  1. Yes, I believe they will provide guidance. I would also ask them about having the books graded. The PCH / EC are likely worth the cost. And MCS can send them in for you. What you give up is time. It could take several weeks to get them back from CGC and up for sale.
  2. I've seen pictures on these boards of multiples that have made my jaw drop! Books I've never even seen in person!
  3. Not sure if it's illustrative or not, but I can't imagine a Stan Signature adds anywhere near an increase of $600 in value on a $2 book. I would assume if makes a $2 worth about $50 if it's stabbed. Stan signed everything. Thousands of new signatures most weekends for years and years. A lot of collectors prefer books unsigned.
  4. Hello - this probably needs to get moved to a different part of the forum. But to answer your questions: 1) yes, there is definitely interest. It may be harder to move as a lot, but people here would be interested. 2) I don't know a ton about Cerebus, but I know #1 is valuable and sought after. Def worth getting it slabbed. For the rest, it's likely a balance between the expected grade and given value. If it's worth more than a few hundred $$, you'll likely get an ROI from having it graded it. Good luck
  5. I wouldn't have it graded. Unless it graded a 9.8, it's likely not worth the price of grading. And that book shouldn't be a 9.8 from what I can see.
  6. My guess is, he just hasn't taken your book down off his website. I wouldn't be to stressed. You've got the book for what seems like a good deal
  7. Really sorry to hear about this. Keep us posted on what comes of this and good luck!
  8. For those of is who weren't born when Chuck bought the MH1 collection, this thread has been an extremely enjoyable and educational read. @Cat-Man_America those comics are incredible. And a great example of why the Church collection was so special. Tec18 is one of my favorite comics.
  9. In the spring FedEx delivered 4 boxes to my house. Only problem was they weren't my packages. It had someone else's name and address. They were over 25 miles away. I called FedEx and they said they would pick them up, but never showed. After a few days of getting nowhere, I drove out to the guys house and delivered the packages. The guy said he had filed a claim but FedEx kept showing the package delivered.
  10. I wouldn't get these books pressed because I don't think they would be worth the price of pressing. If you really wanted to get them pressed at some point, there are other, well known presser you could send them to, rather than trusting a stranger.
  11. @rich_TMNT Do counterfeits actually go for $6k? The comicconnect auction pretty clearly identifies this as a counterfeit. Is there a nuance to this particular counterfeit? https://www.comicconnect.com/item/901762
  12. Looking at the pictures, they are likely better than G / VG. My take is, he's under promising and over delivering. That way if you find a few low grade books you really can't complain or return the books. Good luck.
  13. I just think folks here have an appreciation for a 3 pack thats survived unopened for this many years. Especially one with an iconic Adam's cover showing! I'm glad it went to someone who isn't going to open it, press it and grade it.
  14. I wouldn't get it restored. The cost of resto would likely exceed the value of the book. And when your done with Resto it would be worth far less than if you left it as is. The 3/18 is a date stamp from the store when it was originally sold. I wouldn't try to remove it personally, it's part of the books history. It's a petty book and I've always loved these SA Hulk comics. Great use of colors that really pop on our issue.. but, it likely isn't worth grading from a value perspective. Your best bet may be to bag, board and enjoy it as is.
  15. Congrats on owning a cool and unique piece. If you figure out how your great grandfather got ahold of these, I would love to hear the back story.
  16. @EC ed @SOTIcollector Do either of you have any thoughts on this? I'm really curious about the overhang. Does that seriel number mean anything? Also that funky color grid on top? Could that be for production?
  17. Congratulations on getting the book you wanted. It's always a great feeling.... though for me, that feeling fades I'm quickly onto my next big goal!
  18. Church Okajima Larson Windy City San Fran If we consider Gaines File copies, I would put that in my top 3. And it would be really hard for me to pick a favorite between Church, Okajima and Gaines. And sadly, I've never owned any of them.
  19. I'm sure others have a more susesinct history, but it wasn't uncommon for people to take runs of comics and "bound" them together in a book. The comics are often trimmed to get the right fit. I'm not sure what the over hang is. As for the twine, I've seen some comics that came out of bound volumes that are held together by twine, so I imagine that was a fairly common / easy way to put the books together.
  20. I just scanned through and saw the same thing. The Xmen 4.5 was interesting to me, because it had the dark green, but it had that piece missing I wasn't crazy about. You could still contact them for an offer on the Black Knights.
  21. I did this recently with mycomicshop and got a very fair and reasonable offer for a big key. I fielded a few other offers and after fees and headaches I decided MCS was the way to go. I applied the trade directly into a bigger GA book and I was really happy with how it played out. So if you spot a book you want to upgrade into on their site, it's worth reaching out.
