  3. I saw this post on the Brian Bendis tumbler page. Bendis talks about a story told to him some time ago by former Marvel editor Ralph Macchio who went to visit Steve Ditko at his studio. Ralph apparently saw a pile of Dr. Strange art by Ditko that had never been published by Marvel. Ditko told Ralph that the pages were for a brand new Dr. Strange graphic novel--never intended to be published--just drawn for Ditko's own pleasure. I found this to be astounding. Here is the post borrowed from the Bendis page: Have you ever talked to Ditko? Any second hand stories even? Anonymous I had an amazingly similar experience to the one Jonathan Ross had. when I was doing my series of creator interviews for Wizard magazine I reached out to him. I knew full well that he didn’t do interviews anymore but I thought MAYBE if it was a creator creator interview there might be a slim chance he would be up for it. I got his number from our mutual friend and editor Ralph macchio. I called him up and explained myself and who I was and what I wanted to do. he said he appreciated that but he didn’t do interviews. I said I completely understand but, off the record, I was curious to what happened that made him not want to do interviews anymore. he said that’s an excellent question but it’s an interview question and I DON’T DO INTERVIEWS ANYMORE!!! before he hung up I was able to thank him profusely for creating Spiderman and all that that has given me in my life. I do know that on some level he heard me so I feel really good about that. Ralph told me that he went to his house yeares ago and saw a big pile of Dr. strange original art and he asked what it was for. Steve said that it is a brand-new Dr. strange graphic novel. Ralph asked when he could read it and he said: no, that that’s not for you it’s just for me. you have to admire the purity
  4. That does not look like Romita to me at all. It looks like another artist copied a Romita pose. I think it's a fake. I hope it wasn't too expensive.
  5. My understanding is that he is on vacation in Thailand. I wouldn't worry about it at all. Mike will come through.
  6. I bought the Darwyn Cooke complete 11 page story to Phantom Quarterback from Albert a few years back. This was based on the original 70's DC story, and has dialogue by Stan Lee. It's a great read and a really fun story! The word balloons are not on the originals, however. Here the pages...
  7. The reason Disney doesn't or won't sell original art is that they don't own any. They have no inventory. They would have to buy and resell, and that's not the business they're in. Much better to have Spider-Man mugs purchased from China that they have good margins on and no trouble getting inventory. Trying to buy quality art for resale would be a major headache for them. The closest would be prints of giclees that could be mass produced -- again no inventory problem. But these are hardly original.
  8. That's not bad. For $15 bucks more, this bag is much better. Best one I've owned. Doesn't rip. Has additional straps to support the bag. For $40 bucks its probably better than the $240 kickstarter bag. I've owned the Pratt bag -- it rips when the load gets heavier. https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B076H2TXXB/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1
  9. Many new vintage listings at my CAF for PANEL PAGE ART. 60s-90s. Too many to list. Pop by and see for yourself... http://www.comicartshop.com/ComicArtShopsByCat.asp?GCat=2703 Thanks! Glen
  10. It would be easy of you picked out a few strips that might work and then went to Mike and asked if he owned them. That makes it easy for Mike to just check his collection. Then he'll give you a price when you select the one you want. Probably faster then asking around elsewhere. Just my take.
  11. You should contact Mike Burkey. He owns more than half of the newspaper strips from the first 3 years and I'm sure he'd sell you one.

  13. Honestly, I think comparing the Conan cover to ASM 69 is REALLY jumping the shark and kind of skirting the point. There are plenty of covers with the hero in a weakened state that I would find desirable -- that Conan doesn't happen to be one of them.
  14. At the end of the day, I personally feel the real problem with that Conan cover is the way Conan is depicted. I don't want him bound and on his back. I wanted him fighting mad with a sword in his hand. I think this hurt the sales price more than anything. I've recently sold Conan covers from this period at record prices. Just my take. Glen
  15. Does anyone know the owner of this art? Please contact Glen -- glenbru@aol.com Thanks!
  16. My pleasure! I'm sure you'll find it helpful, as I have.
  17. This falls into the life is too short category for me. Join if you want, ignore if you don't. No good deed goes unpunished, it seems -- that's what I've learned in the many more years I've walked this earth, vodou. Honestly, if the guy finds a way to monetize this in a few years, he deserves it for the work he's put in. In the meantime, you can use his info. I'm pretty sure your email isn't headed to the Russians. And if it is, I trust you'll still know how to vote.
  18. This is a pretty silly comment. This guy spends a lot of his time putting this together for no monitory gain. It costs you nothing to join and you can benefit greatly from the info. But you continue to be pessimistic. You certainly don’t have to join. I really don’t get the negativity though.
  19. For those unaware, PANEL PAGE ART would like to highlight an important resource for the comic art community... It's a newsletter called COMICART.TIPS. It's really an incredible resource that he spends many hours compiling each week. Basically, if you are a comicart fan, he does your homework for you.
