Grade is in. ASM #15
comicginger1789 replied to FrontStands's topic in Hey buddy, can you spare a grade?
First, awesome book. Second..I need one Third...oh yeah a grade! 6.0 easily...little things keep it from 6.5 for me (spine wear and top edge wear and the amount of it) -
GRADE IS IN! PGM GI JOE #1 News Stand
comicginger1789 replied to Snowdon's topic in Hey buddy, can you spare a grade?
Tough one...modern book, tear appears to go through all of it. Personally, I hit those hard and would call it 7.0-7.5 if I had it raw and was trying to sell it. CGC might be nicer, I really don't know. They certainly won't be meaner than my grade though. -
I keep my keys in with my runs....for example, my Iron First run has 14 right in amongst the rest. Over time, my plan is to eventually slab the most valuable stuff I have so it will one day be graded but right now I like keeping things in with each other.

This right here. They all look relatively the same condition wise. To suggest someone curated this collection and is trying to pass it off as Ditkos is not impossible but I do think it feels kind of silly to make that your belief simply because it goes against some preconceived notions about the man. Plus if enough of the right people authenticate them (family, overseers of his estate, etc) then that is good enough for me. I know we would all like to have heard Steve himself say “yeah I kept stuff” but that can’t happen now.

Ah but even in that answer of “I refuse to have anything to do with Spidey” he is not really answering your question. Which sounds like classic Ditko.

Price drop! $575USD shipped -
Hi all! Some Batman books here for you to consider. Would like to sell the lot. The books are… Batman 222- Marker on cover, tear at bottom staple but still holding fine. Calling it VG Batman 237-nice looking copy. Small stain on top edge of cover. Calling it VG/FN Batman 251- great book except for two larger creases bottom right. Calling it a VG+ And then, because I will package a nice little box, the assorted other Batman books shown, all VF range or better. Asking $620USD shipped or best offer. First claim takes it. PayPal for payment please. If you get the books and are unhappy, let me know and I will make it right. Thanks for looking!

FF 10 What Resto Is This?
comicginger1789 replied to comicginger1789's topic in Comic Book Grading and Restoration Issues
I passed on buying it soon as I saw it. He has it priced as a 2.0 raw but I still didn’t want it because I didn’t know what was going on back there, hence why I wanted to check with some more educated minds than mine -
FF 10 What Resto Is This?
comicginger1789 replied to comicginger1789's topic in Comic Book Grading and Restoration Issues
It is 11 Front cover feels good. Waves on edges of cover only. Mold eh? Could be that…I can’t say as I’ve ever come across one in person so I’m no mold expert. The back cover felt thicker though. And I don’t own. A guy I know is selling it and I wanted to help him out if it is restored by giving him heads up -

Grading a Double Cover
comicginger1789 replied to comicginger1789's topic in Comic Book Grading and Restoration Issues
Sounds like a customer service complaint…and something that , while annoying, they should be fixing on their dime -
PGM Dr Strange 4
comicginger1789 replied to comicginger1789's topic in Hey buddy, can you spare a grade?
See i hammered the detached centrefold at top staple only. I figured without that flaw it’s 9.0-9.2 but with it I knocked it all the way down to 7.5-8.0 -
Grade is in: Batman 181
comicginger1789 replied to gadzukes's topic in Hey buddy, can you spare a grade?
CGC might hammer it. So will I. 4.5-5.0. Structurally it looks like my Batman 251 which is a 6.0…light spine wear and some other minor flaws just like k see on the front of yours. The back of my 251 though is a quite clean. Hence why I strongly doubt this gets a 6.0 -
4.5 Slim chance at a 5.0 but I doubt it because a lot of the damage is creases and west that breaks colour. Presents solid though. A clean and press may make it a little flatter and cleaner on the back but personally, I don’t think it helps with the grade. You could spend the $25-35 or whatever for those services and it won’t really matter IMO

PGM Black Cat Comics 1 (1946)
comicginger1789 replied to Kramerica's topic in Hey buddy, can you spare a grade?
3.0-3.5 from me also -
Fair enough. Scarce to me means the demand outstrips supply. So no silver age book fits that bill in my books. Rare/scarce I assume as the same meaning whether that’s right or wrong when talking comics
-
Again it all depends how to are viewing scarcity. If you think hey 6000 on census, maybe 10000 in existence period that’s scarce, well maybe that is to you. But I think books that exist under 1000 or even 500 copies are truly scarce
-
Ok but you are only focusing on graded copies. I know 10 collectors in my modest city of 75000 people all with Avengers 1. They are all over 55 years old and one has his graded. And the others want nothing to do with CGC. There are a lot of these collectors out there….more than people imagine And again. You can get Avengers 1. If I wanted one this second, I could get one. It’s not scarce. But perhaps the idea of scarcity needs defining then. To me, certain golden age (or even older) books are the definition of scarce
