  1. Well, I definitely would expect that if it were one of your selling threads.* Seriously, I agree, I don't think there are too many instances of books being that obviously overgraded, but my thoughts were that if one of the more knowledgeable/experienced collectors were to see an instance like that, they could point it out within the thread in a polite way. No hurt feelings, no additional comments from anyone else, just, "I think that book may be a bit off on the grade. PM me." or something like that. That way, it helps the seller and their fellow board members. I clearly wouldn't be the one to do it nor would I presume to. All my books are NM. *Please note: The above comment/insinuation about John's grading does not reflect the actual opinion of alecholland. Alecholland likes cd4ever and regularly buys comics from him.
  2. Pending scans of the back of all the following books which aren't listed in the books you don't have for sale and which I cannot afford and will not pay you for: ASM 1 CGC 7.5 WP Avengers 4 CGC 9.0 WP HOM 174 CGC 9.2 WP HOM 179 CGC 9.6 WP Weird Science-Fantasy 29 CGC 9.4 WP
  3. When a board member is selling books that are clearly overgraded, would it really be bad form to point it out in a courteous manner within the thread? Honestly, it would not bother me if someone posted in one of my selling threads (not that I sell that frequently) that a book(s) looked a little off from the scans. I guess I'm asking because after reading the probation thread today regarding Henchman, and seeing a couple scans of books that were obviously overgraded by more than a full grade (probably 2 - 2 1/2 grades), I wondered if someone shouldn't have said something about it within the thread. I know the current thinking is that you should send a pm to the seller, but what about your fellow board members who may not be as observant or have a 30" high resolution flat-panel displays to see every small detail, or who may even have images turned off for faster browsing? It just seems to me, especially with regard to the Henchman situation, that it would, from time to time, be helpful if one of the more experienced board members who might be browsing the sales thread said, "the book you posted with parallel stress lines up and down the spine, thumb creases, impact creases, and blunted corners looks to be a little lower than 8.5. You might want to put that one up in the grading forum to get some good, helpful opinions on the grade." Would that be frowned upon? It seems the current method of using pm's benefits the seller and leaves our fellow board members/potential buyers out in the cold. Any thoughts?
  4. Um, no. I think flies are at least as interested in krap as they are honey, possibly even more interested in krap. I think what you were trying to say is: You'll catch more bees with honey than vinegar. I thought it was you krap more flies with oil than vinegar.

  8. I tried to make the Star Trek reference back on page 2, but either no one got it, or it wasn't funny. I'm guessing the latter.
  9. That's the key...don't take no personally and as a seller, don't take lowball offers personally. Good call there, Jim Man, if I took lowball offers personally, I would have taken my life years ago. About 1 in the morning, I like to send John long-winded, convoluted rants where I complain about my life, job, and anything else I can think of. Then, when he's thoroughly confused, I throw in a lowball offer of around 10% of his asking price and tell him how much I love Paul McCartney or whoever he is listening to that night.
  10. I work at a laminating company. You could always laminate your books.

  16. Of course, this selling strategy only works if there's interest. Or else one dude gets everything for a buck. And we don't want that, do we? Um.....yes.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention the Freebies you threw in as well. Many thanks. I use the stuff I buy from John (cd4ever) as a pillow.
