Have you considered using an Escrow Service to facilitate the sale?
The concept is that you and your buyer find a trusted third-party. You send the art to the 3rd party. The buyer sends the money to the 3rd party. The 3rd party ships art to buyer and money to seller.
Mike de la Ree (mister_not_so_nice) offers that service through his business, NSNArt.
There are other providers as well, of course.
This is why you read everyone's post before blurting out your answer, LOL... my view, and later post, very much agrees with alxjhnsn, and his was obviously more valuable since he was able to actually offer a not-so-nice name (pun intended) of somebody who could help you with this.

One thing you can do is ask for a wire transfer, opposed to a Paypal transfer...
reason being that the buyer has very little recourse once a wire is sent. The only way you can get a wire reversed (as the sender) is if you can prove that the receiver didn't live up to their end of the bargain.
That being said it does sound a little fishy.
you could also use a 3rd party that you trust to hold the pieces in escrow, until you validate receipt of funds. You could get somebody, especially somebody who has a very good reputation as a collector, or as a rep (who you may need to negotiate a fee with if a rep, but potentially worth it)
If they refuse that 3rd party escrow... you can just assume that this person is not legit, and end all contact.

I got the Kubert splash. It'll go well with my other DC war art, somehow it all ends up being aerial themed.
Kubert's run on Enemy Ace is pretty high up there on my comics are awesome meter, and so are his war comics just in general. Man really awesome splash, you've got to be stoked.

I wonder if we'd have had the "ugly sigs" discussion if it had been a vintage signed Ditko or Frazetta piece...
depends on who signed the ditko piece LOL

That auction got late early and fast. Can’t remember another page of Krenkel alone attributed published comic book (magazine) art ever selling before. Page has it all.
Alas, it wasn't meant to be... for me I mean... I hope whoever got it loves crud the out of it!
really, it won't let me use that word, it's not even a bad one. talk about puritan...

Judging the art on the artist is a slippery slope.
Judging the artist on sexual proclivities or interest is a slippery slope too.
combine the two and we might as well be sliding downhill
Yes, for most things I agree. But for high profile purchases like EQ... maybe it matters.
Maybe some organization that was making a decision of whether to display it publicly might say to themselves that they don’t want to touch it with a 50 foot pole now, because of that revelation. As we economists say it could affect the person who is on the margin.
super rich frazetta fan boy doesn’t care, but Lucas Museum probably weighed it into their calculus. And if that kept them from bidding it affected the price.
I’m personally a fan boy, if I had a billion.. i’d put that baby up in my sweet billionaire comic library / comic art gallery for 5.4mm. But, it’s a cover painting from my favorite run of silver age comics / what I feel is the first comic publications that tried to subvert the comic book code (talking Warren, not just Eerie)

I wonder how much of a hit the racist porn scandal was on the final price of EQ? I bet that sale took a hit on it. Potentially drove away some buyers.
Easier to argue that it was a product of the times, with out that strong evidence of how he thought personally.

With no other bidders (or any interest whatsoever based on "her" face) what it really was: a fixed price sale done very publicly.
when you say based on her face, do you mean because of the changes to her face that Frazetta made?
yeah, interesting theory for sure. Kind of a hey, we'll let it go at this... but also if anyone bids the hell out of it that wouldn't have hurt any feelings, other than that initial prospective buyers of course.

Whatever the most silly final hammer amount we see in this auction....hell ALL of the silly hammer amounts we see in any comic art auction won't even begin to approach the outright lunacy that is THIS:
https://www.cnn.com/style/article/jeff-koons-rabbit-auction-record/index.html
Prior to Wednesday's sale, Christie's had described the sculpture as "one of the most iconic works of 20th-century art.""It is crisp and cool in its appearance, yet taps into the visual language of childhood," read a sale preview on the auction house's website. "Its lack of facial features renders it inscrutable, yet its form evokes fun and frivolity."Gee thanks Christie's...... More Iconic than anything Pablo Picasso did... a GD metal rabbit made to look like a MF'ing balloon. This is why I don't want anyone to think of comic art as fine art. Because then we'd have these guys in our hobby. I'm happy as hell that people think of our art as just a little more kitsch. I really hope that sentiment continues.anyone watch that new Netflix horror movie that centers around the fine art community. Called Velvet Buzzsaw. It's kind of written like a classic horror story from Creepy / Eerie.. Starving-but-ambitious, art-rep assistant stumbles upon a dead, and seemingly genius unknown painter. She takes everything from his apartment, and it's all imbued with demons.... anyway, the way they portrait that market is a little cliché, but also really apt. It makes you happy when bad things happen to the horrible people lol. -

I really hope this ends up in the Lucas museum.

Beginning to think $5m may be a low estimate... this is the kind of piece George Lucas with his billions would lust after.
YAY participation awards!
I think you're right. I think it's going to be 5-10 mm. And not because it crosses over into "fine art" interests.. because I don't really think it does.. But because good, old-fashioned, mega-wealthy, Nerds want it. Lucas, as you've said, plus I'm sure a number of other similarly well of fan boys who just really geek over Frazetta, and want to let loose that salvo.

If anyone is interested in parting with original from Darwyn Cooke's New Frontier I'm interested in getting a couple of nice pieces from the series. You can message me here, or at CAF link to my gallery below:
https://www.comicartfans.com/GalleryDetail.asp?GCat=132356
I'm most interested in: Wonder Woman, Wonder Woman / Superman, Martian Manhunter, or the Losers pages. But, there’s tons of fantastic pages from the series that fall outside of that list that i’d be interested in for sure!

Proud to add iconic Ms. Marvel #18 cover that fits my collection to a KREE! Love the classic full-figure image with the Avengers, my first Cockrum cover. Mystique from X-Men made her 1st full appearance in this key issue.
that's really awesome!

My one and only commission so far, at least that I have in hand (was able to get on Skottie Young's list which I'm super stoked over as well).. I'm sure Ian set my bar for future commissions too high, but damn is it a nice piece. If you're not familiar with Ian Bertram's work. Do yourself a favor and check out his latest book Little Bird, and his commissions on Felix Comic Art. I'm really, really happy with both Ian's effort on this piece, and (as always!) with Felix's handling of the representation on Ian's behalf.
Just got her back the other week from my framer, Linda, And i couldn't be happier! I love seeing her every day
