  1. Nice...I've never seen that one... Thanks. I admired it for quite a while on Bedrock's site before finally pulling the trigger. Nice book, especially considering it's not a file copy where most of the high grade copies come from,!
  2. Missing 1361 Last but not least Goofy Scoutmaster which is very , very tough in high grade. I feel very fortunate to have owned it.
  3. Missing 1356...another comic I had hoped would grade out much better.
  4. Missing 1353...nothing spectacular AND I was hoping for a much better grade.
  5. Missing 1352 Finding this specific issue is pretty tough to start with. Anything over fine is almost impossible. For those unaware, this was the first month that Dell comics dropped back to 12 cents after an unsuccessful price move to 15 cents a while back. Sales for Dell comics in general imploded upon the price increase and never really recovered as Super Heroes were becoming the stars of the day AND still priced at 12 cents.
  6. Missing 1338 Not very scarce. Just another tough high grade book. I do have a pretty nice and better copy of this. If anybody is interested I'd sell this copy for about $60.
  7. Missing 1334. You are lucky top see one pop up every 2-3 months, IF you are paying attention. This is another unfamiliar cover to many people .Woggen art.
  8. Missing 1325 You can find beater copies of this on EBay all day long. There are a couple other copies in 9.6 as well. I actually have a couple. If anybodu is interested I'd sell it for about $165
  9. missing 1321 This rarely ever shows up on EBay or any other site. Most people will have never seen this, I am guessing.
  10. 1316 Not super scarce but this is probably the best and only highest copy.
  11. Missing 1315. Not especially tough in general but impossibly scarce in high grade. This is the only graded copy, I think.
  12. After four LONG months I finally got back some of my first missing Four Colors that I have personally submitted. Here is the first missing # 1314. Not especially tough but always scarce in anything over Fine.
  13. I posted an ebay thread for a killer run of Sgt. Fury for anybody interested this week. Probably 90% of the run and most early issues. http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=9020538#Post9020538
  14. Assuming I paid Jerry via PayPal, which I have almost always used to pay for anything, I could probably dig up the transaction, among my many thousands (unfortunately). The back of the Mylar had this label which I have zoomed up. Does anybody recognize this as either Jerry's writing or store? "O'Leary's Books"?
  15. Just out of curiosity. I paid Jerry $600 for the set. Any idea what they are actually worth? I just thought they were pretty cool but had no idea what they were worth. He seemed to have a ball park figure, given their scarcity.
  16. While not quite copies of number 1, in my pursuit of #1 I had been talking to Jerry Weist. He sold me a set of 3 proofs in near perfect condition for MPFW 2,3 and 4, which were never published. He told me they were very rare and aside from his comments I have no idea. Anyway, for the record, here they are:
  17. My apologies. Work has kep[t me too busy to check this stuff out more often. The thing about the missing Four Colors is that they tend to be missing a number in the indicia at all what so ever. If you looked at the indicia of t had Space Man issue, it would probably say Spaceman # 2 or something like that. Almost all the "missing issues" are shown only as the 8 series number that has specific meaning top date title and price. An interesting example, however is Beany and Cecil. While it is almost without a doubt a missing issue, it has no such numbers in the title in the indicia. When there is no other number and the actual name of the title is in the indicia, it is usually assumed to be #1. When the 89 digit number is used in the indicia, it is almost certain, however , to be missing. So in summary: Indicia has title and no number: Presumed to be #1 Indicia has title and lists any issue number: Not missing for sure. Indicia has 9 digit code where issue number belongs and is dated 1962: Probably missing There is some debate as to whether some in the first category, such as Beany and Cecil, might actually be missing.
  18. A lot of nice books posted here lately. Great job Jim! I must say that this particular book is very nearly impossible to find in high grade. It's hard to find at all. I had a G/VG copy for quite some time before I finally found a really nice copy! I actually bought the G/VG copy from Mile High comics Jason Street store at one of those weekly auctions he holds. I think It was out of his personal collection but was junk.
