  1. 618-621 Faithless 1-4 Picked this series up as I have always been a fan of Brian Azzarello's. I didn't post a picture of the issues as they are borderline nsfw. Story is interesting if a little bit gratuitous. I'm interested in seeing where he goes with this.
  2. Of all the comics of the 80's, Calvin and Hobbes are still my favorites and really hold up. My 12 year old loves them and is able to relate.
  3. unfortunately not. Art is still decent though.
  4. Found a couple cheap modern pieces for the collection yesterday. Really love getting Transformers for under ten bucks and I wanted that Jabba's playsets for a while. Got it for $25 so it was well worth it.
  5. 609-617 Taarna 1-4: I have been a fan of Heavy Metal since I was a kid. I remember watching the movie (edited I think) late at night on WTBS and my favorite parts were the undead WW2 short and Taarna. So I was super excited to see that they made a comic with her. I tried getting the complete series, but then saw the collected edition and had to snag it. I really enjoyed the story and it was very evocative of 70s and 80s era scifi/fantasy. Fun read. Dark Knight Returns: The Golden Child. I’m not going to lie, I don’t follow the DKR universe very closely. I grabbed this because it looked like a oneshot and the character design on the cover looked pretty cool. It was a crazy read. Not being versed in the universe did leave some confusion and the jumping around in plot was a bit hard to follow, but man did it have some cool scenes. I really liked the art, though it’s not typically the style that I prefer. All in all, I found it worth the price, despite some of the criticisms I had of it. Bounty Hunters 1 &2: Decent Star Wars read. Not sure how I feel about it yet. Story started out fast and left some questions, which I suppose was the point, but not knowing any of the characters beyond Fett and Bossk, it was a bit confusing at first. Not sure how I feel about the “central” character as not enough time has been spent with him and I get the feeling that the book will follow a bunch of characters so development may be slow going. I’m going to stick it out for a few more issues as I think I can see some of where they are going but it’s the weakest of my pull list. Marvels X and Marvel: I really enjoyed Earth X and Marvels so anything that calls back to those is automatically on my radar. Really enjoyed the Marvels X premise and I’m sure by the time the series wraps up, I will be revisiting the Earth X series. Marvel was cool as I really like stand alone stories and love the multiple stories in one book premise. These two will be added to the pull list. Random DC stuff: Love the finale of the DCeased mini. Cool reveals and some hope shines through at the end. Really liked action comics as Con-El is back! Also leading many in the universe to realize that they’ve been through a Crisis. I’m not a huge JRJ fan though, and it takes away from some of the story for me. Far Sector is interesting and I look forward to seeing how the story develops. Skin Thirteen was an accidental purchase. Thought I was buying the Gen Thirteen issue, but didn’t look closely enough. Oh well. It was a silly parody of Gen 13 and really made fun of the T&A. Not super happy I bought it, but looking at Evil Bay, it looks like it’s worth a few bucks more than I paid for it, so I will probably resell it if I can find someone who wants it. The Boys: Dear Becky: Anything new to do with the Boys and I’m in. Loved the series from the start and will always be ready to read further adventures of Wee Hughie. Transformers Galaxies: Short arcs focusing on developing the Transformers universe and less than main characters? Yes please. Really enjoyed this short Cliff Jumper arc and can’t wait to see where the series goes next. Another one added to my pull list.
  6. I'm not sure. I'm still figuring out DC continuity so I don't know if the mini series is canon. Or is it set in the near future? It seems like it takes place over a decent amount of time so it feels like that would make sense. I don't think it all took place in his mind. The drone and drag and jumping forward in time really felt like how life with depression could feel. If I had to choose a theory that I like, it would be that this was a future elseworlds take rather than something all in Scott's head.
  7. 557-608 New 52 Villains Omnibus I’d already bought the issues that I wanted from this when thy originally released, but this was such a good price I had to snag it. As with all stories that are done by different creative teams, this one has pretty hit or miss. Some stories did a good job of tying into Forever Evil and others not so much. I enjoyed reading it and the fact that it has a cool 3-D dust over pushed it into “really cool” territory.
  8. 549-556 Usagi Yojjmbo 1-3: Really fun little story. I mean who doesn’t love little demon puppets? It’s been years since I’ve read any of his adventures but after reading this, I will be adding it to my pull list. Transformers Galaxies 4 & 5: The wrap up of the Devastator story and the start of a fun Cliffjumper Arc. I’ve really enjoyed the focus on characters who are often background dressing. There is some sympathy to be found for the constructions and some absolute horror about the insect icons in this title. Well worth the read. Ghost Spider 5: I realized that I never grabbed this one and had to go back for it. Jackal is a gross creep. All that needs to be said about this issue. DCeased Unkillables 1 & 2: I liked the original DCeased series and this one is almost better. This captures horror a bit better than Marvel Zombies, who became more of a joke. Excited for the next issue.
  9. 513-548 Thing 1-36. I managed to pick up the complete run for under $50 and I’m glad I did. The first few Byrne issues were featured some amazing wordsmithing, and while Wilson’s pencils aren’t going into my top 10 favorites any time soon, they were serviceable and I don’t really have any real complaints. I loved seeing the thing out on his own, though when Byrne left, the story suffered a bit. It did pick up towards the Wrestling arc, though it felt that some plots were never really wrapped up. All in all, it was a worthwhile read.
  10. 512 GI Joe 109 i grabbed this reader copy for a couple quarters yesterday. I’d heard about this issue but had never read it, so I couldn’t pass up on it when I spied it in then reader bin. What’s so special about this story? A number of iconic joes meet their end, mostly due to a misunderstanding in orders between Cobra Commander and the Twins. A bloodthirsty Saw Viper murders Doc and a few other Joes and then at the end of the issue, Quick Kick and most of the survivors die in a tank explosion. Pretty brutal. Now I need to find this in a nicer condition for my pc.
