  1. ^Ouch I know zero about screenplays and the like but even I would have put several hundred buck on it at least....was it a typo? Can ya blame it on the a-a-a-a-a-alcohol?
  2. I also think 9.0 seems fair. For having read a bunch of times, you must have been somewhat careful. And I wouldn't say it shows too bad at all!
  3. I think 5.0 would be there with a press. Is that rust on center staple though? Sometimes they hit that hard. As it is, it is a solid 4.5
  4. I would grade it around 9.2-9.4 because of a couple spine ticks. 9.2's sell graded for $50-80 9.4's sell graded for similar, there is not much difference. What you want is 9.8 and or high grade newsstand copies, as those seem to command more. Unfortunately, I don't think this is a 9.8 specimen (and I know it is not a newsstand lol)
  5. Haha no I know. Those are no heavily hunted although pretty sure sure TTA #1 is a darn expensive book. Again, not sought after as much though by the masses. I would argue differently for MTU #1 though. I feel like it is an affordable book that always sells. I listed a copy couple years ago and within minutes, someone bought it for $15. It was 2.0-2.5. It doesn't have a first appearance or anything special other than being the first issue of a second Spidey title but that alone seems to warrant enough love and has for quite some time...more love than almost any other issue of the run.
  6. And I just learned it is Felix and he appears often in early McFarlane comics...to think I never knew until now!
  7. Not a person (and I havent read the issue in a while to know if he appears inside) but is that Felix the Cat in the garbage?
  8. I recalled a score someone definitely got off me. About 8 years ago I helped a colleague sell some of his collection. In hindsight, I shoulda bought it but I was saving for a house and dropping $1500-2000 on comics wasn't quite in the cards. I helped him sell his collection and he had a Giant Size X-Men. At the time, it was a $175-250 book in the condition he had, around a 4.5-5.0. Someone today is happy they snagged it back then
  9. If you can only afford one, go with the one you love most. If you love both equally, I think GSX1 is the better long term book. I think it will hold the values it is currenlty getting, if not increase slightly over time. ASM #129 will also increase but I feel it will do so slower. Plus, other factors like GSX1 being a thicker, squarebound book and a white cover make it harder to find nice copies even as mid grade and especially higher grade. I doubt either one ever comes down that much in price so if you are gonna hop on the train, now would be the time.
  10. If people desire a book, it can become a key book. Some keys are born every year. Some keys are keys for a bit and then lose that status. As this is a first issue of a long running series that was generally enjoyed by most during its run (and is the second Spidey title ever), I would say it classifies. There is always someone looking for one and they always sell. They can be hard to find in high grade what with that black cover. And to my knowledge, it has been a desirable book for a long time. For me, part of making a book a key is whether its value and desirability grows over time. I think that applies here.
  11. If it’s much over a $100 I will sell on eBay to feel safe and all. Can’t say I sell enough though to say someone has had a big score from me. Lots of smaller prices stuff I sell other ways because it’s cheaper and I don’t get hit with fees. Probably the best people have gotten off me are Thor 337. I used to buy for $2-5 and flip for $15-20 8-10 years ago. So those buyers are happy:)
  12. Ebay has always been my means to buy old comics. I live in a city with very little comic wise. Prior to that, school and such took up my time and focus so I did not hunt as hard as I wish I had 10 years ago. Here are some memorable ones: -ASM 97 signed by Gil Kane for under $10 -Batman #251 in a lot of beat up Silver Age Batmans. The #251 was in the best shape of them all, still have it. Paid $3 for it - A whack of early ASM issues from a seller in Mexico. I sold some from this lot and ended up with a bunch (like ASM #20 and 28) essentially free after I sold a couple from the lot. Oh and the lot only cost me $350 -Last year, a Hulk 180 in a lot of random Hulk books. I try to average one decently big score every year or so. Every buy I make I am happy with because I take my time. Some months, its 1 or 2 purchases. Others, I get lucky and buy 10-15 lots with good books. It's what I love to do
  13. 7.0-7.5 from me too. Spine ticks are multiple and very visible plus the small corner crease on front.
  14. ^ What a weird statement and thing happening on that cover Warlord as a series is extremely underrated. This cover I always loved. Same with the treasury, both by Grell.
  15. I definitely think this has 9.0 potential all over it dare I even say 9.2
  16. This is my favourite Bronze Age horror cover. I get the feeling that if it were done by a more notable artist, like Wrightson or even Cardy, it would get much more love.
  17. It is one of my favourite if not most favourite Bronze Age horror cover. Sadly because it was not done by a more notable artist, no one really seeks it out.
  18. Thanks. I was hitting it a tad harder personally because I have a hard time determining what CGC does with printer's creases, especially a couple of them. Luckily the cover colours hide the front ones very well
  19. Sigh...with the border being closed I have not been able to buy much at all. Ebay.ca is poo poo and shipping from US here is killer. There is a big buying spree in my future when the border does open back up and I can zip across to pick up parcels. In the meantime, a cheap online pick up I found.
  20. All time favourite cover from this series. Wondering if I am grading too harsh with some of the flaws so I’ll seek some second opinions:) Thanks! Those are printer creases on the front by the title and on the back, not rips FYI.
