  1. Incidentally, I have completed the missing potion of the FC series. However my copy of 1324 : Pixie , Dixie and Mr. Jinx is not very good. If anybody has a nice copy and is willing to sell or trade, let me know. Also I think Ben Casey #1 could be a missing candidate and my copy is also not great. If you want to sell or trade, let me know.
  2. FC 1305. Almost all the Mr Magoo books, for some reason, are difficult to find in high grade. The first was in the 500's where they were notoriously poor quality. This one also seems to be made of relatively poor paper. At 6.5 it's second in the census only to a 7.0. Is there a VF/NM or better?
  3. FC 1123 Tombstone Territory. Here is a case where I just lost patience. There are six copies graded higher and not a single one has gone up for auction in over 11 years. This shows how many hard core collectors are just sitting in the shadows holding on to this stuff.
  4. FC 609. Littlest Outlaw. This book was a movie classic and I'm sure it will never have anything special noted about it. It is however tough as nails to find in high grade. I've had this in a short box for years thinking a better graded copy would come up for grabs. I finally got it graded and while there is an 8.5 and a 9.2 it has been over 7 years since a copy has gone up for sale.
  5. I have looked years for a good copy of this book. I bought a great copy years ago and had it graded only to discover it was restored. Five years later I finally found this with David T Alexander. FC 880, file copy
  6. FC 772. I think this is tied for highest graded. File Copy.
  7. All tough books and here is another. FC 576 Wells Fargo #1.
  8. ANother tough book in high grade. FC 611 Duck Album sans Carl Barks.
  9. Speaking of tough, FC 563 Rhubarb the Millionaire Cat. Highest graded copy, believe it or not!
  10. Jungle War Stories in particular is tough. This is now the only graded copy. King of Diamonds can be found in VG/F-F, but this is the best copy I have found. I thought it might grade more like VF. Note that for Jungle War Stories CGC labels it #1, which it is, but it is NOT listed as number one in the Indica. Like the other "missing books" it is classified by the XX-XXX-XXX only.
  11. Incidentally, I should clarify scarcity. Most of the Four Color Run can be had pretty easily with the simple amount of time required to collect 1300+ comics. The problem is they are generally available in grades like G or VG. Many are available in higher grade for the right price. When I talk scarce I'm talking books that are hard to find in VG/F or F. Some are unknown in VF. I got a few books back from CGC this week and finally scanned them in. Here are "Missing Four Colors" 1346 and 1347.
  12. Degree of difficulty-Four Colors While there are tough books to find in the Four Color Series at virtually every point in the collection, it was my experience that the 500's were the very toughest. This includes books like Lil Bad Wolf (#1) Rhubarb the Millionaire Cat and Mr Magoo. The paper quality is ridiculously poor. After years of searching my best graded copy of any of these is in the range of Fine.
  13. Order may be debatable, but this is where I have come to on the missing issues: Missing Four Colors: I have previously discussed the missing Four Colors. Here now is a list of comics that might well be the “missing Four Color issues”. These were derived by looking at date marks on the cover and determining if they were part of another numbered series of comics that might have existed. For example if Bonanza #5 was trtuly #5 it would say so in the indica. Most of the missing Four Colors simply used a cryptic code of letters that few people understood. But what could be done was to match up dates and the issues that were not part of another series match up nearly perfectly with the missing issues: 1217: Ken and Barbie #1 01-053-207 1228: Bonanza 01-070-207 1292: Cain’s Hundred #1 01-094-207 1314: Donald Duck Album 01-204-207 1315: Follow the Sun 01-280-207 1316: King Leanardo 01-390-207 1317: Laramie: 01-418-207 1318: Leave it to Beaver 01-428-207 1319: Lolly and Pepper 01-459-207 1320: Man From Wells fargo 01-495-207 1321: Marge’s Lulu and Tubby in Japan 01-476-207 1322: The Prince and the Pauper 01-654-207 1323: National Velvet 01-556-207 1324: Pixie Dixie and Mr. Jinx 01-631-207 1325: The Real McCoy’s 01-689-207 1326: The Twilight Zone 01-860-207 1327: The Untouchables 01-879-207 1329 This is unusual. Ben casey seems to fit the spot (#1 ) 12-063-207 However Gyro Gearloose also seems to fit the spot. In fact I have a Gyro Gearloose in a CGC case titled Four Color #1329, despite the fact that 1329 is listed nowhere on the title or indica. 1331: Blue Phantom #1 01-066-208 1334: Dazey’s Diary 01-174-208 1338: Fury 01-292-208 1339 Rawhide 01-684-208 1340: Beany and Cecil 01-057-209 1342: Brenda Lee’s Life Story 01-078-209 1343: Bullwinkle 01-090-209 1344: Drift Marlo #1 01-090-209 1345: Famous Indian Tribes #1 12-264-209 1346; Jungle War Stories #1 01-384-209 1347: King Of Diamonds 01-391-209 1351: The Magic Sword 12-496-209 1352: Ponytail #1 12-641-209 1353: 77 Sunset Strip 01-742-209 1353 possibility #2 The Twist 01-864-209 One book that seems to be lost and would also fit in this slot (1353), is The Twist 01-864-209 1355: Bonanza 01-070-210 1356: The Three Stooges Meet Hercules 01-828-208 1357: Mickey Mouse Album 12-518-210 1358: National Velvet 12-556-210 1359: The Twilight Zone 12-860-210 1360: The Untouchables 12-879-210 1361 (questionable?) Walt Disney’s Goofy: Scoutmaster
  14. If you look at my Four Color Registry I list all of them. Maybe I'll repost here.
  15. What ever happened to Sqegg? He was quite active for awhile and then seemed to vanish.
  16. A friend of mine gave me a few boxes of comics to sell a while ago. I am down to the last of the inventory. Most of this stuff is not high dollar stuff but lots are 20-50 books and the guide is certainly in the hundreds of dollars per lot. They are starting at 99 cents and end today. My primary goal is just to get the items out of my house where they have say for a while. A few more items will be listed later today that will end next Sunday. Take a look: https://www.ebay.com/sch/4gemworks/m.html?item=254432395148&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2562
  17. Just happened to finally get around to scanning a few books and these were among them. All three of these are tougher to find in high grade than hen's teeth. National Velvet is the presumed Missing Four Color # 1358. I've been looking high and low for this and prior to this copy had been able to find no better than about a VF. The Vigilantes is the Mile High Copy and 478 is another of the near impossible to find high grade Charlie McCarthy books.
  18. Great job! Quite an accomplishment. It takes tenacity, to say the least. A few of the issues are simply impossible to find at all. You can wait weeks or months. Danger man is a good example. Once I finished the prime set I started on the missing Four Colors and still have an issue or two that I am trying to lock up.
  19. Missing Four Color 1353...One of the toughest of the missing to find in higher-grade. This is my best copy out of many attempts.
  20. Monte makes this collection look easy. If you know the inventory out there and know what is really great, you realize what a jaw dropping set this is. I'm still working to get half the collection Monte has.
  21. I'm going to auction this off pretty soon. If anybody wants to buy or maybe trade something, let me know, fast.
  22. I just picked this up a week ago0. It would likely be Missing Four C9olor # 1355
  23. It's not Four Color or Dell, but I was scanning all my EC and Gaines File copy related books and came across this. Nice wrap around cover and the first comic book..
