since going to the WC is neither convenient nor completely friendly / familiar, you would be okay with taking the word "Comics" out of "Comics General?"
i'm just wanting to know the reason(s) why some seem to be fine with making this forum less and less comic-centric.
my own personal belief is that if you want to talk about movies and books and things you read on teh Intranets that have nothing to do with comics...you do it in the Water Cooler. if you don't know the people there, then get to know them. if it's inconvenient, then create a WC bookmark. it takes two seconds to jump to the WC and back, for the love of Pete
I guess I just don't see OT posting as being out of control. I enjoy the occasional OT post from fellow board members I've gotten to know here and if I were to post an OT question, it's these same people whose opinions I'd want to hear from.
it's not "out of control." yet. but why wait until it's out of control before addressing it.
and your statement is a far cry from "oh, it's not convenient for me to click over to the WC so i just post OT here." you don't see the OT topics as a problem; this is personal preference, which i can abide...rather than simple laziness...which i can't.
You must hate comic conventions as even though they have the name "comic" attached, they are full of other stuff you'd consider OT.no, but i do hate conventions that are ostensibly comic-related, only to find that there are three dealer booths and eight hundred tables of pr0n, dvds, D&D stuff, Magic games and Star Trek paraphenalia.
oh, and don't tell me what i hate and what i don't hate. i hate it when people do that *spoon*. just respond to what i write, not what you think i should have written but decided not to for whatever reason
Deep breaths Sal, deep breaths.
One of my initial points was true for me, in that I never see the WC thread because of how I log on. Arch pointed out the "jump to" option which frankly, I never even looked at before.
I still don't see myself really visiting the WC much. It's like I don't mind seeing some OT posts here in CG from people I know, but don't feel any urges to bother searching the WC full of OT posts from people I don't know.
So, to me, if they pop up here and there, they are kind of refreshing (especially if we're going through one of our pressing = bad/good debate periods). Now, if the OT posts began to outnumber the on topic posts, it could become bothersome if not seperated.
The only thing I find confusing is the selection of which OT posts are allowed or removed. I could see where it might be taken somewhat personally for someone to post an OT post only to have it wiped rather quickly while others remain and even get posted afterwards with no attention.

I agree. I never go to the WC. I forget it's even there as I log onto the chats via cgccomics.com and not collectors-society.com. To navigate from the WC back and forth to our comics chats is a bit of a hassle IMO, thus I rarely have ever been there.
Plus what everyone else says...I'd rather get the opinions of people who I know and hang out in CG.

Kudos to inconceivable for a great transaction on a What If? #24 9.8. Thanks again Dan

Picked this page up from Javier Saltares at the KC Comic con for $10. As he signed it, he told me this page was his first Spider-Man artwork.

A couple recent con purchases:

OK, I take it all backKudos to Pirate for the quick pay on a Conan # 24 cgc 9.8.Darkhorse series troll.

An extra-special shout out to Scheradon for some cherry Human Fly books that top off yet another full-run for me!
... additional props for parting with one of his many "9.8 WP" books to help a fellow collector upgrade a bit!
Rojatt's-HO!
Thanks again, John!
Glad I could help Neal! It makes it easier being second in the registry to such a true fan!!

Doesn't even have white pages
j/k, nice book!

The Hallowean statue is the bomb.
Thanks!
I love it. I tend to be a "leave it in the box" collector, but this statue was just too cool to not display.
-
Scheradon your room reminds me of this great store in Wheaton MD
What a cool store! I'd love to have a little store like that.... ...Oh man, that means I'd have to sell my stuff though..
I really dig that Robby the Robot he has.

SCHERADON nice Micronaut/Microman collection you got there!
Thanks!
I've been thinking of going after MOC and MIB vintage Micronauts from my childhood. I still have several of my figures, but some have broken/missing parts, etc. (I tended to get full use out of my toys...)

Send payment yet?
Man, sorry about that. I see that I purchased something on April 12, but I don't even remember what it was. Paypal sent. (I rounded it up to an even number.)
I think it was the lack of total in the PM. You listed two mailing options and I probably didn't want to do the math at that time. (Or I was in the office.)
That's okay. With the VCC and all the work you were putting into that, I figured my PM got lost in the shuffle.
So, without further adieu...Kudos to Shin for a quick payment on a group of Marvel Super Actions, Spotlights, and Amazing Adventures.

I don't usually do this regularly, but here's a kudos to some of the people I've done business with in the last few months (some multiple times). (I'm just going through my PMs so it might not be completely accurate.)

Nice, but where are the actual comics?
. There are some in there actually...I just didn't get them in my photos. A stack of BA DC Horror, some moedern Horror and my Mad collection (which has the comics and mags 1-400 or so in the folders).
I'm still working on sqeezing in my CGC collection somewhere

Okay, here's the story...My wife was gracious enough to allow me one room to turn into my collectibles room. I told her I'd sell whatever I couldn't display in the room. Now, it's a fairly small bedroom and I hate to get rid of stuff, so...
My Horror...
More Horror...
And more Horror...
Even more Horror...
And even more Horror...
Limited Halloween Statue Set...
Limited Freddy vs Jason Statue Set...
My Hulk and Spider-Man Bookcase...
Monopoly Anyone?
My Battlestar Galactica Collection...
All the folders at the far end hold the majority of my Mad Magazine Collection...
My Godzilla/Shogun Warriors/Soul Of Chogokin Collection...
More Godzilla, then some Gamera and Micronauts...
Microman Collection...
Marvel Non-Comic Collection...
I've even had to utilize my closet...
Planet of the Apes Collection/ My 1/4 scale Darth Vader and my Rudolph/New Line Horror/and Universal Horror Villages.
Sorry for all the pics (I left out my Rudolph and Scooby shelves since they were in my other pic).
Now, want he good news? My wife and I are expecting our second child in November, so my "collectibles" room may be going bye-bye again.
-
Love the horror collection! Very cool...
John
Why don't I see these though???
Believe it or not, I don't have either of those.
I've been too busy buying comics lately to update my horror collection. I tend to my collecting

This was an early shot as I was just setting up my collectibles room. It's changed quite a bit as I now have book cases and shelves around the entire perimeter of the room and set up in the middle forming an island as well.
I'll try and take some updated shots and post them soon.

These just showed up at my door...

Two pretty sweet books I've been looking for for a while:
Ahhhh!, so that's where that Kng-Size Invaders #1 went to. I had it on my watch list, then it ended as no longer available for sale. Congrats on it being you who got it!
Congrats on the Avengers #71 too!

I picked these up from Bobby Storms...
Sweet books! I just love the DC horror

Just got this one delivered to my doorstep...

One of my favorite movies...although, no matter how many times I watched it, I never knew what the heck this word was he was saying.
