  1. Honestly, people should be doing both. Police, the attorney General, the FBI, their uncle who knows a state senator in Oregon, lawyers... This is a time for action and justice needs to be served.
  2. How did the book look? Does it look like a 9.8? I can't see anything from the pictures, but if the pins have been popped, it's possible someone tried to swap the label. Still - that label looks accurate to me.
  3. If we believe this, it's the second time he's had customers books stolen... Not that I would ever accuse Mike of anything nefarious, but if I stole peoples books and sold them and then needed an excuse for how / why they went missing, a robbery would be awfully convenient. But I'm sure Mike had insurance and its safe to assume customers would get the full value of the book plus the fees paid to Hero.... no need for anyone to worry. Mike's got this! Just sit back and wait for your refunds!
  4. Just read through this. I never got to meet Stan. I had opportunity, but always thought the lines were to long and the prices to expensive, so I never did it. As a kid growing up in the 90s, I always think of Stan's appearance in Mall Rats. He was hysterical and even in his 70s, was very hip and cool. I was probably 12 and all the kids on the bus were talking about Stan in that movie.... and that's what Jack and Steve couldn't give to comics. I agree with everyone who says Jack and Steve deserved more credit. Jack's contributions to comics stand alone in my opinion. But I get exhausted by those who seek to give credit to Jack by discrediting or understating Stan.
  5. I've never bought raw books from Heritage, but I've heard there grading is all over the place. I've also heard Mile Highs grading is pretty off as well.
  6. Can we ask how much you paid him and for how many books? I'm not sure why he would have submitted the books if he felt they weren't paid for.
  7. Thanks, I'll try this and post results!
  8. All handbrush. He came in 8 different pieces which was made him a little easier to paint.
  9. My 11 year old son started playing D&D recently and I've really gravitated to painting figures for his games. I recently bought and painted this Galactus Statue. It was made from a 3D printer and purchased on Etsy. It took roughly 8 hours to paint and I'm still touching it up here and there. I'm trying to settle on what to paint next.
  10. When I read the initial post I thought CGC was out of line. But if he dropped 50 posts in 9 hours, that does seem spammy. I would message Mike in 30 days as requested and in the mean time, contribute, have fun, create a dialog.
  11. Marty - this is one of my favorite threads on the board. I really love seeing your collection and hearing your story! That Spirit 22 is stunning! It's a book high on my want list!
  12. How did he get in touch with you? Can you share his email or phone # with the other victims? You can privately message them, but it seems he isn't responding to anyone else. How come the negative comments didn't help? They are words on the internet? How do they prevent him from packing and shipping books? Refunding $ ? Finishing work that was paid for? I don't think anyone who has followed this would be asking for empathy and understanding. Between the theft, selling books online, the threats to people and hundreds of thousands of dollars in STOLEN money, I feel like empathy has been exhausted. So I'm guessing you are Mike or a plant for Mike. If I'm wrong, I apologize, but would suggest you read the thread.
  13. All of these are worth the cost of grading. They may give you a green qualified label or a lower grade blue. But these books are desirable enough that you'll get a return on the grading fees.
  14. Congratulations on the new addition to the family. I love the idea of the watch! I did the same for my God child when he was baptized! Hopefully he'll appreciate it!
  15. I appreciate the pro Stan position. I'm often disappointed with all the venom thrown at Stan on these boards. And I feel like you can't defend him without the perception that your attacking Jack and Steve. The fact is, none of these things happened in a vacuum. A lot of great people and circumstances came together to create the Marvel Universe. I'll share one story that really formed my opinion on Stan. At a Boston ComicCon years ago I got to spend time with Allen Bellman. Allen would have worked with Stan in the early 40s during the Timely days. I asked Allen about everyone from those days. When we got to Stan he said that Stan was the hardest working person he ever met. He worked tirelessly. He was on top of everything. There earlier than everyone and staying all hours of the night! And I think that is what gets lost in the Stan debate. Put the creative aside, he grew and marketed a business that turned funny books into multi billion dollar universe. You can call him a narcissistic and an egomaniac, and maybe that's fair. But I also think it was necessary! Stanley Lieber was the chief editor for his Step Uncles fluttering funny book division. Funky Flashman created a universe that we are all very grateful for!
  16. Luckily, we have dozens and dozens of other situations for a judge to pick from.
  17. Is it mostly Bronze and Silver? Comicconnect is good. If I had bigger keys I would probably look at Comicconnect.
  18. I do agree with @Mr. Zipper that this was not a long time con. We all know his name, where he lives and so on. He did years of professional work and was recommended frequently. I think he made a sincere effort to run a business, but he was a terrible business person. He got in over his head and he acted in a very unethical way. He stole, he lied, he tried to sell customers books and took money for work he had no intention of doing. What hasn't been said yet... remember when he had all those books stolen and filed an insurance claim to refund customers??? If I were the police or a private investigator, I would love to look closer at that situation.
  19. This is where my head goes. Hundreds of thousands of dollars just stolen. We are celebrating the return of a handful of books. We all love the hobby so we tend to prioritize the well being and "safe" return of the comics. The $5k seems trivial compared to the return of Flash 1 that can now be fixed properly. But the fact remains, he stole hundreds of thousands of dollars from people. Just took the money and in many cases had no realistic expectation of doing any work. It's a mess and he belongs in jail.
  20. Kenny Sanderson! PM me and I can give you contact info. He's the best in the business and will have it to you in less than 14 years, guaranteed!!!
  21. I would request pictures and judge for yourself.
  22. Agreed. The best case scenario right now is he returns all the books he hasn't sold. And even in this best case scenario, he's stolen tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands of dollars from people. And he's sold some books. My hope right now is that everyone gets their books back. Hopefully law enforcement will step in. But - I don't see anyone getting money back. Blood from a stone!
