  1. I've heard folks on the boards in the past talk about the Hulk 181 story not being all that amazing. For example, it's kind of simplistic and feels like it's geared toward younger readers etc.
  2. What about New Mutants 98? Story is kind of so so?
  3. Biggest Key, Weakest Story? In your opinion, which grail book contains the weakest writing, art or story yet goes for just a ridiculous amount of money?
  4. Instead of worrying about cosplay, how about making deodorant mandatory at these shows?
  5. What about The term Iron Age for the 1990s?
  6. I remember a time where we considered the period from 1946 until about 1956 the Atomic Age of Comics with the true Golden Age ending with the conclusion of World War 2. Nowadays, I hardly ever see the term Atomic Age being used. it seems the Golden Age encompasses the entire period from 1933 until the arrival of Showcase #4 in 1956. Would you say this is an accurate assessment? Should the Atomic Age be a more used term? It also seems that the Victorian and Platinum Age seem to only exist in an Overstreet vacuum and you just don't meet collectors really interested in this periods. Anyone here a collector of those ages? Finally, when are we going to give the 1990's a proper age naming? Sorry, but a book from 1991 and a book from 2017 shouldn't both be Moderns! Let's talk.
  7. Offer to pay full retail, pull out a wad of cash and then be like "nah, I changed my mind" and walk out.
  8. From a clutter standpoint, I myself would prefer to a few really nice pieces as opposed to just long boxes of that I can't liquidate in an emergency.
  9. It is mind boggling to me why there isn't a comic book spinner rack as the first thing I see when I walk into Target or Walmart. Keep in mind these place don't sell comics at all. I think you would have so many new readers if new books were just mainstream and easily accessible.
  10. I noticed a funny thing the other day. There are once again comic book themed stores in my shopping mall, a new lcs opened in the neighborhood and it feels like you have to beat other collectors off with a stick at the flea market when a long box full of comics is discovered. With the success of Marvel superhero movies under the watchful eye of Disney among others, would you say the Comic book industry is really back? I am shocked to see many books that were heavily speculated in the 1990's actually coming back and having some sort of value. Deals on eBay even seem far and few between lately. 7-10 years ago, I felt there were some great deals to be had on major keys. Today, not so much. While I feel we haven't approached 1993 levels again, do you feel the resurgence is sustainable long term? Will there be another comic book crash? Are we even experiencing a comic book renaissance? I would love to hear your opinions and thoughts.
  11. First, collect what you love and then take it from there.
  12. Awesome replies, I always feel like a big jerk when I pull up ebay on my smart phone as I'm bargin bin hunting looking for treasure.
  13. Collectorz looks cool. A friend of mine swears by that for his movie collection. Anyone here use Comic Book Relm.com? I like how it tracks values and you can kind of keep track of books you own but wow is that site slow and clunky.
  14. Hi everyone, was wondering what you all do to keep track of books that you need when you are out and about at a flea market, con, store etc. and you are flipping thru a long boxes of comics? Do you keep a checklist, google, go to ebay.com on your phone? For example, I made a punch list of key issues of titles that I collect and keep it on my phone. I can pull it out quickly if needed when I am out. Trying to remember what I have and need can be cumbersome. How do you keep track when you have 1000's of books?
  15. Voldermot is just undermining the whole grading process by doing this. CGC is the one true grading company in my mind. I hope they don't follow suit on this.
  16. If you want to make the most people happy, please just go back and make the new boards look as close to the old boards as possible.
  17. How bad are newton rings hurting resale value? To my understanding, this in no way damages the books but is just really unappealing to the eyes?
  18. Antique Mall pickup today for a couple of dollars. What do you think?
  19. I found a late silver age Archie in vf 8.0 at a flea market for a dollar. What I thought to be a giant "C" written on the comic bag in black sharpie, was actually permanently etched on the cover of the book. I happened to notice this as I was "congratulating" myself on the car ride back home.
  20. I found this baby at a local flea market in a box full of moderns. I paid $10.00 for a bunch of books which included ASM's #238, 173,212,213,214 and 215. Here is a scan of the 238, Not too shabby. ASM 238 Front ASM 238 Back
