Post Your National Diamond Sales Inserts!
comicginger1789 replied to comicginger1789's topic in Bronze Age Comic Books
Question for you. I am curious when the last time you updated this list would have been. And I am also interested if you embarked on a heavy ebay search for the issues you have listed as not proven to exist (114 and 115 excepting and likely 102 being a square bound). I am interested in diving deep into finding some and figured maybe I could start with trying to find some that weren't yet found. -
mark jeweler variants Mark Jeweler variants in DC Comics
comicginger1789 replied to Cpt Kirk's topic in Bronze Age Comic Books
Okay, because I am compiling my own data from prior threads and the dark web about the National Diamond Sales insert and mycomicshop lists a bunch but I am only going to list if I can confirm it exists. One more question. There seems to be a lot of confusion about how these books with National Diamond and MJ inserts were distributed. Were all issues with MJ inserts sold overseas? If so, how did so many come back? There are accounts of people who had original owner collections and had bought their books on or near military bases and the books had the inserts in them. I am just trying to nail down some more facts if possible, whether these all went over seas but in fairly large quantities and came back, whether it was a combination of being sold on bases and overseas. I appreciate any knowledge you have:) -
Atari inserts in Batman newstands?
comicginger1789 replied to Chadwick's topic in Bronze Age Comic Books
Are these inserts fairly common then? In the midst of going back through my collection and I also have Batman 340 and 357 containing the Atari insert. They weren’t in every copy of these issues were they? (My 340 is newsstand and my 357 is not). -

Is mycomicshop accurate in that if they have a book listed as having the insert but none in stock, it means that they have actually come across it? Just wondering for the sake of the hunt on a couple Spidey books -

This thread brings me joy. I am far from a fanatic but reading this stuff is the best. @Cpt Kirk if I ever find any you need or are having troubles finding exist, I will make sure they end up in your hands. You have my word (we can trade, I like to trade ) Does anyone has a list of Marvel issues that are suspected to have them but have yet to be found? I am interested in helping if I can -
What area are you in? Maybe you hail from a region with many military bases, hence why your collection has so many. They are definitely less common. Not as rare as price variants by any means but definitely not the norm.

From what I know, Mark Jewelers issues were sold in stores near military bases, although I have never seen hard proof of that. This company was based out of California and it is hard to track down history on the company itself and how large it was. It is possible that some of them were sold at these department stores (again, maybe near areas with military bases). Would help to know the history of this company. Obviously they were large enough because they supplied jewelry across the US (again, I have never heard that these inserts were limited to one specific area). I would politely ask where this person got that info. From what I have read over the years, the documentation of these issues and there existence in certain issues is extensive but the history of how they came to be and what stores they were found in is hard to find.

Please grade this Witches Tales #11!
comicginger1789 replied to Point Five's topic in Hey buddy, can you spare a grade?
For comparison, a CGC 6.5 And a CGC 3.0 With all due respect, your copy has a lot more spine wear and top edge wear, not to mention the browning/tanning back cover. On the flip side, definitely stronger than this 3.0. So I will also say 4.5-5.0, somewhere in between makes the most sense to me. -
Cool thanks!

Yup, 4.5-5.0 from me also. -
This came in a lot I purchased years ago. Just wondering if people think it looks legit. Wasn’t advertised as part of the run at the time.

Acquired these a while ago. A bunch of the issues from the stretch had the distributor ink spray on them. Some were literally covered, others that presented better I held onto. Wondering how others would grade? Thanks!

Who Got This Weird Mysteries 5?
comicginger1789 replied to comicginger1789's topic in Golden Age Comic Books
Ya seller should be happy. Hope the buyer doesn’t pull any shenanigans after receiving. -
Are we being too nice? Yes it’s a flaw you can see but it really only shows by Beetles hand. I think without it you could be looking at 9.2-9.4 easily. At worst I would think 8.0 as it is but I have noticed CGC going a little easier on some of these Silver Age books, especially if they still present extremely well which yours does At any rate I hope you submit and am excited to learn how wrong I might be

Please grade this Blue Bolt Weird #113!
comicginger1789 replied to Point Five's topic in Hey buddy, can you spare a grade?
2.5-3.0 seems on the money. If an expert can fix the roll you might get a tad higher but the page quality looks a little worrisome for that. -
Would you crack and press?
comicginger1789 replied to Josh Ellis's topic in Hey buddy, can you spare a grade?
I will also say that at best this may come back 6.5 after press and clean. -
Pages are off-white

I love that interior writing! Someone noting it and who only knows what HRC means! -
Was sold to me as around 7.0. Looks a bit better. Has some discolouring to the white as seen in photo. Appreciate all thoughts!
