  1. This board is always so pessimistic. This is a beautiful 26. Generally 25 and 26 were well read issues and show it. This particular issue (the ones i've seen) have a tanning problem on the outer border, something very slight on this copy. Solid 8.5 maybe on a good day you get 9.0.
  2. All the years collecting and i learn something new on this site daily. thank you.
  3. 59 i would think belongs. Reminiscent of 46 On another note i sold a 45 in a 9 for alike 200 prior to the pop in price. Literally a few months.
  4. Stories out that the Russo brothers want to make Secret Wars. That would be a nice spot to reintroduce the FF to film. https://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/russo-bros-done-with-superheroes-unless-they-get-to-make-secret-wars_us_5c000a5be4b027f1097b80ef
  5. good color. the creasing isn't too extensive. back is really good and from what i see of the binding the staples look very secure. I have no problem with a 6.0 and due to the age i wouldn't be surprised to see it come back 6.5.
  6. i doubt 5.5 with but i am not sure about the deduction. Decent mid grade book. A little rough on top, plenty of creases on the spine. Right side looks cleanest.Off center as KEYS said. Its a 5-5.5 ignoring the sticker.
  7. Gosh if i didn't know better i'd say you guys took his complaint personally. If nothing else he might learn how small the defects have to be to go down to an 8.
  8. I think a great many images are of really highly graded books. The 9.6 and 9.8. Now i don;'t know when the writer was a little boy and acquired his comics but 8 is a really good grade for books from the 60's. I thin when we get to the 90's is when we find the super high grades. So your 8's may indeed be really good grades. Btw. I had an FF 42 graded that came back as an 8. I still can't detect the problems. Book is glossy with white pages. You can however tell it was read. The 9.6 and 9.8 i have are unread.
  9. ha. Its a comic. suspend disbelief. The Thing looks so much worse. But you're right.
  10. all those early Torch/Thing Strange Tales had great covers. Except maybe the Beatles issue. seeing the Thing with that hair......
  11. this cover caught my imagination when it came out and has held it since. I think generally one of the easier FF's below # 50 to find in nice condition.
  12. tell him get lost and haunt somebody else. Its certainly your right.
  13. dealers at cons have to expect customers to want to examine a book. Especially a book at lower prices simply because a book like that will be at several stands and a buyer will want to buy the issue that presents the most bang for his buck. I can't say i ever bought books like that at a Con. I like to find more difficult books and later on in the week when its easier to get a bargain.
  14. back looks way off center or is that trimmed? i can see this being 3.5-4.
  15. whatever my opinion is worth that 4 looks way better than a 7.
  16. Great books. That 31 especially. For whatever reason they seem to tend to look beat up, more so than other black covers. Lets not forget issue 2 with that yellow background. Another tough cover.
  17. I had a Sgt Fury 2 with chipping that was otherwise beautiful. I got back an 8. It probably cost me 1.2 to 1.4 on the grade. I suspect your Avengers 1 would be a 6 without the chipping so 4.5/5
  18. Black backgrounds are tough, they reveal any little flaw. gorgeous copy.
  19. i have a 61, also Sandman cover that i need to get graded. no chips, creases, bright, white pages. Gem of a copy.
