  1. Forgive me if this is inappropriate, but was anyone else surprised that Everett cover for AMF V2 #5 didn’t get snatched up off the selling board yesterday? (And no, it wasn’t mine)
  2. Who knew he did original art before comics? Very Thomas Hart Benton style. She doesn't seem very accepting of his explanation, or proposal, or whatever he's trying to do here.
  3. I”m thinking the Bat 1 1.5 with tape all up and down BOTH sides of the front cover still went for $90k
  4. You are right about the color. Usually the orange overpowers it all, but not here
  5. I think he was making a pun about the rivets, which ya gotta love
  6. You were right! The Bat 1 has tape all over the place to the point I wouldn’t want it. Still, it managed to go for 3 x Guide
  7. I did ask. Matt says they can’t. I don’t know the mechanics of this, why sometimes they can and why sometimes they can’t
  8. CGC didnt do anything wrong here. I talked to Matt Nelson and he filled me in. The previous owner tried to bump it up a grade by having it pressed by persons unknown, and then the book was resubmitted as a raw to CGC. Whoever did the pressing got some bends out of it, but somewhere in the process, a second wrap became detached. So whatever improvements got made on the bends, got lost when the second wrap detached. I guess I view this as a cautionary tale: some rolls of the dice turn out better than others. And yes, you are right: in the final analysis, I got the same Cap 3 6.5 for $10k less than otherwise. I'm keeping the book, happy to have it, and still love CGC
  9. Is that real? From what I’ve seen, you are a pre-Robin Tec guy, but Holy !
  10. I’d like to thank my parents, my first grade teacher and my parole officer . . .
  11. No, it was the other way around: it had just the centerfold detached the first grading, but had 2 wraps detached the second grading. I’m talking to CGC about it now.
  12. It does now . . . You say “regraded”, and that sends a shiver down my spine. What was it before? Do you have links to when it previously sold on Clink?
  13. Sounds like you won the book. I’m glad for you. And it sounds like you would have gone all in to get it.good. You deserve it
  14. You got me nervous when you started singling this one out . . . I’m happy it didn’t have a $12k adjustment in the last second like the Blue Bolt 105
  15. Since my Science 2 is slabbed, I have no idea what’s on the pages within. If you happen to know, is there any payoff in terms of story and/or art inside?
  16. Wow. Can’t be any clearer than that. You’ve shown this to Heritage, right?
  17. Oh I see what you were saying. Sorry, I read it too quickly!
  18. I pick my books up at Heritage but they proudly charge me sales tax every time
  19. I love having Heritage down the street from me here in Texas. I will sometimes drop by at their live auctions, and I dropped in on the Verzyl reception they hosted after funeral services. but I hate hate hate paying the local taxes!! I always tell myself I won’t bid more than $1k on anything but I always do
  20. Is MMC 9 too rare to rise? The guide value has stagnated. In 2012, a 6.0 guided for $12.5k. Today, it guides for only $15k. And this is a classic cover with the first superhero fight. There are only 5 books higher than a 6.0, so it’s not like people are waiting for a better copy. The last reported sale for an unrestored copy was in 2012, and it went for Guide value. No multiple. It’s hard for me to believe that it would still go for Guide value today, but who knows . . .
