  1. Not to direct this at any one person, obviously more like a large group of people...

But what's with the constant derailment of this thread? I mean, I started a new clean one so we could have this thread serve a purpose, yet you all strive to completely crash it like a train wreck. What gives?

Is it that the majority here don't want a buyer/seller beware thread? Should we just can the whole idea? Is it that it's not designed the way you want it? Do you think it's a silly idea? Really, tell me cause I'm having a hard time understanding where you guys are comming from on this. We're left to police ourselves here, but it doesn't really look like a good portion of active posters give a ratz azz.

  2. Ok, let's try this again as this actually does serve a purpose for either resolving certain transactions and or working as a "buyer/seller" beware thread.

This is still Divad's baby and I'll leave it to him or another designated person to do the updates and/or additions/subtractions. :foryou:

  3. I know I've mentioned this somewhere before, but I don't see it in here, but in the movie Halloween, young Tommy Doyle has a collecton of comics where you can see a Howard the Duck #26 and an X-Men comic.

On DVD, I could only malke out the HTD book, but I later noticed while watching a special one night movie theater showing last year that the X-Men book can be clearly seen as well..forgot the dang number though. doh!

  5. Real Newbee here, hope I do this right.

I have a 'Golden Record - ASM#1_Reprint', can not scan the back as it is still within the original shrink wrap of the record - Never Opened.

Think it is worth opening to have CGC'ed or just posting on the Forum "Hey buddy, can you spare a grade?

    Thanks!

I think I'd leave it sealed with the record.

  6. Ok forgive my ignorance please as I am new to these boards. My question is a simple one. I hear references to GREGGY all the time. No matter what topic, GREGGY comes up. Who is GREGGY? Why is he always the topic of discussion. What relevance is GREGGY. Can someone please describe This GREGGY and why so many people are seemingly obsessed with GREGGY? (shrug)

    He's the graemlin guy... greggybananauk1.gif

...and collector of krappy DC books.

  7. I kind of disagree with what CarolinaComix said about time payments. I don't see whats wrong with someone inquiring about time payments on a book if its done before they send an offer or commit to buy it. I've paid for a few large purchases with time payments and also let someone purchase from me using time payments without a problem so far. I have no problems with it if everyone understands the terms and everything is in writing.

However, if someone commits to buying a book then all of a sudden says they want to do time payments I think that's total BS.

    -Jay

I agree. I've had several purchases where I've made time payments and it helped me obtain some books I otherwise wouldn't have been able to buy at the time.

As long as it's worked out ahead of time and both the seller and the buyer are cool with the terms, then I see no problem with it. It should never be sprung on a seller after the :takeit: though as Jay said.

  8. 10 Ok, I like the improvements. I especially like the new color coding going on to let you know which threads have been read or not. Big improvement (thumbs up

I know there will still be some tweaks to the color scheme, but atleast now, I can read without the eyestrain, so again...kudos!

If this kind of change keeps happening, I might have to switch from my "Mad" mood graemlin...although it's kind of grown on me and I'm considering keeping it anyway :)

BTW: The clapping graemlin isn't working right. When you click it, it just puts a "10" on the page and stays a "10" when you post. (Example: My post was supposed to start of with the clapping graemlin, but shows a number 10 instead)

  9. It just gets worse and worse.

I went to the Marketplace, saw that there were 20+ new posts, then headed back to General to read something quick, but when I went back to the Marketplace, suddenly all the new posts were gone/read.

That never happened on the old UBB, and unread posts would stay resident if you quickly ducked in and out of a forum.

I just noticed that as well. That very well might be the worst thing about the change so far.

I've had the same kind of problems as well.

  10. Wow you guys are tough,

You act like this when you dont get things your way in real life foreheadslap.gif

Its a message board, someone elses to begin with not Burger King stooges.gif

Yeah... I just don't get it. Sure the colors suck and there are other glitches, which WILL be corrected. In the grand scheme of things, this is stuff so small it's laughable. As I write this, people are dying, going broke and suffering in truly horrible ways. And, a number of CGC Forumites are person_without_enough_empathying because their chat board ain't the way it used to be.

    People, get a grip.

Moreover, why were people coming here in the first place? Because of the snazzy features or because of the sense of community and the people?

Steve, I'd say it's the sense of community and people, and...

most of the community and people here are NOT happy with this recent overhaul and change to the boards.

So, in essence, you should be reading these B&M threads much like a group of kids in your neighborhood gathering around their old park playground after the city came in and "revamped" it by taking out all of their favorite slides, swings and jungle gym bars and replaced them with a bunch of activities the kids aren't all that interested in. Of course, the city didn't ask the kids what they liked, or if they would be excited about a change, they just came in and did it, then told all the kids how much better the new stuff is.

  11. Official list of board members who are "logging out" until the boards are fixed. See you all later.

Buck Biggins - I will be checking for pm messages. Just ignoring everything else.

I can tell you that I'll be on here less. Mainly, the color scheme going on along with the smaller font has my eyes feeing strained rather quickly, so I have to jump on and off intermittenly.

For now, I'll keep checking back to see what progress is or isn't being made over this next week, then go from there. If not much progress has happened or if I still am not adjusting to the new site, or if more posters I like begin to disappear, then I will likely continue to fade out more and more.

  12. I posted these in my other thread, but am so overjoyed at getting these framed and up on my walls, I'm posting here too. smile.gif

Ok, here's some pics of the pieces I had framed...

Thanks to my wife for allowing me to let these creep out of my collectibles room and into our hallway. The cover is to the left of my CR door, the page to the right, and the litho above the door.
