  1. The back cover is too soiled for a 7.0 - 7.5 IMO. I think it could fetch a 6.5 at best.
  2. This is the correct interpretation of what I'm talking about. Thanks for the clarification.
  3. Yes, that is what I'm asking. However, if one were to send in a coverless copy of Hefty #1 it wouldn't grade at anywhere close to an 8.5. I was talking about two comics that are just a .5 grade apart.
  4. Suppose there's a comic that has a census of 3 graded copies at an 8.0. Given the fact that an 8.0 of this comic is so rare to find, would the 8.0 be considered more valuable than the same issue graded an 8.5 with 200 total graded copies?
  5. I would love to give you my opinion. However, I need some pics of the back cover. Got any?
  6. I'm needing some suggestions. Should I or should I not crack open a CBCS or PGX slab before sending the comic in for re-grading by CGC? Would love to hear your thoughts.
  7. Hmmmm ... looks like an 8.0 - 8.5 IMO, depends on the grader.
  8. I guess I just mean that I'd hate to give anyone on here an idea that CGC won't normally honor. What do you mean by it not being a "professional response" by CGC?
  9. Well, IDK what to say. What I described is exactly what I was told by CGC customer service and did. Please, though, can you educate me as to the correct way I should go about this issue, if it presents itself in the future? I'd appreciate your knowledge.
  10. Getting back a book from CGC that you think you know is graded lower than you think it should be can sometimes be confusing. Once, I bought an ASM 194 off of eBay. It had a grade of 6.0 with Off-White to White pages. When it arrived, it looked amazingly clean and crisp and better than the grade it was given. Over about a week, I kept coming back again and again to inspect the comic. I was so pleased that I had gotten such a nice looking 6.0. But, then one day I was like: "Wait a minute, let me buy the grader notes for this certification number". I read the notes, and everything the notes said about the reason the comic was graded a 6.0, I could find no evidence of on the comic at hand. I called CGC and they told me to resubmit the book for grading. I did have to pay to have the book regraded, but it was well worth it! I was told to write on the packing slip: "Please regrade. This comic looks like it may be a higher grade." I sent it off, and it came back with a corrected grade of 8.0 with White pages. I was thrilled. And the money I spent to have the book regraded was not enough to match the new increased value of the now much higher graded comic. I also got a new slab to boot. So, with all that said, if you think you should take the gamble, and resubmit, the monetary benefit, not to mention your overall satisfaction that the book is now graded to the standards you think it should've been in the first place, could certainly well outweigh any risk. Good luck!
  11. I began collecting, mostly Spider-Man issues, when I was just 6, in 1976. I fell in love with collecting comics! I couldn't wait to get my small allowance, so I could run to the corner newsstand and buy the next issue of ASM. When people would bend down to ask me what I wanted to be when I grew up, I'd always say: "I want to be a comic book collector." In 2018, I sold my childhood collection of raw books, and decided to begin collecting CGC books. In the past two years, I've amassed a collection of about 200 graded comics. I love the hobby, but took it back up, in part, because I saw it as an investment opportunity. Like others, I figured the books would markedly increase in value over the next 10 - 20 years. I decided that then I could pass them on to my 3 boys when they grow up. Some, on the boards, are of the opinion that comics are going to tank in value with the new generations succeeding mine. This is a disturbing notion to me, for obvious reasons. These opinions express that the new generations are not into print media, like physical books, comics, and newspapers. I'm curious what others' opinions are on this topic. Do you think comics, both raw and CGC graded, will continue to become more and more valuable with the passing of time? Or are you one who is of the opinion that, with the reliance of new generations on online publications, comics will eventually begin to depreciate?
  12. Recently, I've bought a lot of CGC slabbed comics that have a loose inner well. Meaning, when I rotate the slab slowly to the left or the right, the plastic inner well holding the comic slides a bit up or down. What's up with this? Right now, I have about 6 or 7 slabbed comics in my collection that have this. Can this damage the comic inside? The comic itself does not move, but the inner well containing the comic does. I'd appreciate if anyone could help me understand. THANKS!
  13. I'd say this book could get a 6.5. My only concern would be the staining on the back cover. It seems CGC is being really strict on staining, these days. The front of the book looks pretty good, though. I'd just hate to see you get a lower grade because of the back cover, when the front cover is so obviously a .5 higher grade, or maybe more. The book could always benefit from a press. However, you have to decide whether a press that could potentially garner a 7.5 is worth your extra effort, based on value. Personally, I held out for a 9.2 of this issue which I bought already slabbed off of eBay for about $75.00 in 2019. I happen to love Frank Millers work, as well. I owned a raw copy of this book when I was a kid. it is a great issue, with a great story, and excellent art. PPSSM 27 is Frank Millers first work on Daredevil, too.
  14. I get where you're coming from, Math Teacher. However, I've seen 3.0 graded comics that actually looked much better than this one. It seems that this one has water damage all the way through the book. This is a 2.0 IMO. 2.5 tops.
