  1. For the record, I PMed him about the post, and after reading it he did edit the original post, however beyond the one post in his thread pointing out the mis-location the other comments had already started.
  2. Some 1940s Amazing Stories pulps in the Marketplace!! Link
  3. More importantly, why do you guys keep doing business with these nobodies? And then act surprised when the deal goes bad? That's a pretty callous statement, there are plenty of "nobodies"/new members who throw up the and complete the transactions. This guy appeared to have two transactions gone awry within a short period of time, before anyone could be alerted there may be a problem.
  4. Do you PM often when these issues come up? Part of solution might be to streamline the process. Right now we are allowed to "police ourselves" and have been provided with a polite stock post from Arch to address any guideline issue. Some people notice an item and are hesitant to say anything for a variety of reasons(seller backlash, being labeled "forum nazi", etc.). Try this: If someone notices an issue and doesn't want to publically/privately(PM) deal with it, send me a PM with the info and I will forward a polite PM to the seller addressing the issue. I get contacted as it is since some people know I will PM a seller about a guideline issue, and the majority I have contacted edited their threads in a timely fashion. Therein lies one of the other issues. A "timely fashion" might mean immediately for some people, others are patient enough to wait for a response from the seller. I suggest that the PM recipient be given a chance to edit the thread after reading the PM. I know some people get frustrated when the mods are notified about an offending post and nothing immediate happens, and the reality is that it is not a priority for the mods. They do seem to be fair in allowing sellers to modify their posts in a reasonable amount of time or deleting the entire thread if it is not addressed or if there are repeat complaints about the same seller. 1) Funnel guideline issues through specific people to be addressed 2) Notify mods if issue is not resolved. This may mean notifying mods immediately if seller has repeat tendencies. Though we all would like 1st time infractions to be eliminated by people reading the guidelines before posting, I don't know how that can be modified to take place.
  5. We had a non-CGC slabbed book on here last week that was removed when seller read a polite PM that was sent to him, so it does work in some cases.
  6. Hmmm. So the bottom line is still, did the other sale take place before you posted. If so and the thread it wasn't updated, it certainly qualifies for poor form. Hopefully the seller will be honest and sell the book to the first true .
  7. Good point GA! I've posted via PM and I've also received them via PM, and I agree these are just as valid as one posted in a thread--time stamp is the name of the game in that instance. Some sellers outright specify thread as trump thus eliminating any confusion, some accept the timestamp on a PM as a sale. It then depends on the honesty of the seller to post that as quickly as possible(not everyone is around their computer all the time) to maintain the integrity of the process.
  8. I'm not sticking up for the seller, but if he gets back to his computer and finds a PM that has arrived before your thread and it is not specified in his thread what takes precedence, then he could certainly honor the first .
  9. Unfortunately it wasn't clear enough as the above appears to read that trumps offers but not whether it needs to be a thread posted to trump everything, as some sellers specify. If the PM was an accepted offer then it definitely should have been marked as sold when offer was accepted to remove the book from the market.
  10. Love those Superman cartoons, when my daughter was younger she watched them over & over.
  11. Might be a better idea to take the lead and send the info to the buyers in case they don't read this thread. (thumbs u
  12. This past summer I shipped out dozens of posters via USPS using poster tubes and First Class Mail(US cost approx $2.30-2.60, foreign was reasonable esp Canada) and the tubes held up fine, the posters cushioned by a small piece of bubble wrap at end end to prevent bouncing around. I did have to buy two size poster tubes to accommodate the larger ones as well as the standard size, and I would recommend checking out shipping supply prices elsewhere before paying $2.5-$3 each for them at Staples/Office Depot(more for the larger ones).
  13. Sorry to three-post, but if anyone is interested the info can be reached via this link: Comic Book Strip Project
  14. Oh carp, that is a great reference site! I just emailed him to see if there are plans to host it elsewhere or if it available in database form.
  15. Though I'm not sure how long it would take to mobilize General Bittybug's Battalion if they are using snails!
  16. Apparently at 6:41am my fingers found it easier to type "Ed".
  17. The issues to date have been selling PGX books(not allowed), selling PGX books but not showing the label(not allowed), and recently posted books shown in PGX holder (one seller indicated book was unslabbed but no new pic was posted, other indicated book would sell as-is(slabbed) or raw(cracked) based on buyer's preference). If CGC truly feels that any of the above scenarios are unacceptable, then maybe stipulating "raw or CGC only" requires photo of item in it's current state to clarify any potential questions. Flip side is to drop the "raw or CGC only" guideline, depending on how strongly CGC feels about PGX books listed here. (We know how Steve feels. ) On the other hand Sal's post brings up a good question? What constitutes "raw"? I have never tried to crack a slab just enough to remove a label and leave a book in for protection, but is that unreasonable?
  18. I had to backtrack to the PB conversation, yesterday's mail brought one of my favorite Ed Bergey covers:
  19. Mickey should try using the front seat. Front seat is for the customer who puts 25 cents in the slot, Mickey is just there for the licensing check.
