  1. Nice books Sqeggs! I may have to try and get in touch with John and see if he has a copy of #5 for sale.
  2. Classic cover. I really wish I had a copy. If I remember correctly, most of the Peter Panda comics are listed as 5 or 6's in the Gerber guide, but I'm wondering if some aren't a little more difficult to find.
  3. I was thinking about putting up some $50 & $100 group lots for sale next weekend (16th or 17th). They would mostly be made up of BA books with some SA and maybe a GA book or two. Grades would be all over the place from VG to NM, but would be fairly consistent within each individual lot. For example, I may have a BA Flash lot for $50 with all books in VG to VG/F condition or I may have a BA Black Panther lot with all books in VF to VF/NM condition. Titles would be mostly Marvel & DC superhero but may also include some western and war books. I'm just wondering if there would be a market here on the boards for something like that or whether I should just set up some BINs on Ebay. Most of the lots would be sold at about 30% to 60% of OSPG values.
  4. Very happy with the ASM 67. Graded accurately and shipped quickly. Thanks again, Erich
  5. I have a bad habit of getting into intense discussions with some of these folks. I never use swear words. I simply let them know how rude and inconsiderate they are. Most of the time, this doesn't go over very well. I once had a guy of about 70+ threaten to coldcock me.
  6. Estate sales can be brutal. I didn't realize that, at least in my area, people put little trinkets (bottle caps, paperclips, playing cards, etc...) on the front step to indicate their place in line now. I thought I was first in line at the last estate sale I went to, only to discover that I was about 8th. Ended up missing everything I was interested in. I've had people literally push me and my wife out of the way to get to stuff. It's like a feeding frenzy at these things. Ugly. I've basically stopped going. I prefer auctions and craigslist, however at auctions lately everyone seems to think they are bidding on Action Comics #1 on every comic.
  7. I lived in Columbia at that same time. I used to go to Rock Bottom also. I think Gary was the owner's name. I bought my first back issue there. It was silver age Sub-Mariner #1. I think I paid $10 for it. That was probably around 75 or 76. I would have been 10 years old.
  8. There are several thousand examples in the alecholland collection. Too bad I am at work or I could take photos so you would have a better idea of what not to buy.
  9. Do Post-it notes count. I doodle a lot at my desk.
  10. Mouseferatu. I drew this last year. It's a little blurry because I took it with my iPhone.
  11. It could be a trick. Is she a vampire? No Then I will say between 22 - 24 or 472 just in case she's really a vampire.
  12. I had forgotten about this thread. There is some really great artwork from board members here. Looking through this thread again has inspired me to do a little drawing over the holiday weekend.
  13. If there are any comic collectors in the Rhode Island area, this estate sale looks interesting. Thought it might be appropriate in this thread. Unfortunately, I live too far away. Rhode Island estate sale
  14. Here are a couple lower grade Lois Lane books I picked up a while back when my LCS was having a buy one get one free sale.
  15. In addition to textbooks for school, I've been reading sci-fi short stories from the Orbit anthology series. I picked up several from Half Price Books a few months ago. Currently reading Orbit 4 from the series.
  16. Can old members who haven't been on the boards in a while reintroduce themselves here? Just wanted to say hi to everyone on the boards. It's been an interesting couple of years. Haven't added much to my comic collection, but a few books here and there. I still collect a little of everything, but I've been considering selling most of my current collection and focusing on putting together a smaller higher quality collection of books I truly love. Right now I'm working a job I truly hate, (I went from bad to really bad in my job situation the last couple years) but I'm in school (at 46 years old) working on a computer science degree with an emphasis in web technologies. I hope to combine whatever meager graphic design skills I cultivated over the years with the web development skills I'm learning to get a job I actually might enjoy. I hope everyone on the boards is well. I still see a lot of familiar names. I hope to be able to post on a more regular basis again, although finals are looming and I am having nightmares about my networking final. Anyhow, I just wanted to say hi. Send me a pm if you like with any updates on board happenings over the last couple years. I'd love to hear from all my old friends.
  17. I have made several purchases from Tim and always been extremely happy. However, I did test out his "bombproof" packing with my last shipment and unfortunately a stick of ammonium dynamite did destroy my books. Lesson learned I guess. At any rate, I will definitely buy from Tim again and highly recommend him to others.
  18. Just bought a bunch of older sci-fi paperbacks from my LCS. She has quite a few books from the 50's, 60's & early 70's. The one I'm reading right now is called Night Slaves by Jerry Sohl. He is probably better known for his scriptwriting on t.v. shows like Star Trek (The Carbomite Maneuver). I also picked up Logan's Run which I have never read (although it's one of my favorite movies) and The Day of the Triffids. In addition, I bought a book by Gardner Fox called Beyond The Black Enigma (written under the pseudonym, Bart Somers), plus a bunch more.
  19. Does anyone know anything about Whitman variants? Specifically, I saw some Pink Panther books today that are not listed in Overstreet as having a Whitman variant. I think they were issue 20 & 22. Overstreet has the Whitman issues starting at 71.
  20. My wife took the photo on our iPhone. It did come out surprisingly nice.
  21. Father's Day present from my wife. We saw it the other day at my LCS and she told me to go up and buy it this morning. It's lower grade, but I really love these Maneely covers.
  22. I've had A Princess of Mars on my nightstand for about two weeks now. I've wanted to read it again for a while now. Might try to finally get started on it tonight. If non-fiction books count, I'm reading Front End Drupal and Head First PHP & MySQL - riveting.
