  1. it was a weird collection. OO. 30's through 2 weeks ago. He had New Avengers #1 in there. The guy just passed. No bags, though?
  2. Thanks! I picked it up maybe 2 years ago from Metro, back when you could find WW2 Actions at a steady pace. Alas, there were no good back room books of interest yesterday. Though there was a 200 box collection they were going through, all unbagged, unboarded- I starting flipping through a random box, then got to a full run of World's Finest starting at the beginning, to which Frank said "Oh, be careful with those, some are brittle.." as I pulled out World's Finest #4.
  3. so, just getting around to scanning my Action Comics collection. I'll post a few a day over the next week or so...
  4. Jon, just trying to focus. But this stuff is making it hard! The other thing I like about these covers-for me- is that there is so much detail that a lot of cover damage that brings a book down to my price range wouldn't be as noticeable. It looks like I can collect these in 2.0-3.0 and be very happy, unlke alot of the Supes stuff where damage is front and center.
  5. I am so close to starting up a Marvel Mystery collection. This is absolutely my favorite thread on the boards. Timely; how long has it taken you to put together your collection?
  6. thanks all- yeah #60 has that brand new white page smell. Some BC damage kept it affordable.
  7. Just back from getting a quick Metropolis comics fix. First Lois walking off to show her' appreciation to the boys in uniform', with a knowingly voyeuristic Superman onlooking... Then, the only WW2 Action book left in Metro's stock...
  8. awesomeness all around. Are the WW2 books as gruesome on the inside as they are on the covers?
  9. Sweet! Dude! Love that cover- was my first Action pickup.
  10. Once I finish off my Action 7-63 run, I'm all over it. I'll get back to you in 20 years.
  11. This thread is f'ing brilliant! I really love the way you can spend some time looking at each cover, and get a real story out of it. The detail is astounding. I haven't collected Timely's before, but I now find myself flipping through the All Winners and Marvel Mystery sections of Overstreet, thinking "Hmmm I can afford a few of these...!"
  12. I LOVE those old Ace books. All I need is WWIII #1 and Atomic War! #2....Atomic War! #1 was actually my first GA purchase. I'ts a fitting match for your WWIII #1- I'll post it up when I get the chance.
  13. well those copies are... nicer.. than mine. No Atomic War #1? At least I can post that! And is that a reader copy of WWIII there you have scanned?
  14. great thread! I'm surprised no one has posted up Atomic War! or World War III covers. I'll try to get mine up in a few days.
  15. Zatara covers have the best graphic design to the covers, in my *professional* opinion.
  16. this just came in the mail, not 10 minutes ago- looks good! apart from a 1" chunk missing out of the lower back corner
  17. nice one! too bad it's not the 'real' first Lois Lane cover
  18. what do you guys think of this one? http://www.comicsupply.com/images/superman53.jpg
  19. Nice! I was considering the 63 on heritage this week, til I saw it had a (basically) detached cover, as well as other flaws. Your's is totally solid!
