  1. Definitely work on refining those grading skills. A fine copy would not have that heavy spine damage or split to the top. Add on the stain/dirt on the back and well when you have those, 2.5 is about where she falls
  2. I have a 6.0 And your copy even with the pen presents much cleaner and stronger structurally. This, I say 7.0-7.5 easy. Maybe even an 8.0 if a press fixes that small bend on the back. The writing is not damage it’s old dating/markings and they very common and still can appear on higher graded books .
  3. I’ve also heard this. I mean personally, CGC cases are visually the best. I get wanting to have books back and quick because hey maybe you are someone trying to flip a book when it’s hot or whatever. If you are not I don’t get why you can be patient?
  4. Highly recommend grading guide for those working on their skills! Bought many over the years and still refer to once in a while. As a general rule early on, if I thought my book was Fine, I would grade Fine minus just to be safe. And I still sometimes do that when selling so as to not have disappointed buyers
  5. Could present nicer with a clean but that chunk is the main killer. 1.8 although a 2.0 would not shock me for a golden age book. Anything more is unlikely in my eyes
  6. If that ink mark near the top staple is just that (or can be removed…I had similar black mark in my ASM 361 and a little erasing work removed easily), you could be looking at a higher grade. However if those back cover creases in the top left corner break colour (they appear to but it’s hard to tell), then I think 8.5 would be the highest to hope for.
  7. A good way to think and hey, you may very well have a 9.8 in there (never ever ever expect a 9.9 or 10.0 As they are extremely rare grades to get) People here tend to be conservative. From what I see, I think the book has 9.6-9.8 potential. If grading and selling (or grading and keeping in its excellent shape) is the goal, do it as I think it is a great book and great looking book worthy of a high grade. I don’t see any spine ticks (need to see the back) and the corners are sharp which, if nothing else is happening like minute creases or stains, means you have a solid shot at 9.6-9.8
  8. Before scrolling Down I thought 8.0 also (I swear lol) For those thinking it looks better, the main detractors are the colour rubs. I have a 9.2 ASM 149 with the smallest spot of colour rub on the front and that’s what killed that book. This one, along with some light edge and corner wear, and multiple spots of colour rub on the cover, falls where it should. And that’s not to say it’s not awesome because it is and I wish I had a copy!
  9. Back should dry clean up and look sharp. I see VF range potential here for sure
  10. Hi all, I have a handful of Silver Age books that are sharp VF range or so books but some of the pages have circular yellowing stains as seen at the bottom of the example here. Wondering if that takes it out of the VF range for grading or if it’s common and does not factor in.
  11. Hi all, A lot of some lower grade romance comics here for you. Lot includes: My Love 1- GD range, attached but worn with wear and creasing My Love 5- VG range with pencil on cover and small water stain lower right back cover. Bottom staple also has some rust Our Love Story 4- VG minus range. Looks better but a page is detached completely. Still there just detached. Our Love Story 14- GD/VG, the curvy one of the group. Some rust on staples. A good long press would make it better I’m sure. Entire lot is yours for $45USD. First claim gets it, open to offers. Shipping is $10 within Canada and the US. Paypal only for payment. If unhappy upon arrival, I will take returns or else I’ll make it right. Message me with any other questions!
  12. Thanks! I will post another update soon however this month has been more of a bummer to be honest! Maybe that will change ya never know!
  13. Or take both lots for $500USD shipped! This offer is off the table if someone claims one of the lots, obviously.
  14. How about another lot? Issues 2, 3, 4 and 5 Issue 2 is probably the best, around a 5.0. The others have some tape stain marks along the top edge, which is a shame. Let’s call them all VG. Take the lot for $175 USD shipped. Or make me an offer!
  15. I’ll use this thread to eventually list a few more….desirable….issues
  16. Hi everyone! Selling off doubles here and issues I don’t care for. Can’t keep it all. Included in this lot are the following issues: 30, 31 34, 36-41, 44-52, 59, 60, 62-69, 71-77, 83-89, 92, 94, 113 Total of 45 magazines. Conditions range from VG on a couple, many are in the Fine to low Very Fine range with a couple higher. If you want pics of a specific issue let me know. I’ve included a picture of the worst issue in the lot (issue 47, bottom of spine has glue detaching by presents nice) and others that are representative of the overall condition. Asking $385USD shipped. First claim gets them all! Feel free to make an offer. Paypal only for payment (unless you are in Canada then I can do EMT). Returns accepted but if unhappy, tel me and I will make it right. Thanks!
  17. I’m the same way as I’m often much too harsh on Golden age books when I try to grade them
  18. Ahhh but therein lies the difference between the Gold and Silver Age stuff my friend. Golden age books get a pass. Silver and Bronze will not
  19. If Eiffel 65 were into comics… ”I’m Groo, dabba de dabba die” sorry 9.0-9.2 from me
  20. I think that’s why it was hit hard. It’s dark along the top right for sure.
  21. You can’t go wrong with a bunch of Vampirella mags in great condition for $1 a piece right? oh and best of all half or more have date stamps
  22. The spine does show some light wear near the staples. I might as well share I do think 8.0-8.5 or better would have happened if not for the edge fading. Tis fine by me as I am happy to get these early ASM in any condition Fine or better
