  1. Dang, nice group I need to get mine sold before your 27 get out lol! I'm considering getting my hands on a few more right now, but I don't know if it will be worth it or not. Part of the gamble lol. Edit: Do you think any of the others will go up? Like #2 #3 #4 etc? Or even the 2nd printing or other printings of #1? or the variant?
  2. I figured those bids would mostly be fake, hopeful, but I assumed that much. Seemed like a huge jump out of no where. I didn't realize how much of a hit it would be though. It's wild.
  3. What do you all think will happen with Naomi #1 First Print? I got a few copies when they were $25.00 each. I now see a 9.8 with 5 days left on eBay already at $587.77. Since I'm new to this, I don't have any knowledge to base a guess off of. I'm just curious what you all think will happen. Will it rise for a few weeks, months, and then crash? Will it slowly rise? Just hype for a few weeks? Curious, thanks!
  4. I’ve come to see that on most books, unless it was an AF 15, or Tec 27 lol, I guess those coverless could still fetch a pretty penny. Yea, I didn’t get hurt, I’ll just store them away unless I do a big sale on the forums eventually from all my “noob” purchases. Now I have a focus on what I really enjoy collecting, this was more from when I was hopping around, and being impulsive. Thank you for the response! @fifties
  5. It was an eBay auction. I was still pretty new in the hobby at the time. I’m still very new, but I have a better idea of things now. I did figure because of the purchase price, it wasn’t going to be worth much, but I just wanted to see if maybe I was wrong. I do appreciate the input! @PeterPark
  6. Hey everyone! I hope everyone is having a great evening! I like getting first hand information from you all here. You all have helped me avoid getting scammed on eBay, taught me everything I know, and really really have helped me out with deals and knowledge. This is why I turn to you all for most questions, and I apologize if they may be bad or stupid, but it’s only because I trust you all for the right information. So this is just me saying thanks to all of you! Now for the main question. I picked up about 5 copies a while ago of “Police Comics #120”. About 3/4 from the top, on all of them, the top 1/4 is missing from all of the covers. I don’t mind posting pictures, but I’m not looking for a specific evaluation or anything like that, I just wanted to know if they were rare, valuable, or even sought after, or if these need to be held in the “store for life” box lol. I paid under 10 bucks for all of them, so I’m assuming they aren’t, but I just wanted to check with you all before I forget about them. Thanks for the help!
  7. @Ovrclck That TC #44.. so jealous! Not saying the others aren't great, but TC #44 is one of my favorites!
  8. Me as well! I am not familiar with it, but this could be very handy!
  9. @greggy Amazing as always, I love to see all of your submissions. Awesome!!
  10. Very true although, I don’t see where they were talking about according to the grading notes. Supposedly a fold on the front and rear covers. I’m still looking for them lol. Ahhh, yea it is what it is! Yes, this was with it pressed. I definitely could. Not sure if I want to get rid of it, or keep it at this point. I may just end up keeping it.
  11. I know these aren’t raws, but I picked these up from a fellow boardie! I’m obsessed with “Dreaming Eagles #1”. It is signed by 4 of the Tuskegee pilots (edit: Also signed by Garth Ennis), which the comic is about. Pretty awesome to me!
  12. Everyone I asked thought it would come back higher, I thought so too. I got it cheap, but still a little disappointed. Oh well!
  13. Could you please add a set for the series "Animosity" - AfterShock comics By Marguerite Bennett? I know you said it is based off popularity, I think there are quite a few that have been submitted for grading. At least, for #1 and #2. Based off popularity is not a factor... There just needs to be at least 2 books in the series, meaning issue one and issue two (or three, or four) graded by the CGC. We do not build sets that is one book and variants. Not a problem for Animosity. Also, in an Earlier post I asked for a "Dreaming Eagles" set to be made. For #1, can you please add the Hoknes Variant? "Hoknes Comics Edition" was how it was made out on my slab. It was a limited to just 100 copies if I remember correctly. My copy is also signed by four of the real life pilots, that the story is actually about - Four surviving Tuskegee Airman signed this. (SS Series slab). I don't know if this makes a difference, when adding the amount of points in the registry - but I would assume that having four of the pilots that the comic is about, is rarer than having the artist themselves sign it. But that is just an assumption. The Hoknes Comics Edition was included in the set. You do get extra points for it being signature series, but the system is not going to recognized who the book was signed by, just that it is signed. So you will not be able to get extra points for who signed it, I'm sorry. Super cool book though...
