  1. Not sure. I know with recent announcement of a Blade movie this book could start to climb a bit. It’s very tempting....
  2. ^also an excellent read and easy to obtain without breaking the bank.
  3. Normally I wouldn’t do this without better pics but a shop in my hometown is selling this copy for $400CAD (about 305US). The guy has said he would hold it for me but I’m trying to get more photos. Wondering what this one pic tells you in terms of grade (back cover has no stains or rips apparently). Thanks everyone!
  4. Welcome to the boards! We have a forum where you can post pics of your books and fellow collectors offer grade estimates. It’s called the Hey Buddy Can Ya Spare A Grade forum. That might help confirm your books a little more if they are not key issues though or important in some way, you are likely not going to lose money. What I mean is you could spend $30-40 on a book that’s only worth $20-30 in that condition so in that case it’s a loss. However if you are hoping to protect your books and that is the purpose of CGCing them, well go for it. Not sure how they would hold up if something bad were to happen again. (sorry to hear about your original collection:( Water and comics are a terrible mix and I’m not sure a CGC book would still survive without being damaged also.
  5. How dark do you want? Adams’ work on both titles is more serious as for about two decades before you had Batman fighting rainbow men, dragons and other non sensical stuff. Adams brought him back to a serious tone and there is some great art in his run. As the 70s continued others tried to continue this trend but the stories were not as great. The 80s are a great era for darker Batman. Runs like Year One by Miller, Death In The Family, the KG Beast storyline, the Killing Joke are all good arcs
  6. I sent my money via carrier pigeon. His name is Wilton, but he sometimes thinks he is an owl. You may have to look outside at night in a nearby tree. He will try to "hoo" but being a pigeon, it is distinctly a "coo". I also attached the comic to his other leg too, so he has the book you are to grade on one leg, the money on the other. Hopefully he makes it to you. The issue is a very rare one. Old too. X-Force #44. I saw it advertised once on Craigslist as "rare, old and valuable" which is why I though folding it up, attaching it to a pigeon with personality disorder and sending you $200 to grade it was a good idea.
  7. Those coverless copies are signed. So that adds value. A signed coverless copy can still command a fair price, although personally I would not pay it. Heck, the one auction is a just a page of the story signed going for $600. Would also love to see pictures of your X-Men 1. Most likely, to maximize your return, grading it would be a win. Unless you want to sell quickly. If you are willing to invest waiting another year or so to get stuff graded, it could be worthwhile. Any reason for selling? Just curious. Now is a great time. Comics arguably have not been hotter. The MCU and DCU to an extent have caused a renewed love for characters and comics in general. X-Men #1 is a book you should have no problem sellling. As for the rest, well depends on the issue as some between 1-59 are worth more than others but all definitely desirable.
  8. I am very pleased to see this community checking in on one of its own. On the flipside, I hope the original poster was not trying to be funny or cryptic for the sake of it. That angers me. You don't joke about it. You just don't. If it was a legit reaching out for help, we are here. Someone is always here. Someone will always listen. You just have to ask.
  9. You can get decent VF raws of #33 for $80-100 You can get decent VF raws of #37 for $25-40 I would offer closer to $700 personally. I think $900 is full on best case scenario for that seller, which obviously he/she would want.
  10. I'll wager 5.0. Also looks like colour touch due to bleed through on the front cover. Pretty sure CGC would note that and you would not get a blue label which sucks.
  11. I’ll settle at 5.5-6.0 Interesting spelling of the name Aden
  12. Spine curl, a stain in bottom right corner. Those seem to be the major drawbacks. I’m at 6.5-7.0 with a press potentially upping it. neat date stamp too!
  13. Yes, it has worked out for me and I would argue your odds of getting good deals and finding good stuff are better. Mainly because there is less of it but also less people around hunting for it so you find it first. I live in Ontario, Canada and used to live in southern Ontario. Close to a lot of major cities (close meaning within 2.5 hours). Sadly, I was not collecting as hard then as I am not (I was in university....had to pay to survive lol). I moved to Northern Ontario and now the nearest major city is 4 hours away and after that, another 4 hours to Toronto. So collecting locally has been tough. My suggestion? Hit up pawn shops, antique stores, any old bookstores. Post want ads on craigslist, find a website (if there is one) for your town/city/community and post want ads there or follow the classifieds. Chances are you will come across others who collect and know people who do. I find rural and smaller cities/towns the best because you have hidden collections there. Older men (and I suppose women although not as common) who have hoarded away collections. Families who had kids who had comics and just kept them stored away in the basement. If you advertise enough that you are looking for them, you will eventually get a response. Where I am, for example. There are two brothers with collections in excess of 60 000 comics! Stuff from the 1950's until now. I have been fortunate enough to be in contact with one of the brothers who has graciously shown me some of his collection and traded/sold stuff to me. The other brother I have yet to meet and see if he sells but hope to one day. I put ads on kijiji (Canadian craigslist) and have managed to scored a healthy Byrne run of X-Men, and multiple small boxes of silver and bronze age stuff. I also use this as a way to sell comics as there is only one shop that sells back issue and they are at a premium (normal stuff found in $0.50-1 are $3-5). People love buying from me because I sell stuff cheap, so that helps the income portion. I also stay on top of local yard sales during early spring and if posted on a site like Craigslist or Kijiji, I take some time to contact people to ask if they are selling comics (even if they dont list it in their yard sale listing). You'd be surprised how many times people respond "oh yes, I have some and other books". Finally, I resort to ebay. I know people love the hunt and this takes that all away, but you can make ebay interesting if you keep searches vague and are searching often enough and are patient enough to eventually get some good finds. I guess it all depends on how much you wanna work for it. I have lived where I am now for almost 7 years and every year am surprised with what pops up in my city in terms of comics. And I don't hunt too hard, heck I am too busy. If I had time, I would be driving around more, as there is stuff to explore and I am sure comics to be found.
