Looks like the rules have changed and you can now open a non paying bidder dispute after just 2 days. If you don't receive payment, you can open an unpaid item case in the Resolution Center as soon as 2 full days (48 hours) after the listing ends. For example, if the listing ends on October 5 at 11:15 am, you can open a case on October 7 at 11:15 am. That is crazy. I guess I am stuck in 1999. With those parachute pants you are wearing I'd dial that back another decade. Chess King parachute pants, an Alexander Julian sweater and a Member's Only jacket. Keepin' 1985 alive. The only thing I regret about my pre-nup was agreeing to trash the Members only jacket.

People get comics slabbed for all sorts of reasons such as restoration check(esp on older books), protection, uniformity, a third part opinion of grade, helping with valuation and much more. It also provides a safer way to buy/sell in this age of the internet, and as you pointed out it has it's drawbacks. I can't speak for everyone, there are probably a ton more reasons, try asking HERE.

The $40 was a decent offer, again he should have pursued it through the ebay system in a timely manner. Asking for complete replacement at this time seems like a bit much.

Never, ever ship overseas for one. Like you said, no tracking, that's a major problem. He could be staring at the book right now and you would have no way of knowing. That sucks man. Why did the buyer wait so long? Shipping overseas is fine. Yea as long as there is tracking, I will never ship anything anywhere without tracking ever again. Been screwed to many times. Jus sayin Canada Post just doesn't provide tracking for certain places. now I'm only asking here because the person who bought the book is sending me messages on the boards asking. I don't ship to a lot of places because its too expensive so I can't imagine sending the book to Germany without him convincing me or sending me some messages about it where I would have said tracking through canada post isn't happening - but the only reason I have posted this here and am asking for advice is because I don't want to be put on the PL for something as stupid as this. I offered him a $40 refund. That sounds like a more than reasonable offer, 8 months later is way too long to be asking for any refund as there is a process on ebay to use if items have not arrived in a timely fashion.

KEEP TRACK OF STU'S LATEST SHILLS! WATCH IN WONDER AS MEMES LOOK LIKE MATTRESSES, TAGS STILL ATTACHED!"! That guy.
