  1. Not nearly as impressive as some I've seen on here, but I finished putting together a sold mid grade run of 1 - 7. I may look to upgrade #1 at some point, but I'm in no rush.
  2. Is strange world's 1 kirby's triumphant return to atlas / Marvel? Just before the super hero stuff really took off? Great looking books regardless. GL selling
  3. Umm... you seem to have missed JIM 83? But I'll take 82 incase I ever stumble into 83. Take
  4. People may disagree with my advice, but I think your on the right path. Identify the keys and get them slabbed. As for the rest, I would put together nice runs and sell them on Ebay. No reserve, take good pictures, be honest and let the market decide. It's, quick and efficient. The biggest hassel is shipping. Or you can take my approach and become emotionally attached to them in a way that makes your wife feel uncomfortable, never sell them and day dream about converting your attic into a "comic book museum."
  5. This is Marvel mystery 13. It's the first Golden Age vision. It may not be the most valuable book I own, but it's def my favorite. Pre WWII Schomberg cover.
  6. My goal is to add 2 more marvel super keys to my collection. Lower grade ASM 1, FF1, TOS39 or JIM83. If I get a good opportunity to upgrade my X1 or avengers 1 I will. Other than that I just hope to be activity growing my collection with cool SA and GA comics.
  7. Thanks for the reply. I've collected since I was 18 and I'm getting back into it largely because my 7 year old son and I do it together. I never read the books I collected until my son made me feel absolutely ridiculous for owning comic books you can't read. Although I've been loving the $1 "true believers" Marvel released. Its given us a chance to read a ton of classics like FF1 and Hulk 1.
  8. Hi, I'm just curious, how come you took it out of the holder? For transparency purposes, this is a bit out of my league right now so the question is strictly for curiosity.
  9. Ha, I thought that JIM83 was an original from the preview photos. Not that GRR. That's what I was waiting to see. Still, this is an awful lot of fun!
  10. I've emailed comic link for a pic of the back of a copy of daredevil #7 and they sent it within 24 hours. I was looking at a low grade restored copy of hulk #1 on comic connect and I couldn't see the restoration from the scans, so I emailed them for more info, and they actually zoomed in on the restoration and circled it for me. I didn't end up buying that hulk and I've never actually purchased from comic connect, but I've had good experiences with both. I've bought a few things from comic link.
  11. Hello, I'm new to the CGC forums and thought this would be as good a thread to post my first comment as any. 48, 49 and 50 were the first comics I collected. Don't get me wrong, as a kid I bought, read and abused hundreds of comics, but these were my first as a collector. The Galactus / SS story was the most impactful to my father as a child and he would tell the story to my brother and I. As a high school student in the late 90s I bought FF 48 at a convention for $55. I had it graded a few years ago and it came back at 5.5. Conventions in the early internet days were a much different scene. I bought 49 and 50 a few years later and when we bought our first house, 49 proudly displayed in our living room along with as handful of other keys. As for Kirby covers I've always thought 72 was the best, but 49 will always be my favorite.
