  1. PGA my Iron Fist here... in addition to obvious chipping issue there's some creasing in top right and bottom right, and also a water stains on both the front (bottom left and bottom right) and the back. Much easier to spot back. Interior pages are actually mostly ok. I know staining tanks the grades I just don't know how bad the damage is gonna be. s
  2. Hi, please grade my TTA #62. In addition to the more obvious issues, there's a small tear on the bottom left in the man's sleeve about an inch in from the spine, and a similar tear on the back cover about 1.5 inches from the edge.
  3. this is what I wrote but then chickened out, but then I see grendelbo above, so... "So I'm very new to this, and am probably going to embarrass myself, so please listen to the consensus of the group, but here's what I'd say - a 3.5 but I have a question on what's going on with the axe in the photo"
  4. I don't think its trimmed, it's just miswrapped - take a look at link below -- my other copy of same book. Basically cover of book #2 is 'shoved over' so I think it's just how it was trimmed when manufactured. Have seen lots like that. Truthfully I wish I had the baby of my two versions.
  5. Please grade my Strange Tales 169 (second copy). Front: Top left and down the side there's some spine ticks On the middle right and in the bottom right there's some creases Back cover: A little bit of soiling / dirt down the right side, significant crease along bottom left. 6. Thanks for responses all! Is it fair to say the foxing / dirt is most responsible for the hit to the grade ? Still learning.
  7. Man I wish I'd found this a week ago, before I bought a comic from Gerry at Toronto comicon. Said it was NM 9.4 (didn't believe that for a second, paid an 8.0 price though) - now I think it's more like 6.5 to a 7.0 on a good day. To be fair he did give me the opportunity to review the book, and I'm still learning and it's a small price to pay for a life lesson. At least my longer visual check at home and the black light test didn't reveal any concerns about restoration or colour touch or trimming so I'm gonna say I dodged a bullet there... at least until CGC tells me otherwise hahah. I let him know later but he doesn't seem to have any interest in keeping me as a customer (even a bad restaurant will comp a dessert) - but as someone said that the business model seems to be keep finding a steady stream of new customers, as there will be little to no repeat business.
  8. First time poster, long time lurker, was a collector as a kid, getting back into it now. Different times, same wonder. Anyway, presenting Strange Tales 169. I'm really having a tough time with this one. Here's what I see: Front cover: Top right - tiny colour breaking crease Spine tiny tick above 'ghost' ear in upper left tiny tick in necklace area of ghost Very tiny tick beside 'superhero' in 'superhero who died' Larger tick near airplane tower - small dent (seems pressable) near A in Romita Small tick in O of Romita Small tick/scratch? in hair of first gunmen Bottom left Small staples tear in bottom left a little bindery tear in bottom left Biggest issue: foxing in blue sky above airplane and around airplane Back cover - there are some ever so slight ticks down the spine, not sure if they will press out or not Bigger issue - foxing especially along bottom and spine side. I honestly don't know if this is 'minor foxing' 'light foxing' 'moderate foxing' or what. Interior pages are OWW, nothing cut out, no foxing to note on insides. Photos below, Super high res here https://photos.app.goo.gl/xBoooxAJAwWMDTK68 thanks, Geoff from Toronto
  9. thanks that's what I was thinking too, didn't make sense to me. (though for a brief moment, I was very proud of my 14 year old self for buying that series... actually I'm proud anyway, it was a great book to read).
  10. Why is V for Vendetta #6 in a CGC 9.6 have a fair market value that's 5x higher than #1? I don't understand this. Apologies if this isn't the right forum to ask this question. https://gocollect.com/comic/v-for-vendetta-1 https://gocollect.com/comic/v-for-vendetta-6