  11. I mean, probably over half of my books I’ve read so far were bought in 2020z
  12. I’m not a new father, but I was, once upon a time. And seeing depression laid out like that was very real. Scott and Barda’s relationship seemed very relatable (as relatable as two planet hopping war gods can be) in that their arguments seemed real and anger felt legitimate. It’s hard to explain, but rarely do superhero relationships seem that authentic.
  13. 500-511 Over halfway there! And a great series to pass it with: Mister Miracle 1-12 I really enjoyed this run, though I think I need to read it again. I love Barda and Scott’s relationship and seeing Scott as a Badass warrior-god rather than the sort of need that he was in JLI. I thought the book was well worth the hype.
  14. I really like this one too! I think the Green Lantern and Space Ghost was my fav, but also really like Booster Gold. Great read!
  15. 439-499 Sam and Twitch: Udaku Almost half way there! I forgot how much I used to like the old Bendis detective noir stuff. The dialogue is definitely from its time, but I really enjoyed revisiting it. Story was interesting enough to keep my attention and now I want to dig out more of my Bendis era Spawn world stuff.
  16. Just added a new one to the collection. Found it for $50 on Mercari. I love that it had the 3-D cover like the issues did.
  17. Love seeing the Joe stuff. Snagged this little lot yesterday. I think Claymore completes my Special Mission Brazil set. I’ll have to check though. I don’t remember if I have Leatherneck or not.
  18. 305-491 Man of Steel 1-6 Event Leviathan 1-6 Naomi 1-6 Superwoman 1-18 New Superman 1-16, 18-20, 22-24 Supersons 12 Teen Titans 15 Superman Rebirth 1-40, 42-43 Action Comics 957-1021 Superman 1-8, 9-21 Spent some Covid lockdown getting caught up on what Superman’s been doing since Rebirth. I’m not going to review everything, but will hit some of my highlights. My least favorite title was Superwoman. Unfortunately the concept was interesting but the story ended up disjointed and confused. I really enjoyed Naomi and New Superman. I typically liked the Superman stories more than the action comics stuff. I was really interested in the Superman run up until they did another merge. I thought that Superman and Lois being leftovers from the last event was a cool concept. Unfortunately they decided to write it out. The Supersons every time they were together was another highlight. What really drew me back into Supes was Bendis taking over. So far I’m digging it. The one complaint I would make about all of the super titles is figuring out how the timeline works for all of them in a way that makes temporal sense.
  19. This is pretty awesome! What condition is it in? I have had a rough time trying to find a decent copy.
  20. I finally got a pretty decent copy of the 1st appearance of Big Barda. Snagged it off of EBay and was a lot nicer than I was expecting for the price I paid. I grabbed the Spider-Man from a buddy’s shop. I’ve been wanting add some iconic 9.8s from when I was a kid and this was a good price.
  21. 1.) I'd count it as one book. 2.) That is three books if I was counting. That being said, this is for fun. No one is competing so feel free to count them as you like I suppose. If you use the standard 22 pages, I doubt anyone is going to call the fun police on you. Hope this helps. Chris
  22. 276-304 Crossed the 300 mark with some of my subscriptions and the Original Sin series. Far Sector 1-5 I’m really glad I picked up Far Sector. Love the idea of a Green Lantern pretty cut off from the rest of the Corps who has to avoid relying on her ring to solve her problems. I really love the art and style of this series as well. Savage Avengers I think I mentioned it before, but if I didn’t, I thought Savage Avengers sounded ridiculous when I first heard about it. Now I’m hooked. Conan fits fine into the Marvel Universe, especially with Dr. Strange. Looking forward to how the story progresses. Frostbite 1 Honestly I didn’t know anything about this when I snagged it out of the dollar bin. But it was vertigo and I took a gamble. It was pretty interesting and now I need to hunt down the rest of the series. I’m always a sucker for post apoc stories. The Cimmerian 1-2 I was surprised when these were in my box, as last I heard was they weren’t going to happen. If you are a Conan fan, you should look at reading these. Very well done. Ghost Spider 7-8, Legion of Superheroes 4-5, Once and Future 7 Not to much to say about these except that I’m still enjoying them. Once and Future is probably my favorite title right now. Ghost Spider is pretty fun and scratches the superhero itch really well. Of all my monthlies, I’d say legion is probably the weakest. I like Bendis’s writing, but i’ve never been a huge Legion fan. Original Sin 0-8, Annual, Iron Man v Hulk I’d put off on reading this for a while as I was missing a few issues. Well I finally filled in the gaps so sat down and binged it. It was pretty, meh. I mean I didn’t hate it, but wasn’t a fan of some of the character choices, or the “reveals” that seems to constantly occur in Marvel’s “event” books. Oh well. Tokyo Storm Warning 1-2 I like Ellis’s writing and I like Kaiju and Giant Robots. It almost was as if the creators of Pacific Rim had read this series.
  23. Sounds like a slog. I'm sure you can find worse than Prophet though. We are only a quarter way through this year.
  24. Sounds great. I'll have to keep my eyes out for it once life returns to some semblance of normal.
  25. 235-275 Finally has time to dive into this beast and I’m glad I did. My wife and kids gave me my birthday to read and relax so I powered through this. Really fun run amd awesome use of second (and third) tier heroes. My twelve year old is going to read it best and I fully anticipate him cracking up about it if you love fun comics, try to pick this up and give it a read.