  14. I think you made the right move 100%. You can buy 6.5 for less, graded even and (again personal opinion), they look better than the copy you were looking at. #33 and 37 are not high value books to offset.
  15. 4.0-4.5 for me. Mainly because of the spine and back cover staining.
  16. If you have an otherwise flawless book and it is a 9.2-9.4 but has a popped stapled, I think you could get a green certified label. But majority of collectors want the blue label. A popped staple in that case would bump to at least a 6.0 IMO. If you have a mid to lower grade book, the popped staple has less of an effect on the grade.
  17. ^ Seems generous I think you would see a fair hit for the tape pull or removal/stain combo on that back corner. Lots of spine ticks too. I think 4.5-5.0 would be a safe bet. If that pulls anything higher I would be surprised (and you would be pleased) Some 6.5's for comparison (yours seems worse) https://www.ebay.com/itm/WEREWOLF-BY-NIGHT-32-Moon-Knight-1st-appearance-CGC-6-5-FN-Marvel-Comic-1975/192958506663?hash=item2ced3926a7:g:0CYAAOSwqYJdDT-5 https://www.ebay.com/itm/WEREWOLF-BY-NIGHT-32-CGC-6-5-FN-Moon-Knight-1st-appearance-1975-New-Case/143305460271?hash=item215dabca2f:g:LQYAAOSwq05dDsSw Some 4.5s for comparison (similar to yours with spine wear and stains on back) https://www.ebay.com/itm/Werewolf-By-Night-32-CGC-4-5-Marvel-1975-1st-Moon-Knight-Key-Bronze-H11-191-cm/352574216161?hash=item52170f97e1:g:N2AAAOSwGIZcRW05:sc:USPSPriority!49783!US!-1 https://www.ebay.com/itm/Werewolf-By-Night-32-marvel-1975-CGC-4-5-comic-1ST-MOON-KNIGHT-MEGA-KEY/123754917710?hash=item1cd05e2f4e:g:QZ0AAOSw~PVczHes
  18. Assuming back cover is decent, I am around 5.0-5.5.
  19. I have seen spine ticks similar on 8.0 books. Safely, I will say 7.5-8.0. Lovely book!
  20. My error. I meant to put IM 3. 2 was a decent action flick. As for watching the worst DC, I already know I dont love Superman, Aquaman and Wonder Woman. The Suicide Squad is an interesting team concept and I wanted to see how the movie fared. Plus, they nailed advertising it in the trailers. Looked action packed, had a great sountrack....sadly the movie was much much worse. So I guess that is why I started there. And again, my lack of love or care for the others have kept me away.
  21. As for DC, have not seen anything since Nolan's stuff. Reviews always seem to negative and I tried one DC film, Suicide Squad, and was thoroughly disappointed. What was that? I assumed other DC films were similar (and the reviews on many support that) so I have stayed away. I heard Wonder Woman was okay so maaaybeee I will watch it one day but as I am not a huge DC fan other than liking Batman, I doubt it.
  22. My list and reasons for those who care: 1. Spider-Man 3 (Tobey Maguire film)- took a decent start to a franchise and destroyed it with poor casting and a terrible plot 2. Both Amazing Spider-Man films. A cool Peter Parker who acted terribly and bland plots with no real direction and a mish mash of Spidey's history. Liked the casting for Gwen, hated everything else. 3. Iron Man 3. What was the point? Honestly, did it give us ANY connections to anything in the MCU? 4. All X-Men movies ever since the first one. Never was a huge X-Men fan to begin with, never liked the grey suits. Disliked the attempted pre-quels too. Time to start anew. 5. Thor The Dark World. Tried to be high fantasy and failed. Wish it would have succeeded because that is how Thor should be IMO
  23. Greatest is definitely Green Goblin. Most popular is definitely Venom. Although, I would not say any stories involving the two are anywhere near as great as stories involving Spidey and the Green Goblin, be it Norman in the suit or his son. Venom definitely is a continual concern for Spidey which helps push him above other villains in term of how threatening he is. Kraven deserves a nod for being a formidable foe and challenging foe, as does Hobgoblin, Doc Ock and Kingpin. All other villains were just one and done beat em ups. Nothing wrong with that, they all posed challenges at times, but I feel the 6 I have mentioned are his greatest villains in terms of always there, always pushing and challenging Peter/Spider-Man time and time again.
