What are the non-MCU films you rewatch most? ;-)
comicginger1789 replied to Bosco685's topic in The Movie Forum
My micro reviews on some 300 (boring to me) Batman Begins (slow as all heck) The Dark Knight (single handedly convinced me to get into Batman) The Dark Knight Rises (gets a lot of hate but I still enjoy it. Not as great as the second of course but entertained me a lot more than the first did) Deadpool (hilarious and well done) Deadpool 2 (meh...was neither great nor bad) Hellboy (was fun, have never watched sequel because I don't want to ruin a decent film) Kick-Azz (enjoyed) Rocketeer (fun little movie) Spider-Man (first time seeing Spidey on big screen so this holds a special place in my heart, even if the Green Goblin's costume stinks) Spider-Man 2 (might be one of my most favourite superhero movies of all time...great casting, great story, great action) Spider-Man 3 (should have just been about Sandman and set up Venom for the next film...a mix of good moments, terrible moments, good castings and terrible castings) V For Vendetta (love it) Watchmen (love it) X-Men (good fun) X-2 (more good fun) The rest from this run (brutal) X-Men: First Class (was okay but I think I am in the minority of just not loving teams, outside of the FF. Once they were ruined I had no desire to tune back in) X-Men: Days of Future Past (terrible abomination of a good story) I know the topic is which ones do you rewatch the most and I'll be honest, I am a one and done movie guy. I pay very good attention when watching a film and often find no desire to revisit it. In fact, I find watching stuff I have seen boring and a waste of my time. To that end, I have seen Dark Knight a couple times, ditto for the Spideys and Watchmen and V for Vendetta. That aside I have no urge to watch moments I have already experienced. To much new stuff to do in life. -

CGC expert Grader in Las Vegas
comicginger1789 replied to mrmlcoleman's topic in Newbie Comic Collecting Questions
I finished in the top portion of a friendly grading competition on here....does that make me an expert? -
Nice, mine also has the insert that I forgot about/knew about but 15 years ago when I bought it, my knowledge on inserts was zippo and it was purchased purely as part of my ASM run.

He was craving bacon, saw his piggy bank and just kinda ate it. Savings gone.

Door in your way? I'll eat it Fence blocking us off? I'll eat that mess too Need me to dig a tunnel? I'll eat dirt all day
-
Most common: Ability to jest while fighting Least common: Ability to eat anything (in that you rarely see our heroes eat and the fact that only one ever to my knowledge had the power to eat his way through literally anything)

Definitely! I am going through my collection, rebagging and boarding and reading stuff that I have never had the time to read. Some of the surprises that I did not know I had include several books with Mark Jewellers inserts (I love hidden surprises!) in my ASM run that I had not checked out in years.
-
Thanks all! I feel pretty good having looked at a bunch of others online too. It came when I purchased a bulk of the Miller run a few years back online. But when I bagged and boarded the run, I forgot to notate on my backing board which one was signed. I spent an evening going through them all and could not find it. I was initially like ", I musta sold it by accident" because I had upgraded a couple issues and I thought great, I sold the one with the signature. Then, I went back through and realized this issue was missing and got tucked in a different spot in the box. So thankfully, it still is here and is now labelled and likely won't ever be sold

When a guy gets desperate he hunts hard. Tracked down a couple decent 30 cent variants that made there way to Canada and are now gonna make their way into my collection!

Captain America 100
comicginger1789 replied to Lutherbushido82's topic in Hey buddy, can you spare a grade?
4.5 seems right, I think there may be a tad too much damage to edges to get 5.0 but it would not be out of reason. -
New teen Titans 2
comicginger1789 replied to Lutherbushido82's topic in Hey buddy, can you spare a grade?
6.5-7.0 They hit modern books hard and those couple corner creases will hit this one hard. -
PGM Strange Tales 110
comicginger1789 replied to UncleAnwar's topic in Hey buddy, can you spare a grade?
I have seen 2.0 with uglier chunks/pieces cut and missing. So I will venture more 2.0-2.5 -
PGM Supernatural Thrillers #5
comicginger1789 replied to Bart Allen's topic in Hey buddy, can you spare a grade?
Definitely 9.0 or better potential. Light edge wear it appears along bottom edge and some light fraying at spine corners. I think it transcends the VF range personally. -
PGM Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #3
comicginger1789 replied to Ahmadisme's topic in Hey buddy, can you spare a grade?
I see spine ticks that cannot be fixed. It's such a busy cover with the colours. I think 7.5ish as is but I do think a press could def get to 8.0 possibly 8.5 but not sure if it can get more than that just because some of the ticks are colour breaking. -
Fantastic four 52
comicginger1789 replied to Lutherbushido82's topic in Hey buddy, can you spare a grade?
I think 4.0 is not out of the question but would be tops. Lots of edge wear, some of the small tears and creases on the leading edge keep it from getting any higher. -
Yeah I am also 8.5, outside shot at a 9.0. Back cover blemishes along spine and some ticks. Sharp looking copy though!

PGM Fantastic Four #6

I'll look at and try to grade an old book any day of the week! -
If you want to message me pictures of it all you can and I’ll take a gander:) most of this magazines aren’t worth much tho
-
Yeah thats how I have felt. Early on, great work. Seemed to have been done with patience and care. A lot since though seems rushed.

Something in his line work has changed over time that just hasn't grown or appealed to me. It's nice...maybe it's when colour is added to his work nowadays that makes me hate it. I can imagine that in colour and it would look terrible. Perhaps Neal needs to do some B&W work on a title...that I would be into.
-
I would have said "no, your old signature is worth more...you know, back when you did work that was actually well drawn". I am open to having my mind changed by a piece of Neal Adams work that he has done since the 80s that is any bit decent.

I have a basement that can get pretty humid in the summer and also have a Frigidaire. I have had it for a couple years now. I change the filter regularly and do not run in winter months (since I live in a cold climate) so maybe that has prolonged the life but I like it overall.

PGM The Avengers 8
comicginger1789 replied to ShabbyShaman's topic in Hey buddy, can you spare a grade?
The back kills it, otherwise I feel it could be an easy 3.5. However, those two larger pieces missing puts it in 2.0 for me. Would be lower but I think the front presents well enough.