  14. Even though it gets hammered, nice lot you received. I second that, I need to learn from you lol. I would only be able to get that on a prescreen! Very nice!
  15. I have some credit, so I guess I’ll go ahead and send it out. I have few other moderns I need done, so I’ll send them all together. Thank you all again. These are the grades I were hoping to receive at least!
  16. Also on the bottom left hand corner back side, it appears as if there is a sort of bend/mark there as well. It’s hard to tell in the picture, but if you zoom in you can slightly see it.
  17. That got me as well when I pulled it out. I didn’t remember seeing it, and actually panicked lol. I had to look twice just to make sure. Thank you all for the input. Do you all think a press, or anything else could bring it to the 9.6-9.8 point? Or is it too hard to predict that high of a grade? Sorry if the questions are dumb, I don’t mean for them to be. Just trying to learn from you all! Thanks again!
  18. Hello everyone! Let me start by saying thank you for the help ahead of time. I decided to pull this out because of the price increase in the comic. I’m no good at grading, and wanted to see what you all would think about the grade I would get if I were to submit to CGC. I have added a bunch of pictures. I apologize ahead of time for the lighting, my scanner is no good, so this is what I am stuck with for now. I’ll try to get better ones if needed. Can you please explain why you decided the grade you choose? So I can get a better idea of what to look for, and so I can learn! That would be very helpful. Also, If you think it would score higher with a press or if there is anything else I could do to increase the grade. If you could predict a grade on this as well, that would be very helpful, if not, it’s not a big deal. Im really only looking to submit, if it will be a high grade, if not, I’ll put it back in the storage box.
  19. Sorry for responding when this is posted in the wrong part of the forum. I sent one in, in September for pressing/grading. It was a modern book, and was not fast tracked. The pressing has been completed but I do not expect the grading to be completed until the end of March based off the timeline they gave me. You are always welcome to reach out to CGC directly if it is that imperative to you, to find out. Although, there is a Topic posted in another part of the forum with the current turn around times, and people are sharing how long it has taken them for everyone to stay updated.
  20. I’m assuming it is the norm to use the vuescan software with this? I found one for a couple hundred bucks on eBay, and have been in desperate need of a scanner that can handle CGC slabs.
  21. Great review of their service - I am all using this now, just taking interest in what everyone else is using. It’s also awesome to see what everyone is using that they developed themselves. I will probably continue to use them to be honest. I was looking at what I have, and just dread putting it all in a spread sheet, I just hate being dependent on them for my collection. We know how technology is, it’s great until it fails or glitches. That’s what scares me. Although, I didn’t even think about the search function as I haven’t used that part yet. I really just need to sit down and play with their system more to see all of the different functions, and scan in some comics they don’t have in their database. I probably just need to suck it up, and input where and I’m what box each comic is, as this in the long term, will drastically cut down on my “searching for one specific comic” time. I hope this thread can be beneficial to all new comers, and old timers alike. Everyone has inputted such great ideas of what to use! I appreciate everyone’s feedback and for the reason they use it. Actually now now that I think about it, someone mentioned color coding, which I might start color coding by box, and possibly if I get more time, add dividers and color coordinate those as well. But who knows I always say something then change my mind.
