  1. Also if anyone if there the rest of the show, Beechara has some amazing stuff too.
  2. On the train home after a very interesting day at NYCC. More to come but here’s some of what I got did today. Apologies for the Amtrak lighting. PS Lee Weeks may have hit it out of the park, and a really nice guy to boot. PLUS, I MET OFF WHITE MIKE!
  3. Albert priced his McFarlane Splash at $85,000...
  4. Great pages - some Silvestri/Green Wolverine offers too.
  5. We must have seen each other at the booth. I didn’t hang around waiting for Bill though, I figured I’d come back in an hour - the book is so beautiful I would have been happy with any page - I definitely didn’t figure for selling complete. I think my jaw was on the floor when Sal told me. It was my first stop at NYCC and I was pretty gutted.
  6. Lots delivered today but two particularly special pieces - Mister Miracle #6 Cover and The Jungle Adventure Pg. 16. Enjoy!
  7. 4?!? Aye Caramba! I feel your pain - I’ve really only been collecting the past few years and the war chest I put together in lieu of a mid-life crisis car is almost finished. I’ve got 2 young kids and I think that mentally I have put any truly big fish purchase out of reach for the foreseeable future. I’ll never have the gallery of kirby covers or great splashes from significant golden/silver age classics - I found a nice piece with a classic character And Kirby pencil for days at 1/3 cost of a Jim Lee commission. There have also been some fantastic Thor pages popping up recently. Luckily, it doesn’t seem to bother me that much. I have one grail piece that I’m chipping away at - my expected timeline is about 20 years. Other than that I’ll echo everyone else in saying I buy stuff that I love and I never regret it. That being said, sometimes I’m mindful of the future. For example, I recently bought a lot of art from a younger/contemporary artist I really love. In 20 years if those pages fund a big purchase so be it, and if not, I’m delighted to have them. Win-win. Also, for our generation (making an assumption here), there are so many achievable semi-grail pieces from the 80s/90s. I’m sad I likely won’t ever have a Mcfarlane cover, but I’ve got a nice page. But we’ll never be able to amass a WORLD class collection of older pieces, not until they start to devalue in 20 years... On the other end of the spectrum (aka definitely not appreciating) I really, really enjoy hunting for commissions. I like meeting creators and speaking with them, and I end up with mostly amazing pieces that I value in a very different way. Happy collecting!
  8. It’s also worth mentioning the obvious care and attention Jim Lee puts into the commissions, as born out by his social media/twitch feeds. He really enjoys working on them and exploring/growing as an artist. I believe Albert told @Nexus that there was only ever one commission that the buyer expressed unhappiness with, and that image went on to become an epic cover in its own right. As mentioned Jim Lee is a busy exec at DC so that lends added value to his TIME. And he has a large family that he devotes time to. And he visits every Walmart in America weekly to hide the Marvel mags. Every person who okays the quote from Albert is, I believe, happy to do so.
  9. I think it was priced just right. A fraction of Jim Lee , but something I still had to think twice about (the busts were more reasonable = Mignola small sketch). I think if he didn't have reps then everyone would suffer, because he was a really, really nice guy. He takes his time when he's interacting with fans and there were a lot of people who wanted to see him and get signatures etc, so I think this is the best option. Someone else mentioned that he takes a list before SDCC - I think that would yield a great commission if you were able to communicate with him directly, as opposed to this in which I had to list my character on a form online without discussing with the artist. I saw a Talia commission the other day that knocked my socks off. Like any artist, if they're into the subject matter, you're gonna get gold.
  10. Commissioned at FanExpo Boston this year. Part of a meet and greet package. Marc was awesome, really gave us a lot of time and spoke openly about everything, including the upcoming Batman/Joker mini.

  12. I see those page from #38 are still in circulation - now up at Hakes. Owner has been trying to sell them for a couple years from what I’ve seen. It’s going to be tough to get premium Sandman prices for those.
  13. When a group of people are walking abreast and blocking the whole sidewalk. Also, reps that don’t return emails. And, frankly, when people post links to their artwork instead of the image. Don’t force a view of your artwork on CAF.
  14. This thing is amazing. Speedy shipping too!
  15. I keep wondering the same thing. But apparently LS so... I would have gone for the 7k page, I liked it a lot. For me, 9k is too much for this page.
  16. Albert has a Keith page up in the new update. From issue 1... http://www.albertmoy.com/gallerypiece.asp?Piece=15627
  17. My one and only, and I love it. Both pencils and inks.
  18. Ha! I’m the same - will be extremely frugal about not spending $10 on overpriced food, and I’ll likely take an Uber pool to the con - but then I’ll drop $$$$ on funny book drawings! 🤪
  19. Here are mine. Narrowly missed out on a Keith page from Albert, but always looking. Sorry for the poor quality of the scans. I’ve been seeing a lot of love for Todd Klein lately and it is richly deserved. Simply the best. Will give pinky toe for anything from 50...
