  1. Well, if you do consider it, never forget the lessons taught by Hero. He has all the excuses in the world, but at the end of the day, it was poor business decisions, unforced errors and failure to take accountability that ruined Mike. And I'm not unsympathetic to his health and theft problems. But he left himself vulnerable by running a poor business. I also think so much has come to light, it forces use to question his credibility on those issues as well.
  2. I appreciate this Dale. I look forward to these sales threads all year and I've added some really spectacular books to my collection thanks to you. Time to text my wife and tell her to forget about the kids Christmas presents!! We need to save for Dale!
  3. I really don't have a story that compares to the ones we've read here. About ten years ago, I slept in my car outside of New England comics to get first crack at a big collection they bought. I ended up getting my copy of X-Men 1 that day. I also waited outside the store and chatted for several hours with Bechara Maalouf. For those not familiar with him, he's a well known original art dealer.
  4. @VintageComics you mentioned Oregon has been a hot bed for illicit comic activity? Any crazy stories to share for those of us not in the know?
  5. Wait wait wait, your accusing him of having commitments and responsibilities and failing to follow through?? Based on everything I've read, that seems very out of character! It was obviously due to the judge's lack of understanding!
  6. Quick and professional. A cool piece of comics history at a very fair and reasonable price.
  7. I appreciate this post. The customer communication / logistics piece seems to be a real hurdle. And I think alot of customers really need the advice. What should I do? Or what would you do as a guy who looks at 300 similar jobs a week? Unfortunately it's hard for you to have capacity to give that advice. Good luck as you continue to grow your business. I have a lot of respect for people who have the courage and skill to go out on their own. And learn from the mistakes of others! Particularly Hero. As much as he complains about circumstances, everything that's gone wrong with his business is self inflicted from poor business practices.
  8. If he is selling them, I worry he's been at this long enough to know how to cover his tracks. Sell common books raw without distinct features to identify them. The Flash 1 he's had for 10 years will get attention. But other books like ASM129 and Hulk181 can probably slip through detection.
  9. It is interesting to see how much this world is shrinking. I imagine there is an opportunity for someone who is talented or willing to learn. I will vouch for Kenny's work. I've had 3 pretty big jobs done by him and his work is phenomenal. But I agree that he's likely very busy.
  10. Fifteen counts of contempt of court! What exactly does that mean? Blowing off court dates? Or insulting a judge ?
  11. This was in the December Comic Connect catalog. It's certainly doesn't sound like Seigal was in good financial shape in 1951. I feel like this line could have easily worked into dozens of EC stories: "As long as I live, and afterwards, I shall haunt you and yours. Before God, I put a curse on you"
  12. I've held on to hope that this wasn't the case. This story just keeps getting worse! What a mess! I'm really sorry for everyone caught up in this.
  13. What is the defect? The top staple? Billions, no way? I wouldn't pay more than a few hundred thousand for a modern missing a staple!
  14. The SS6 I had been after for years. It's a low grade copy, but I'm happy to own it. The FF1 was an upgrade from a restored copy. And the last one was a tough tough choice. I picked up a few Bakers that I love and a Young Romance #1 (first romance comic by Simon and Kirby) among others. Ultimately I went with a recent purchase from @Readcomix. It was Joe Sinnot's personal copy of Marvel Tales 109 signed by Joe on the story he drew. Joe is one of my favorites and I'm really happy to have this little connection to him.
  15. That may be the nicest copy of Headline 8 I've ever seen. That book is high on my want list!
  16. A few thoughts on this: 1) Pods seem like a reasonable idea - especially if moving companies would really charge $7k to move. 2) I would pair down the collection. Try to get to maybe 10 -15 short boxes and convert it 5-8 long boxes. I'm assuming with a collection of that size, the vast majority of them aren't worth a ton - you could keep just the valuable ones and ones that are meaningful to you. 3) I've driven cross country on 8 separate occasions. I've done it in Uhauls and in many different cars. I've gone straight through with barely any rest and I've taken weeks. The trip is what you make of it. It can be a brutal, caffeine fueled marathon or you can give yourself a week or two, see sites, visit family and limit your driving to 6-8 hours a day. I wouldn't rule out the adventure, because there is a lot to see along the way.
  17. I agree. I watched all of those cartoons and never bought any of those comics. My comic interests started with spiderman and X-Men in the late 80s.
  18. I was born in 82 and while I never read the comic book, Richie Rich was still popular during my childhood. There was a cartoon that I remember watching as a kid and a few movies that were rebooted. While he wasn't a huge part of my childhood, he was still fairly popular in the 80s and 90s.
  19. There are definitely some nice books, depending on Era/ grade. DD1, FF2, SS1 if they are from the original series (60s) are worth a good bit. Others like DD2 and Black Panther 1 could be worth good money depending on grade and condition. Pictures would be helpful. Your next step would be to get an accurate grade. If you post pictures and use are all from 60s, you should get a grade estimate and then you can use various tools to determine value... like, ebay sold items or Mycomicshop
  20. I give you lots of credit. I never had the patience to put together long runs, but I've completed some smaller series. The Strange Tales of the Unusual isn't really SA, but it's close. I'm also working on some high grade BA horror runs.
  21. I bought a bunch from you and a bunch from another boardie. I'm a sucker for Everett's Atlas covers!
  22. It does look relatively flat since about August. I wonder if prices have flattened a bit.
  23. I couldn't zoom in on the pictures without it getting blurry, but agree with everyone else. Check the inside front cover.
  24. Not a lot of big purchases this year, but I did get a personal grail I had been after for some time. I also added a few Baker non-romanace covers and a several Atlas readers.