  22. I was also born in 1992. I have only been collecting for less than a year, but have always had some sort of attachment to it. My brother always collected when we were kids, and my dad has some (he's in his 90's, so still trying to find his stash, he said it's some where in the basement, which I can't even imagine what he would have if they are still in the basement lol). Anyways, I've also sold on eBay, and my girlfriend talked me into buying a group of 300 or so comics with the intention to sell, for less than 100 bucks at an estate sale, after most had been picked through. Now I regret not purchasing it all, on the first day, but it is what it is. I always followed Marvel and D.C. growing up, and then TMNT, things like that, but never myself purchased any comics. Needless to say, after purchasing those 300, I was hooked, and didn't even sell one. Now, the difference between me, and most of you here, is that I don't typically read the comics. I do this for the collecting, for the hunt, for the completion of the set/series. I thoroughly enjoy collecting them, however, reading them is not really my thing. I do read up on them, and get as much information as I can, which tells me a lot of the story, but if you asked me a specific thing that happened in the book, I probably wouldn't be able to tell you. I'm not ashamed of this by any means, reading them just isn't my thing. Collecting them is. That doesn't mean I care about the book any less than any of you all do. I still follow the story line (although, maybe not as well as you all that have read every page of the comic). I think another thing a lot of people have to overcome is the attitude of other people. Mostly everyone is pretty helpful, but we have all seen how rude some can be. It doesn't bother me, I just ignore it, it is what it is. A lot of people can be extremely un-helpful though. I mean - we are here to learn, we are here to get advise from the older generations. We are all here because we enjoy the same thing. It kind of annoys me more than anything, how some can act - even if it seems like a stupid question, we ask because the older generations have the experience we don't. You will give us a link to google, and tell us we are stupid for not searching it, but if we used google first, and then assumed it was right, we would be stupid for believing everything we read lol. So, it definitely helps a lot more when the older generations, and the guys/gals that have been doing this a lot longer than us, are helpful. Plus a lot of us younger guys look up to you all, and the collections you all have created. When it comes to people my age buying more expensive books, it gets hard. I have a mortgage, I haven't peaked in my career yet, I have a lower savings fund then most of you all here, I dump money in my 401k, and things of that nature. Not to mention all the new home owners expenses, of things we "missed" during the inspection. Truck payment, car payment etc.. Not trying to brag by any means of what I have, what I'm trying to explain is, it gets harder and harder to buy a book that's 1k or more. Now in this time since I started collecting, I've spent a lot more than I should have, some of which was learning, and some of which was trying to catch up on all the awesome series I wanted, and then hopping to another series, because I get over excited. I myself, do not own a book with a value of more than 1k (unless the Spiderman 300 I sent in comes back at 9.6+ which I really expect it to). I own a lot that are less than 1k (750-500-250 etc, etc..) but I just haven't had the opportunity or the funds to buy one that I'm looking for, for over $1,000. Plus with all the bills we have it gets hard to justify spending that much. (I'm a Kia mechanic - well technician is what we are called now, I spend as much on tools monthly as I do on my truck payment). I will say, my girlfriend is a trooper. She started me on this whole thing, but I don't think she expected it to take off like it did. But she has done her best to learn as well, take interest in what I like, and surprise me occasionally with a box of comics she picked from the store herself, or buying me a lot online. She is by no means stopping me, although when I get 10+ shipments a week in, she has to make a comment if I'm spending my money wisely, which I don't blame her. All in all, until people my age get on our feet, with all of our new found expenses, it becomes harder and harder for us to justify spending this much. I only know of one other person that collects comics, and it just so happens we work together. He's probably 8 years older than me. So I don't know anyone within my age that collects, or even gets it. Most of the time my friends give me a "Hard time" over it. But they could really care less if I do or don't. Now, for people that are my age, and haven't purchased a home, live with their parents, or have chosen a different life path - Like a lot of the millennials we see, I could see them being able to purchase 1k+ books if they don't have these kind of expenses, but that's if they have a good job, or if their family funds it - if they are even into comics. You know, it's very sad, but being in the work force at my age, the turn over rate for people my age and younger is HUGE. They drop like flies. They can't handle it. They are typically more lazy, uninterested, or just don't take pride in what they do, and are just trying to get by with minimal effort. So, the guys I work with - we have all been working together for 5+ years. We can't handle bringing in anyone else new, because of the lazy attitude a lot of the people my age or younger have. I just want to be clear, I'm not saying this is every millennial, but this is based off of my experience and what I have seen. So I don't know what younger people than me will do when it comes to collecting comics. I guess from what I see on my side, it doesn't look too promising. I have no idea what that holds for higher end books in the future either. Does that mean AF 15 will drop? No clue. I guess we will have to wait and see what kind of demand is created from the younger generations. It's also awesome to see all of you buying comics for your children, and supporting them, we just can't tell yet it if will just be a thing for now, or if this will develop into something they continue to pursue.
  23. I see that now, my apologies, for some reason my phone wasn’t showing the link, had to view it from my computer. - Thanks the fast update, see you at the show! @KingOfRulers
  24. If you don’t mind me asking, how does that work? I leave my book with them, pay a fee, and then they get the sig for me, then send it to CGC on my behalf? @KingOfRulers
