's, some really nice ones get overlooked on western reprints.

    When series start, they generally have free gifts with the first issues.  Nice conditioned copies that still have the free gift can go for startlingly amounts.  Someone's punting issue 2 of 2000AD for £,7000 at the moment.
