  1. I think there was just a glitch in the matrix. Heritage failed to recognize a bid, and then I got a Gateway error message. Back up and running now. Some seller is gonna take a little less on his book
  2. i gave it 3 bumps, to no avail. Outbid each time. I may circle back later. Regardless, manhood established
  3. I saw that. Both the 29 and the 35 prices pale by comparison to the 31
  4. It’s going too high, imo. But what a cover, I’ll admit. For sure a worthy grail
  5. As we round third base and head for home, it feels like some books exploded early(Cinderella Love)and some have yet to detonate(Eerie). With 2 days to go, how much gas is left in the tank is anyone’s guess. It seems every major auction is a referendum on both the individual books as well as the market as a whole, and I can’t wait
  6. CGC is grading the state of preservation and leaves the “eye appeal” decisions to us. so although my opinion differs a bit from yours, I totally get what you’re saying. Plus, you just quoted the Dude in your thread title, and that in and of itself makes you an educated man
  7. That splash page looks as good as many covers, to me, at least. But @Point Five is right about the small pool of collectors who would line up for it when your time with it ends. So get this book only if it’s worth it to you. As a collector of single pages, I overcome this dilemma with every acquisition
  8. I hope for the sake of you guys someone replaces us. OTOH, as the thread title says, maybe prices will ease up a bit
  9. In the spirit of D-Day being upon us, I opened up an Air Ace from January 1944, and I was shocked to see how easy it was to escape a German concentration camp. My favorite part of the escape is where the POWs leave their German captor alone and intact based on the guard’s assurances he won’t alert the authorities. anyone else got a stupid page?
  10. I still remember seeing this advertised as “coming soon”, and waiting an eternity
  11. Your first post made me laugh and the second had the opposite effect. I’m confused which emoji to push. Sorry about your loss
  12. $25k. But the lower right cover corner made this a bad bet from the start
  13. Love to hear the backstory: why comics are important to the collector, the unselfish hope that the next caretaker will feel the same, and the life re-affirming reason behind letting them go
  14. You’ve had high quality responses but still have questions. This is an art, not a science. You want black and white in a world filled with grey
  15. 6 months ago Blissard Comics (the dentists son) on eBay advertised a sup 1 centerfold for $25k. After a month the price dropped to $20k, then it disappeared. You may want to reach out to him for more info. Good luck
