  1. BTW, I'm willing to bet boardies can not even account for 100 copies.
  2. Then you are questioning my integrity as well, which is entirely within your rights to do. However, I won't even entertain the possibility without proof. 200 is more than you think it is for such a specialized item. The 1000 counts are worse, it seems at times that there may be thousands out there floating around, but I'm telling you now, the numbers don't add up to 1000, nor even close.
  3. My understanding was that the book had a print of 100 so it wouldn't be hard for it to dry up Agreed. That's why I snatched one up for probably more than I needed to spend. One the other hand, supposedly the Larry's Variant has only 200. I'd think those would be snatched up by now too, but there are several out there not selling. I know he has a voucher around here now, but it still wreaks. Wondering what the 100 copy run would go for now...... might put mine up in a bit. Pray tell, what "wreaks"? I just sold two 9.8s this week to boardies!
  4. That'd be up to the seller who put him on the list. My problem with this, really, is the big opportunity I see for abuse. I think group policing works great when there's a lot of transparency. The thing is, message boards like this tend to be somewhat insular & protective of their own. People are going to believe a person they know over someone they don't; they're going to believe someone with a high post count over a low post count. That's natural and not necessarily bad -- but if you don't have at least a little transparency then it invites abuse too. Look what we've got here: A sale that the only evidence of is from 1 person. The other party added to the board's "not safe to do business with" list. The only person who can remove him from that list? The person who put him there. That's a fine system if we're all completely honest -- but eventually we're gonna get bit in the by someone who's had a run of bad luck or just isn't quite as honest as we thought they were. Anyway, I've certainly had my say on this so I'll stop. The rest of the board is okay with this so there it is. I just thought I'd explain my position. Part of the transparency issue is addressed by encouraging both parties to express their perspectives before an automatic rush to judgment. Then, we proceed to pre-determined judgment plus tar & feathering.
  5. It's dealing with the Graemlin Union that gets expensive here. Graemlin load-ins, overtime, etc.
  6. Look at the bigger picture, if you want to sell books and make a profit, then be prepared for the costs of doing business. 3% Paypal fees, 10-15% ebay fees, and 10% consignment fees are reasonable in trying to run a small business.
  7. The guideline must be designed to protect buyers from unscrupulous sellers who change their board name, move across country and still refer to themselves as their previous board name, post fake wedding announcements, and the worst of all, are a Phillies fan.
  8. Chicago, August, 2009. For Stuff of Legend 9.8 SS books. That was on the "convention floor" in Chicago...not on this forum. and.......PROVE IT!! I was logged in at the time so I had one foot in the forum. I don't want to know where you foot or your log have been. Damn, you have a short or selective memory. They were in your lap. Hence the name of the dance.

  11. Reported myself and they got moved! Wonder if that goes on my permanent record?
  12. Announcements posing as sales threads. Max time allowed before listings start? 30 minutes? Discuss. This has nothing to do with sales problems and should not be discussed in this thread. Are people really that unhappy and want to complain just to complain? If it's against the rules it belongs in a different thread not this one Point taken, but I couldn't quote his question in the proper thread, he didn't ask it there.

  14. 3 cheers for GACollectibles!!!
  15. I don't have one(of Chew, anyway), and it was just a general question about the registry, not specific to Chew.
  16. To properly answer a question with a question.....Do you have one and are you selling it to me? My answer is "No, I do not have one that I am selling to you". Is it because you do not have one? Too many factors to consider for a yes or no answer. For example if I had one I still might not be selling it to you as we have not yet agreed upon a purchase price.

  18. Larry's Comics was selling the book directly, right? The comic states "3rd print" on the inside cover - how is this the publisher's fault? I'm not saying Larry's Comics tried to pull anything, but your response back to me came across like you were offended. That was not the intent. But I think you took it that way. Anyway, all is clear now. I didn't say it was the publisher's fault, but that it would have been nice for THEM to mention it as part of the process. Offended? Um, no. Not til your PM.
  19. Andrew said he will post here later but gave the go ahead for a quote. Confirming 200 count print run, I think it's been mentioned before that was even printed inside cover. In regards to the 3rd print variant cover as it's now been labeled, that detail would be nice to be told about by the publisher up front instead of expecting a #1 variant. I would imagine the publishers, maybe not being registry buffs, probably don't pay much/any attention to that. I think where the confusion could have been avoided is if Larry's Comics would have noted these books on its site as the Chew 1, 3rd print variant cover. That still makes it special and collectible, but also crystal clear. Just saying. I've believe I said it before, he didn't know they were, nor did I as we went through some the day they came out for me to bring to Chicago to be slabbed onsite. Just saying. How would I know you said this before? I just started collecting the book. So coming back with that answer is a little off. But hey, that's your call responding like that. Next time, look the books over as it clearly states "3rd printing." Responding like what? I'm just saying? I had already indicated in my post before that I thought it would be helpful if the publisher providing the book made it clear to the purchaser who may not be sensitive to what printing it is.
